Select four sources, including at least one literary source from our textbook, that not only address your  social issue but have also been published in the same century (i.e., 1600-1699, 1700-1799, 1800-1899, 1900-1999, or 2000-2019). Some exceptions to this time-period rule may exist; check with the instructor if you have a question about your sources. Your annotated bibliography may include a combination of primary and secondary sources, including:

literary criticism
historical documents
newspaper articles
philosophical treatises
and more.
Entries from dictionaries and/or encyclopedias may not be used. Additionally, At least two sources must be accessed through the library catalogue. The information you provide for these two sources must demonstrate that the sources have been accessed through the library catalogue; this is typically accomplished by including the librarys URL or DOI for the source. Please include this relevant information in the bibliographic entries for these sources; if it is not included, I will assume the sources were not accessed through the library, and the project will lose points.

Annotations

Each entry in the annotated bibliography should contain information about the publication, formatted according to MLA conventions, as well as a summary of the source. The summary should include the points below.

The title of the source
The author of the source. If information about the author is included, it may not exceed one sentence.
The purpose of the source
The main idea (or thesis) of the source
The key supporting details of the source
In the final draft, a brief introductory paragraph that precedes the four annotated bibliography entries should be included to offer an argument regarding what comment(s) all four sources offer on a social issue of that century.

Introduction
Briefly introduce the topic of the analysis (about 100150 words):

State the topic and intent of the paper.

Identify the two threats you will discuss in the paper which are Inappropriate Use of Technology and Energy Sources, in the order in which they appear in the paper.

Section I. Threat 1-Inappropriate Use of Technology
Write an opening statement describing the perception of the threat.
Write one page giving three reasons that explain why you saw this threat as less critical than the four you chose for your presentation in the Presentation on the Threats to the Global Environment assignment.
Support these reasons with at least three credible sources.

Section II. Threat 2-Energy Sources
Write an opening statement describing the perception of the threat.
Write one page giving three reasons to explain why you saw this threat as less critical than the four you chose for your presentation in the Presentation on the Threats to the Global Environment assignment.
Support these reasons with at least three credible sources.

Conclusion
Offer a summary (one page or less) of your defense of your choices that the United Nations can use to address their prioritization concerns.

Formatting Requirements
Your paper may consist of up to four pages (not including the cover or reference pages).
Create headings for each section of your paper as follows:
Introduction.
Threat 1 (Inappropriate Use of Technology).
Threat 2 (Energy Sources).
Conclusion.

Use and cite 46 credible sources in your analysis. You may use the same source for more than one threat as long as you use a minimum of four different sources.

Each week you will submit via Canvas written response papers to the weeks readings. The length of these will vary depending upon the number and nature of that weeks readings. These response papers should include, for each assigned reading: a) a summary of the authors argument; b) what you learned from the readings; c) a question that you think would make for useful further discussion in class.
Read for class Monday March 15:
Alessandro Monti, The Seeds of Violence in Domesticity:  the Case of Post Independence India, in Journal of Postcolonial Cultures and Societies Vol. 2, No 3, July 2011.

In a 2-3-page paper choose a film that you have watched  outside of class and address the following:

1. How has it affected or impacted you?
2. Choose one specific scene or sequence from a film (but not currently playing in theaters), and analyze  why it is an effective scene. Consider the composition (framing, mise en scene, etc.), the editing, and the sound.
Your chosen film  cannot be one that you used in either of the previous Discussion posts.

**You MUST include a link to the scene/sequence in your paper.**

Remember, your paper should not include a plot synopsis.  Incorporate terminology covered in course materials. The paper should be double-spaced, with a 12-point font, 1-inch margins on all sides. If applicable, please be sure to use proper citations for any resources you use.
This paper is due at 11:59PM Sunday at the end of Week 5.
Open these instructions in order to submit your paper.
Be sure to include your last name in the filename and a Resources page if you cited any sources in your paper.

**You MUST include a link to the scene/sequence in your paper.**

Identify a recent news event that depicts stereotypes, prejudice or discrimination. Provide the article describing the event youve chosen. Briefly describe the news event and indicate the basis of discrimination and/or prejudice, or stereotyped (for example, social class, ethnicity, gender, age, race, sexual orientation or religion). Apply one of the social psychological theories to explain why an individual/organization in this situation was influenced by prejudice/descrimination or stereotyped. How does the level of social diversity in the relevant environment described in the event (e.g., family, school, work or community) explain why discrimination occurred? Your paper must be five pages in length and use five scholarly sources from peer reviewed journals.  Proper APA formatting must be applied.

Essay 2 Lens
You have done a close reading of Simone de Beauvoirs, Woman: Myth and Reality. Next, you will use some aspect of this text as a lens for analysis of a media text of your choice. You choose the medium- film, television, video, magazine, portrait, etc. You choose the time period- 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th wave. As a working strategy, brainstorm your initial analysis of your media text. Then outline the claims you intend to use from the theoretical text. Avoid summary of either one. Apply your theoretical text as a lens to your reading of your chosen media text to develop a deeper understanding of it.
Work closely with the texts, using them as evidence to support your claims and as material for further analysis. This essay should not be a matching exercise where you seek out only instances where the lens fits easily with the narrative. Elaborate on these instances, but you shouldnt ignore moments that might provide contradiction. Seek out differences. Feel free to challenge the limitations of the lens as you apply it to your text.

Present a brief report of your research on both sides of the issue. This should include the following:

Citation of your sources

Links to the sources where available

Brief description of the content of each of the sources (50 to 80 words for each source)

Your research review should address at least three (3) aspects:
Personal choice
Judgment by a physician
Religion and morality
Ethics

and must present at least one pro and one con article review on each aspect.
Sources should be scholarly or of very high substantive quality.

This is the first of two Disease Review papers that you will need to write this semester, and is worth 50 points.  Your paper must be between 3-4 pages and written in APA format with appropriate citations.

Please pick a disease of your choice (either communicable or non-communicable) and provide an in-depth review, answering the following questions:

What is the name of the disease or condition you selected?
Is this condition or disease meaningful to you, why or why not?
How does a person develop or get this disease?
What are three symptoms and three consequences of this disease or condition?
What are three (treatments) recommended ways to care for a person with this disease or condition?
What are two recent (within the last 2 years) research findings of this disease or condition?

Using quotes from MacDonald’s article, please write an MLA-formatted essay of FIVE or more paragraphs (an introduction, 3 or more body paragraphs, & a conclusion)/2-3 pages answering the following question:

    1 introduction paragraph
    3 or more body paragraphs
    1 conclusion paragraph
3+ quotes total from MacDonald (1-3 per body paragraph)
2-3 pages in length.  This means all the way to the very bottom of the second page at the absolute shortest, but not so long that it goes onto a fourth page.
MLA document format–i.e., double-spaced, Times New Roman, 12-pt font, etc. (A Works Cited page is not required for this first essay, but if you want to include one, that would be great practice.)
