    Compare And Contrast Essay

    (a) Study the transition of images and storylines between early and recent Disney feature film—images of manhood, womanhood, male-female relations, age, race, ethnicity, class (you would study one or more of these images). OR

    (b) Relate characters and events in one or more films to some historical phenomena. OR

    c) Combine [a] and [b] above. For example, you could do a paper on the changing perceptions of women and work between Snow White and Seven Dwarves and Mulan, and include an explanation of how women’s changing roles in American society are reflected in the difference between Snow White and Mulan.

For main topic. This means that you must come up with a focus. For example, it is not enough to say that you want to compare and contrast Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and Maleficent. You must narrow down your idea and decide on the focus or theme of your comparison and contrast. Will you be comparing beauty standards? Leadership roles? Family roles (mother, wife, lover)? Changing images of body types? The meaning of magic in relation to gender? The changing meanings of true love and the kiss? These are just examples of a focus. You should come up with your own thematic focus. And you should try to make it sound as sensible and direct as you can.

    Recognizing Employee Contributions

You are the HR manager of a relatively new retail company that has both retail stores and Internet sales.  Your company is steadily growing in revenue and profitability. The company realizes that in order to retain the solid, highly productive workforce it currently has in place, it is important to enhance the base compensation and benefits package offered to the employees. The company currently offers a basic compensation program and only federally mandated benefits. Employee surveys suggest the compensation and benefits program may be out of date. Employees are beginning to consider leaving the organization.

Write a six to eight (6-8) page paper in which you:

    1. Propose two (2) methods an HR professional could use to determine incentive pay. Specify the principal manner in which the proposed methods take into consideration individual, group, and company performance. Justify your response.
    2. Examine the core legal requirements affecting employee benefits in today’s competitive environment. Determine the legally mandated benefits that the company must currently offer to its employees.
    3. Recommend at least four (4) additional benefits that the organization should consider providing to its employees. Suggest at least three (3) important concepts that a company must consider when designing benefit plans. Provide a rationale for your response.
    4. Assess the efficiency of common techniques for effectively communicating compensation and benefit plans to employees. Support your answer.
    5. Suggest two (2) ethical risks of making incentive pay a large portion of employees’ total compensation. Propose two (2) recommendations for ways the company might mitigate or reduce these risks.
    6. Use at least four (4) quality academic (peer-reviewed) resources in this assignment. Note: Wikipedia and other Websites do not qualify as academic resources.

Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:

    • Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides; citations and references must follow APA or school-specific format. Check with your professor for any additional instructions.
    • Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student’s name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date. The cover page and the reference page are not included in the required assignment page length.

The specific course learning outcomes associated with this assignment are:

    • Examine the influences on and various approaches to compensation.
    • Analyze issues related to developing and implementing employee benefit packages.
    • Apply relevant theories and knowledge to human resource practices in organizations.
    • Use technology and information resources to research issues in human resource management foundations.
    • Write clearly and concisely about human resource management foundations using proper writing mechanics.

    Human Performance Technoloy

    1. Due to a down-turn in the economy, your company has been experiencing financial losses in revenue. You have been asked to put together a team that will find 3-5 low-cost or no-cost ways to resource costs by 25% for your company’s main product line. You are being given less 6 weeks to identify and test these cost-cutting measures. If they work in a pilot, you and your team guide the organization through the changes, if not your team will be “redeployed”. With no margin for error, you feel that it is imperative that evaluation be “right” from the beginning. Identify the evaluations and key decisions that need to be made in each of the next six weeks. (Reminder: this isn’t about designing the solutions but the plan to get to solutions.)

    2. What is the relationship between a cause analysis and a requirements definition (often a document)? How does one impact the other? How does information flow between the two? Also explain what a “cause analysis” is including what information is needed before starting the cause analysis, what information would be gathered during the analysis and what decisions would be made based on that analysis. Then, explain what requirements are and how they will be used.

    3. Explain what a “gap analysis” is including how gaps are defined and measured. Be sure to address how gap analysis relates to needs, requirements, design, project scoping, evaluation and evaluation planning.

    The Space Traders Essay

Read “The Space Traders” by Derrick Bell and write at least a five-paragraph essay on

Bell’s claims that “the space trade is somewhat familiar to the first African slave trade, and that these two events occur because of “the permanence of racism” in American society and the structures that allow this repetition to exist. Agree or disagree?

