Assessment Instructions
Note: You must complete Assessments 1 and 2 before beginning this assessment. As you create your presentation, consider the feedback you received from your instructor on your Assessments 1 and 2. You may use information from your Assessments 1 and 2 for your presentation. However, be sure to edit the information to fit the requirements of this assessment, and to create a logical flow of ideas for your presentation.

Create and record a slide presentation with accompanying spoken narration, which comprises a comprehensive synthesis of your research and recommendations concerning ethical and cultural issues described in a case study, including a research-based plan to resolve the case.

While examining your previous assessments and making decisions about the essential information that will be presented, it is recommended that you begin by creating an outline and comparing it to the Comprehensive Case Presentation Scoring Guide to ensure you have specifically taken into account and addressed all of the grading criteria in detail.

Template
Use the PowerPoint Template [PPTX] to complete this assessment.

Slideshow Instructions
You may use PowerPoint to create this slideshow, or if you wish, you may use Prezi or some other option. However, PowerPoint is best supported by the resources provided. You are responsible for making your presentation work.

For each assessment you have written in the course thus far, create 810 slides that provide a high-level explanation or summary. In other words, you should create a minimum of 16 slides, plus a title slide, introduction slide, conclusion slide, and references slide. Use a clear and concise structure.

Title slide: On the first slide, enter:
A brief title of the presentation.
Your name.
Course number and title.
Capella University.
FlexPath instructor’s name.
Introduction slides: Provide an introduction to your presentation that includes a brief overview of the case. Describe what you will be discussing in your presentation.
Content slides: Provide a high-level overview of the salient points from Assessments 1 and 2. While you may use some of your previous work, such as the research studies, theories, and plans, be sure to revise your work so you are addressing the criteria for this assessment. You will likely need to revise your previous work so it flows for your presentation and meets the specific criteria for the presentation.
Also include a slide that discusses how this project has influenced your thinking about your own professional behaviors.
Conclusion slides: Briefly summarize your presentation. Provide a concise summary about the topics addressed.
Reference slides: List all references cited in your presentation.
All slides should include detailed presenter notes that include what you will say for each slide. Some slides may need to include more extensive notes than others, depending on what you are presenting for that slide. Be sure to consider the distinguished level of each criterion to guide you in the amount of detail you will need in the notes section of the slides to meet the requirements for each component of the presentation. Include fully developed paragraphs in the notes area of your slides (the Notes area is just underneath each slide). Most slides will require multiple paragraphs for sufficient detail to meet proficient and distinguished level scoring of criteria.

Be sure to include the kind of detail you would present to an audience if you were presenting live to a group. You may use information directly from your previous assessments when writing presenter notes. However, entries should be edited so they are written as if you are speaking to a group of professionals, paraprofessionals, or a potential employer, for example. You can utilize the presenter notes when recording the audio portion of the presentation.

Voice-Over Instructions
Your presentation should include a comprehensive audio voice-over that presents essential information for each slide. Elements of good spoken delivery include:

Appropriate volume and clear pronunciation.
Avoidance of audible fidgeting and distracting interjections.
A variety of intonation and pacing and appropriate use of pauses.
Important: Before you record your presentation, it is recommended you allow ample time to practice your presentation until you are comfortable with these elements.

Note: If you require the use of assistive technology or alternative communication methods to participate in these activities, please contact [email protected] to request accommodations.

Portfolio Prompt: You are encouraged to submit this work to your ePortfolio.

American Identity and answer the prompt: How has America historically identified itself? How have you come to understand the concept of an American identity? What social and historical factors have influenced mainstream definitions of “America”? How do you define the American National Narrative or American identity? How also have you come to understand the concepts of “Native American/American Indian,” and Chican@ identity and culture? If you are unaware of these concepts or perhaps how these identities are usually represented that is ok! Please think of this first required discussion thread as a “free write” that you would typically do in class on the first day. This exercise is not only to help you become more comfortable with the online discussion format, but also give you an idea of the types of critical response and dialogue with peers that I would like to see happen throughout the semester!

