Analyze the cultural and linguistic barriers global managers encounter when working with employees and how they might use cross-cultural communication strategies.

Part 1: Interview

Find an individual who comes from another culture (non-US). This person can be a coworker or a friend, but he/she should be an English language learner who has moved to the US within the past 5-8 years, if possible. Create a list of 8 questions that focus on communication in the workplace and how his/her cultural and linguistic differences have impacted communication clarity, comprehension, and breakdowns.

Part 2: Essay

Summarize what you learned from the interview. Provide quotes from the interview to elaborate on your summary.
How does the information from the interview relate to what you have learned so for in this course? Make direct connections to the readings.
How will you use this information to affect the way you lead teams from diverse cultural backgrounds? Provide four concrete strategies to address communication.
Your essay should be 2000-2250 words and should include at least five (5) citations. The sections should be clearly marked with headings so that your instructor knows which points you are addressing. Follow the guidelines for APA writing style. The title page and references page so not count towards the minimum word amount for this assignment.

You will write about 2 of the assigned readings, discussing them in terms of one of the key concepts guiding the course. You will choose 2 works from a list of works eligible for that essay.

Choose from:  Asai Ryis stories; Ihara Saikakus stories; Love Suicides at Sonezaki; Kaga no Chiyos poems; Sukeroku; Playboy Roasted a la Edo; Hiraga Gennais essays.

Your essay must analyze your chosen works in terms of one of the following two key concepts.  You may write both of your essays about the same key concept, or one essay about each, as you choose.  The key concepts are:

            1) Ga and zoku.  You may consider questions such as the following:  How do your chosen works fit into the elegant (high) vs vulgar (low) dichotomy? Are your works primarily one or the other, or do they combine elements of both?  In what ways?  How does an awareness of this dichotomy help us to think about the works?  Etc.

            2) Modernity and tradition.  You may consider questions such as the following:  What elements of modernity do your chosen works display?  What elements of tradition?  Do they show a consciousness of being modern, or a yearning for the traditional?  How do they view the present and its relationship to the past?  Etc.

Each essay should be between 1000 and 1200 words long (roughly 3-4 pages of double spaced Times New Roman).  You will be graded on the cogency and persuasiveness of your analysis, your mastery of the ideas presented in lectures and readings, and the clarity of your writing.  Spelling and grammar count.  The best essays will present a clear argument with a concise thesis statement and specific examples drawn from the works under discussion.

You do not need to consult any sources beyond what is assigned to the class;  therefore, you do not need to include a Works Cited list, and may cite the work youre discussing merely by page number.  If you do consult any sources beyond what is assigned to the class, you must include a Works Cited list with the details of what you have cited.

Part 2- students will review summary analyses submissions, made in part 1, and offer a rebuttal to a classmate’s current event analysis, which opposes their own.  MOST IMPORTANTLY,  BE CONSTRUCTIVE in your critiques; and RATIONAL in your explanation of your perspective.  Rebuttals must be 5-10 sentences in length.

Kindly do the rebuttal on the work below

It is more than twelve months into the pandemic yet some Texans are complaining about access to the Covid-19 vaccine. In Texas, the rollout of the Covid-19 vaccine has been faced with several severe challenges. There have been inconsistencies in the distribution of the doses and more struggle is to jab people into their arms. People in the various counties in Texas have been warned of the possible delay in receiving the vaccine. For example in Cameron and Hidalgo counties, residents have been instructed to carry food, water, and blanket as they could experience a delay of a period of up to 48 hours. The downside of this is that it has affected the vulnerable in the society as they are exposed to cold and rains. Exposing some age groups to such weather conditions has an effect that would otherwise lead to serious health issues. As a solution, the Texas government should come up with programs where some members of society get the Covid-19 vaccines at the comfort of their homes.

After viewing the videos by Tony Robbins and Annie Leonard. They are quite different videos in terms of style, spontaneity, etc…

What were your overall impressions? What makes these presentations effective? Were there elements of the presentations that could have been improved?

Were the presentations effective at holding your attention? If so, what were the elements of the presentations that were able to hold your interest. Finally, comment in general about the videos and give your overall impression.

What types of evidence did the presenters provide? Was the evidence convincing?

The purpose of case studies is for you to use your critical thinking skills. Utilize the knowledge you have acquired from your other business classes as well as what you have currently learned in this Ethics class to analyze the business situation and answer the provided corresponding questions for each Case Study Assignment.
One of the objectives of these case studies is to prove your competency in the written form of communication.  Therefore, you must be thoughtful and thorough in your answers.  Simply listing your responses is unacceptable.  In addition, I expect proper grammar and punctuation to be used.  Consequently, it is in your best interest to proofread your work before submission.  Furthermore, answering case study questions with 1-2 sentences is not acceptable.  You need to clearly state your answers; form your opinion if asked; and be able to justify your answers.  Please refer to the rubric for further grading criteria.

I highly encourage you to utilize supplementary sources in addition to your textbook. This will provide you a more thorough overview of the case study.  Regardless, if you decide to use sources outside your textbook or the textbook alone, please provide in-text citations and a reference page at the end.

 Instructions for Case Study Assignments:
For each assignment, you will have 1 case to read, analyze, and answer the provided corresponding questions.  To thoroughly answer the case questions, your assignment should be between 3-4 pages.

Formatting Requirements:
APA format, 12pt font, Times New Roman, double-spaced, with 1″ margins.
