-Read the short novel: Siddhartha by Herman Hesse. Compose a 3-5 page response keying in on 8-10 quotes that sum up the main ideas of the novel. Provide the quotes and be sure to fully explain why you chose them and how they relate to Buddhism.
-Direct quotations over three typed lines long should be single-spaced and indented contra MLA
-In general, work in paragraphs (more than three sentences please) try not to over-quote, limit use of 1st person singular and plural, avoid clichs, use academic language (Avoid the following expressions: the author goes on, talks about, etc.) and watch overuse of pronouns.
-Proper Citation: All quotations and paraphrasing must be cited properly especially when you are quoting other authors or their ideas. Generally, this means using parenthetical (in-text) citations and referencing page numbers in the text (e.g.: Smith p. XX). But otherwise use MLA style.