Reservoir Compartmentalization by Using Geochemical analysis

    1. Topic: Reservoir Compartmentalization Assessment by Using Geochemical analysis
    2. Define the background to the problem you are tackling; preferably state a question or hypothesis of some sort.
o Problem: Reservoir compartmentalization: refers to the presence of fluid flow barriers between two fluid sampling points.
o Significant variation of fluid type in the field: the oils in the field are mainly waxy black oils ranging between 20 and 31°API gravity.
    o Question or hypothesis: Example:
 How to detect reservoir compartmentalization using geochemical analysis?
 Why is there a significant variation of fluid types in different compartments?
 Are the oils in the same continuous reservoir or do they belong to separate reservoir compartments?
 How do the findings from the Jawdah field reservoir compartmentalization assessment impact reservoir exploration globally?
    3. Explain the relevance and importance of what you intend to do; explain why anyone should actually care about the work you are planning to do. Justify the work you are planning to do. Do not simply assume that the reader considers your work to be important; persuade them that it is important.
o Example: As the production of oil becomes more expensive, the importance of developing advanced techniques to minimize uncertainties during extraction of hydrocarbon is vital. Analysing the faults and fluid behaviour within a single reservoir is also essential during appraisal and production phases, as faults can have a significant impact in developing a field, whereby the fluid quality play a key role in the production rate. However, faults can cause reservoir compartmentalization in a field, which be challenging to detect with limited data and analysis. The oil industry around the globe are currently investigating best approaches in predicting and identifying the implication of reservoir compartmentalization on fluid flow all over the field lifetime.

    4. Define what you actually intend to do (give the work-plan) to solve the problem.
o The materials used in this research include 24 oil samples of around 10 ml from the Gharif and Al Khlata formations in the Jawdah field.
o 3 geochemical analysis will be used to interpret the 24 oil samples
 SARA analysis :(saturates, aromatics, resins, asphaltenes)
 Reservoir oil fingerprinting (ROF): is a combination of analytical and interpretive techniques that utilizes the "fingerprint" of oils to determine whether they are part of the same reservoir compartment.
     Biomarker analysis
o Two software’s will be utilized to interpret the generated data from the given 3 techniques.
     Xcalibur software
     Petrel software

    5. Explain the type of results that you will produce.
    o Whole-oil Gas chromatographic
    o Whole oil bulk composition
    o Oil Chemical composition
o Whole Oil Carbon Isotope Analysis
o Concertation of saturates, aromatics, resins and asphaltenes and plots illustrating ( saturated hydrocarbons vs aromatic hydrocarbons)
    o Biodegradation rate
    6. Explain how you will interpret the results.
o By integrating the newly generated data in order to understand and validate reservoir compartmentalization in Jawdah field using the following outcomes:
 Gas chromatography measurements on whole oils will be utilized for quantifying major saturated and aromatic compounds.
 Oil type (origin of the oil)
     Charge history
     Source-oil correlation
     Hydrocarbon thermal maturity
     Biodegradation
o Principle component analysis (PCA) will be used to screen peak height ratios, for the use in the oil correlations and to identify groups of similar oils.
o Comparing the data with 4 PVT reports from 4 wells across the Jawdah field.
    7. Explain what training will be required.
o Example: Reservoir compartmentalization is consequently a key ambiguity that must be precisely measured throughout the assessment of oil reservoirs in the mandate to circumvent unanticipated compartmentalization at the fluid production stage. The training is mandatory for the capability to rationalize, visualize and describe the variety of fluid composition across the field willingness to advance the understanding of reservoir compartmentalization. Hence, training for analyzing data from biomarkers and oil fingerprinting is needed to provide an additional positive outlook of reservoir connectivity.

    8. Explain the science impact of your planned work.
o Example: The outcomes of this research will assist in determining and understating the cause of variation of oil quality within the reservoir. The investigation work demonstrated that organic geochemistry will be a beneficial and valuable in detecting reservoir compartmentalization in the Jawdah field. It is expected to be an efficient method in enhancing oilfield production and to be used as an analogue for predicting reservoir compartmentalization in a single field.
