Analyze and discuss St. Anselm’s Ontological Argument for the existence of God

Anslem’s Ontological Argument

Anselm’s Proslogion, from which you read in preparation for this module, presents us with an argument for the existence of God that has widely come to be known as the Ontological Argument. The label, Ontological Argument, isn’t Anselm’s own name for the argument, but it captures the point that Anselm argues from the very idea of the being (Greek: ontos) of God to the necessary existence of God.

Anselm begins by defining what he means by God, namely, the greatest possible being, or in Anselm’s parlance, “that-than- which-nothing-greater-can-be-conceived.” Armed with this understanding of God, Anselm proceeds to offer the following argument (click each link below for additional explanation):

Premise 1: Since the idea of God is not incoherent, then it is conceivable that God exists. In other words, God exists in the understanding.

Premise 2: If God exists in the understanding, then God must also exist in reality.

The literature review part should be the main text with 5 chapters (which include their own introductions and conclusions), sections, and subsections. Normally the main text consists of:

o   One or two theoretical/conceptual chapters, which includes a literature review of the theoretical angle you choose for your thesis as well as the construction of a conceptual framework and/or hypotheses.

o   One or two empirical chapters, where either describe the data collected or where you describe your case studies or other material relevant for your research questions

o   One discussion chapter, where you relate your theoretical/conceptual part to the empirical data from the field or a case study.

Business law (final contract analysis)

Report structure:

1.       Chosen topic: Not necessary to be your final dissertation topic.

2.       Research background:  Students should conduct literature review and clarify research objectives/questions based on the chosen topic (Max. 300 words)

3.       Research design : Students should explain which research design(s)  is/are adopted and explain why this is appropriate for the chosen topic

4.       Chosen samples: Students should explain who is the target group, how do they select samples (sampling method) and sample size. Students can choose either qualitative, or quantitative or mixed methods. The minimum size of survey is 30 and minimum size of interview is 5. Finally, students must justify their choice.

5.       Research instrument: Students should explain the measurement items if chosen research is survey and describe/explain why the questions of survey questionnaire are chosen.  The interview questions/guide should be explained and justified. The length of survey/interview questions is flexible.

6.       Data analysis: Students should explain which method is chosen to analyse data and why this method is chosen.  For quantitative data analysis, students should explain what kind of analyses would be undertaken and why these statistics are chosen. For Interviews, students should clarify which analytical method is chosen and explain why. Hypotheses testing may not be necessary for quantitative data.

7.       Results: For qualitative results, students should report findings and include transcription in the appendices. For quantitative data, SPSS results should be demonstrated and explained. (Max. 500 words)

8.       References: Students should read up-to-date  relevant journal articles as well as  the textbooks/academic articles  in relation to the chosen methodology. (Min.  20 references)

Perceived Stress, schizotypy and paranormal belief Please produce a dissertation results section following APA guidelines and to include table and relevant graph/plots in apa format.
A hierarchical regression has been performed using paranormal belief as the dependent variable.
Predictor variables:
block 1 – Unusual experiences (UE)
block 2 – Impulsive nonconformity (IN)
block 3 – stress

Schizotypy was measured using the o-life short scale and the sub-scales of UE and IN were chosen due to their relevance to paranormal belief and previous research.

The study aims to gain understanding of the effects of stress and schizotypy on paranormal belief with the hypothesis that stronger paranormal belief will be associated with individuals experiencing higher levels of perceived stress whilst being placed at the higher end of the schizotypy continuum.

In terms of speculation from the results, UE and stress are sig. positively correlated but on UE is a sig. predictor of paranormal belief. So it seems that high levels of UE can predict paranormal beliefs but how stressed you are does not have a bearing on your paranormal belief.

"The Future of Public Administration" Please respond to the following.

· Imagine that you are Woodrow Wilson visiting the White House today. Compose a list of five (5) flaws that Wilson might identify, based on his perception of a so-called “good” public administration. Debate whether your listed flaws are likely real, perceived, or relative to the current social and cultural climate. Provide a rationale for your response.

· Interpret the overall manner in which the current economic climate might dictate the major themes of public sector management going forward. Provide a rationale for your response.

"Funding for Education" Please respond to the following:

· Evaluate the disparity of Alabama’s budget allocation for education and property tax to the various localities. Based on your assessment, challenge or defend the equity of the system across the various localities.

· Identify and explain your choices for reductions and increases. Discuss at least two lessons you learned about the challenge of balancing the federal budget.

"General Taxes" Please respond to the following:

Review the following scenario and then analyze the impact of tax holidays on the budget.

Scenario: Several states have declared sales tax holidays for which the state does not collect sales tax on selected items for those day or days. In most instances, the holiday has applied to purchases of clothing and the period has been a week to 10 days in August. The primary reason is to provide a “back-to-school” discount as families get ready for the upcoming year; however, in recent years, some states have proposed or enacted holidays for hurricane survival supplies, gasoline, Energy Star appliances, and guns and ammunition.
