Assignment 1 (two parts):

Part 1:
For one 24 hour period you  will take absolutely NO photographs. Take note of when you are compelled to take one, and what is feels like to not take one. Every time you have the desire to take a picture, note what that image would have been. At the end of the 24 hours write a half or full page reflecting on the experience of not taking a single photograph.

Part 2:
For one 24 hour period you will take note of every single image you take no matter what medium you use to take it. Write down every single one and why you decided there was a need for an image. Take note of what made a “good photo” that day, looking closely at those that were discarded and those kept. What is the difference? Look closely. At the end of the day write a half or full page reflecting on why you were compelled to take those photos and what their use is.

Can you imagine not taking a single picture in a whole lifetime? Or being there as images were just being invented? What feels notable about how you perceive images now?

Pictures examples:
– this like the nfl game which happened yesterday
– food
– views
– etc…

There continues to be much debate over the structure of health care organizations. Advocates of both public and private structures are quite vocal in attempting to persuade the general public to adopt their views. Proponents of public health care structures claim the public structure will make health care universally accessible while proponents of private structures assert that quality of care can only be achieved via a private structure. In this assignment, you will contrast public and private health care structures, analyze the current viability and future sustainability of each structure, and provide a rationale for which structure you believe is optimal.

Your Assignment
You are the manager of a large data processing project. Your company, Systems Inc., worked very hard to obtain a contract with Big Bank to do the conversions from its recent acquisition, Small Bank. The bank met with several companies to discuss who would do the best work on the contract. During your meeting with Big Bank, you told them that you had “never missed a conversion deadline.” At the time, your company had never missed a conversion deadline, but the company had only done three conversions. You also told them that your data processing systems were the fastest around. After months of negotiation, Big Bank signed the contract. The president of Big Bank said, “We like fast, and you guys are fast. We choose you.”
You started work on the data conversion immediately (ahead of contract). According to the contract, your team was responsible for ensuring that the new bank’s data were converted to Big Bank’s data processing system. The contract involved six large conversions. The first involved converting Big Bank’s savings accounts, the second its checking accounts, the third its investment portfolio, the fourth its credit cards, the fifth its mortgage portfolios, and the sixth its large business loans. Your team completed four of the six conversions without a problem. The fifth task, the largest and most important, has encountered numerous problems. Some problems have been based on personnel issues on your part and other issues have been based on the bank’s failure to provide you with necessary information. One issue resulted when the conversion was delayed for over a week. The data to be converted were formatted differently than the bank’s previously provided specifications. For that reason, the data conversion fields needed to be changed. A provision in the contract required your company to receive four people’s approval before making any changes to the conversion data fields, and one of those four people, Glenda Givealot, was out of the country doing missionary work in an area of the world that did not have cell phone reception. Another issue resulted when the conversion was supposed to occur. Because of the change in the timeline, the conversion schedule had to change. The weekend the conversion was rescheduled to occur, an ice storm struck the state where your data processing computers were housed. Your facility lost electricity for 3 days and the conversion was delayed again until power could be restored.

The banks president, who is a known hothead, was furious. He called you after power was restored and yelled,
We are rescinding this contract!
He also threatened to take the case to court to seek damages.

Systems Inc. President

Your company president wants this situation resolved amicably. He also wants to maintain the contract with the bank, because he sees the potential for a large amount of business with the bank in the future if this contract proves successful. Corporate counsel believes that the bank just needs to be shown that it is out of compliance with the contract just as we are and that both parties are to blame. He wants you to start negotiations with the bank to modify certain provisions of the contract to make expectations clearer.

Paper MUST answer/ summarize the following:
How does earth keep a fairly steady temperature?
this is a huge question: make sure to talk about carbon sinks, albedo effect, etc.
talk about the atmospheres mechanisms for keeping earths temperature fairly steady.
Identify Greenhouse gases, how they are created, etc.
Talk about the fact that what is happening now is that we are changing the equilibrium, not so much that the gases in themselves are bad: very important!
Talk about WHAT is changing the balance
Who is responsible? How do we know?
How quick is it changing?
Now to the big questions: what do we do with this?
focus on linking with what you just said before here to indicate what are the best approaches to bring the balance back to the climate
how do we do that?
what are the main methods?
Be especially careful to not simply mention that Electric Cars would fix the whole problem, or that simply shutting down lights a bit would make even a dent on this.
Real methods include: driving slower, dropping significantly our consumption of red meat, researching climate engineering, use energy sparingly (not keeping your house at 17 in the dead of summer, or at 30 in the dead of winter for example, etc.). Self-driving cars WOULD save GHG because we could optimize road usage, etc. Using airplanes is for example especially detrimental to the environment.
And so many other ways
Make sure to link to our Canadian lives: how can we then make any positive impact on this?
PAPER MUST HAVE A STRUCTURE. Introduction, Body Paragraphs for each main idea etc.