Topic: Whats wrong with Princesses? -3rd person (no I or you) – Use Peggy Orensteins Whats Wrong with Cinderella? as your source -use a mixture of paraphrase, summary, and quotation  Intro: Summarize Orenstein in 3-4. Sentences  and state a 3 point thesis for your chosen topic/  Body Paragraphs: topic sentence with one point from your 3 point thesis, then details to support Orenstein, use a mixture of paraphrase, summary, and quotation/ Conclusion: evaluate or summarize

To conclude the course, you have the opportunity to choose a topic of interest to you and analyze it from a social psychological perspective. You will then write a literature review (see Bem, 2016), which is a scholarly paper, written in an objective and academic tone, focused on a particular subject. To do this, you must gather, review, and summarize relevant theory and research.

For example, if you chose to examine a proverb, such as Opposites attract, you would first find scholarly articles outlining the major predictors of attraction and testing this notion specifically. Begin your paper with a clear stance on the topicyes, opposites do attract, or no, they do notand then present the evidence in an organized fashion to support your thesis.

The topic of your literature review might come from the following list, or you may choose to identify a different area of interest. Scan your textbook for relevant concepts to explore. However, if you choose something other than the options below, you are encouraged to obtain permission from your instructor prior to writing/submitting the paper to ensure the suitability of your topic.

Here are some ideas you might choose to explore:

Accuracy of proverbs
Example: Dont judge a book by its cover or Beauty is a good letter of introduction. In other words, what can one conclude based on appearance alone?
Example: Absence makes the heart grow fonder or Out of sight, out of mind. In other words, do long distances or extended amounts of time strengthen relationship ties, or weaken them?
Example: Birds of a feather flock together or Opposites attract. In other words, are people attracted to similar or dissimilar others?
Impact of titles/labels
Example: How do team mascots (such as the Redskins or Braves) impact Native Americans (self-esteem, stereotype threat, etc.)?
Example: How do labels (such as smart/stupid, crazy or criminal, etc.) impact peoples mental processes and behaviors?
Altruism
Example: Does true altruism exist? What motivates people to help?
Explanatory style
Example: Do optimists experience better life outcomes than pessimists?
Persuasive appeals
Example: How do political campaigns utilize various techniques?
Self-esteem
Example: Is there a dark side? Can one be too confident?
School size
Example: Do students fare better in big schools or small schools? Why?
Reactance
Example: What is the theory behind reverse psychology?
Gender differences
Example: in aggression, sex, etc.
A form of prejudice
Example: fat prejudice, racial prejudice, etc.
Psychology and the law
Example: jury behavior, etc.
Other: If you have something else in mind, contact your instructor as soon as possible to ensure the topic is appropriate and to seek additional direction.
In your paper,

Analyze the social psychological literature for evidence that supports your thesis, providing a Synthesis (Links to an external site.) of your findings. Be sure to dispel refuting evidence.
Illustrate specific social psychological concepts using real life examples.
Examine relevant situational factors.
Identify social and cultural forces at work.
Indicate potential ethical considerations in research on this topic or application of insight.
The final paper

Must be seven double-spaced pages at minimum (not including title and reference pages) and formatted according to APA Style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Centers APA Style (Links to an external site.) resource.

Talent Turnover and Ethics

This Competency Assessment assesses the following outcomes: The 4 Checklist must be met

MT203M4-4: Describe training methods for improving employee performance.
GEL-7.02: Apply ethical reasoning to ethical issues within the field of study.

Introduction: Using the appropriate training and development methods can have significant effects on employee performance and the success or failure of a company. Similarly, ethics also can impact how employees and the company are perceived, which can ultimately affect the success of the company.

Read the scenario and address the checklist items regarding employee training, development, and ethics.

Scenario: The technology company you work for has had difficulties resulting from expert employees leaving the company after only 6 months to a year of employment. This turnover has caused client software projects to not be completed as scheduled. The CEO has turned to you as the HR director to find out what is wrong and to recommend a remedy. You do some initial investigations only to find that the salaried, full-time employees at this level of expertise are working 60 hours a week or more on a regular basis. You are concerned not only for the business implications of this attrition problem but the ethical implications.

Checklist:

Describe the companys problem in your own words from a business and ethical perspective.
Choosing one of the ethical approaches from the Learning Activity, describe what ethical approach you would use for the development of these employees and explain why.
Describe the training and development methods you would use to improve employee morale and motivation and to reduce attrition.
Submit your minimum 2-page (i.e., 500 words) response in an original essay with additional title and reference pages in APA format and citation style to the Dropbox.
