Answer this discussion question:

“Owltown residents are expressing concerns about gun violence in the city and around the country.  A recent survey of citizens indicates that the public would like laws to be passed that will control both the demand- and supply-side of the gun markets.  Their belief is that legislation will have the biggest impact on this issue, which will ultimately lead to a reduction in gun violence.

You have been hired as policy support staff for Owltowns state representative, Eileen Tudor-Wright.  She is scheduled to speak to the State Senate tomorrow and needs you to put together a brief on the policies that she should put forth.  Representative Tudor-Wright favors 2nd Amendment protections, but also believes the state ultimately has a responsibility to ensure that evidenced-based policies are passed.  Representative Tudor-Wright is up for re-election next term and expects your brief to guarantee her seat in Washington.

Your job now is to present a brief to Representative Tudor-Wright that includes a short discussion for each gun policy that she should support.  She likes to be prepared for all questions, so make sure to provide her with citations in the case that somebody challenges her position.”

Based on the video above, Part 1 of Jazz, by Ken Burns, answer these questions.

1. What is one new or surprising thing you learned from the video? (A one sentence answer is fine.)

2. Prepare an essay describing the historical and cultural conditions and events that led to the development of jazz in New Orleans in the early 20th century (as depicted in the video). How did these conditions/events lead to the particular musical characteristics of jazz?

Your essay should be about one page in length, (including your short answer to question #1), and should use good English structure and correct spelling. The assignment is worth 10 points.

Grading
Here is the rubric I will use for grading:

Did the essay:

Answer the first question? 1 point

Describe the historical and cultural conditions and events that led to jazz? 4 points

Tell how these conditions/events led to the specific musical characteristics of jazz? 4 points

Correct spelling, punctuation, word usage, sentence structure. 1 point

Total points: 10

FOR VIDEO:

This video is from the longer series, JAZZ, done by Ken Burns.  The first episode, Gumbo, gives the background of jazz, and shows the cultural mix that existed in New Orleans that made the development of the music possible.  Although the music didn’t really develop until the beginning of the 20th century, the video begins before the Civil War, when the various cultures began to settle in New Orleans.  “Gumbo” is a thick soup containing a mix of various meats and seafoods, rice, and vegetables.  This is a metaphor for the mix of cultures that existed side by side in the city.

The video is 86 minutes long, and may take some time to load.  So wait, even if it takes several minutes, and even if it doesn’t seem to be doing anything.

To view the video, go directly to the library’s homepage, which is

Read the current controversy box on page 204 of your textbook. It asks “if a conflict exists between the rights guaranteed a criminal defendant and the rights provided a victim, whose rights should take precedence?” (Hemmens, Brody, & Spohn, 2020, p. 204). Imagine yourself as a defendant and then as a victim – what are your thoughts on the precedence of these rights if they conflict?

The paper will include the following sections:
a. Clinical Question.
Describe the problem. What is the focus of your groups work? AHRQs Healthcare-Associated Infection Program: Reducing CAUTIs in Hospitals.
Explain the significance of the problem in terms of patient outcomes. What health outcomes result from your problem? Or what statistics document this is a problem? You may find support on websites for government or professional organizations.
PICOT question in support of the group topic. The PICO(T) format is a way to develop a clinical question that lends itself to searching for evidence. PICO(T) is an initialism for:
P = population of interest;
I = intervention of interest;
C = comparison of interest;
O = outcome of interest; and
T = time.
State the purpose of your paper. What will your paper do or describe? This is similar to a problem statement. The purpose of this paper is to . . .
b. Levels of Evidence
Identify the type of question being asked (therapy, prognosis, meaning, etc.).
What is the best type of evidence to answer that question (e.g., RCT, cohort study, qualitative study, etc.)?
c. Search Strategy
List search terms and results.
Databases used. Link your search with the PICOT question described above.
Refinement decisions. As you did your search, what decisions did you make in refinement to get your required articles down to a reasonable number for review? Were any limits used? If so, what?
Identification of two (2) most relevant articles (primary sources published within the last 5 years).
d. Format
Correct grammar and spelling.
Include a title page.
Use of headings for each section.
Clinical Question, Levels of Evidence, Search Strategy, and Conclusion
Adheres to current APA formatting and guidelines.
3 pages in length, excluding title and reference pages.

Also lasting 5-7 minutes, the goal of this speech is to get your audience to DO something. You must compel your audience/classmates to ACT, think differently, or become more firmly entrenched in their views. For this speech, it is imperative that you find an idea about which you are passionate… For or against gun control, Black Lives Matter, Give Blood, Everyone should travel more, You should not eat GMO foods …. all of these are good topics. You must carefully research these speeches because strong sources and evidence add to your credibility and effectiveness. These speeches are evaluated on delivery, construction of arguments, organization, sources, topic choice, and whether or not the speech is actually persuasive.

Also please use the template given for the speech. I also need a keyword outline

Twenty-six years after the 4th U.N. Conference on the Status of Women in Beijing, we are still trying to achieve gender equity! According to the 2021 non-governmental organization statements for the March 2021 U.N. Conference on the Status of Women, what have two NGOs documented as ongoing issues for women? What do these groups recommend? Be sure to cite the organization and describe the issues and recommendations that they present. One must be an NGO in Latin America.

From the video, Oh Mercy, and assigned CHAPTER 3-5 Pea (2007), how are women and womens organizations attempting to meet the needs of women at the U.S. Mexico border or within Mexico? To what extent does religion influence their work? What keeps these women motivated to continue the work?

Last, how does this section of the course inspire you to build something different?

Discussion Questions:

    Explain what ARDS is.
    Explain what is significant with her lab results using the ABG normal values and the nursing mnemonic ROME which was also referenced in week #2 of this course.
    Explain what an appropriate treatment would be.

Case Study:

Mrs. Breathless is a 43-year-old female, just getting off the late shift. She reports to the ER in the early morning with shortness of breath. She has cyanosis of the lips. She has had a productive cough for 2 weeks. Her temperature is 102.2, blood pressure 110/76, heart rate 108, respiration 32, rapid and shallow. Breath sounds are diminished in both bases, with coarse rhonchi in the upper lobes. Chest X-ray indicates bilateral pneumonia.

    ABG (Arterial Blood Gases) Lab results are:

        pH= 7.44

        PaCO2= 28

        HCO3= 24

        PaO2= 54

Note: rhonchi are continuous low pitched rattling lung sounds that often resemble snoring or wheezes.

Problems:

    PaCO2 is low.

    pH is on the high side of normal, therefore compensated respiratory alkalosis.

    Also, PaO2 is low, probably due to mucous displacing air in the alveoli affected by the pneumonia.
