Option 1:
Seminar: Microbiology and Chemistry
Microbiology is a science that focuses on the invisible world surrounding us, and encompasses a wide array of topics including environmental microbiology, industry, human disease and public health, immunology, and chemistry. This Seminar will introduce the science of microbiology and explore its roots.
Come to Seminar prepared to discuss the following questions:
1) Discuss the events that led to the birth and development of microbiology.
2) Discuss at least 2-3 applications of microbiology in the real world.
3) Why is a basic knowledge of chemistry important to the study of microbiology?
4) Identify at least 2-3 topics in chemistry that are important to the science of microbiology and why they are important.
Option 2 – Alternative Assignment:
You will benefit most from attending the graded Seminar as an active participant. However, if you are unable to attend you have the opportunity to make up the points by completing the alternate assignment.
Write and submit a short paper in APA format with the correct use of in-text citations and references. Include a well-developed introduction and conclusion in your paper. In a 500-word paper, discuss the questions listed in option 1.
