Celebrating your Success

In Chapter 11, Thomas (2009) discussed the five ways individuals can build their sense of progress. Briefly explain each one of these.  Which of these five building blocks do you believe you already do well? What area do you think you need to improve on? Make sure to explain your answer.

According to Thomas (2009) what are three concerns employees have about celebrating their successes and accomplishments? Are there any concerns missing from this list?

Think for a moment about yourself. Do you celebrate your accomplishments and success at work? Why or why not? If you do not, what keeps you from celebrating your successes? How can you overcome this and start celebrating your successes? How do you think celebrating success relates to motivation?

Discussion Topic

With so many individuals using the Internet today, the psychology of the individual, the family, the community, and the society has changed. Some might argue that the traditional psychological theories cannot be applied and therefore psychology as an entire field needs to be revamped to incorporate the impact and the application of internet technology. As a student completing a bachelor’s degree in psychology, your future career will undoubtedly incorporate the use of the Internet in very new ways. Read the following article from the AUO Library:

Ritterband, L. M., Gonder-Frederick, L., Cox, D. J., Clifton, A. D., West, R. W., & Borowitz, S. M. (2003). Internet interventions: In review,
in use, and into the future. Professional Psychology: Research and
Practice, 34(5), 527-534.

Identify a problem area or psychological issue that could benefit from the use of an internet intervention. Now, using what you learned from the article, propose an internet intervention using the following guidelines:

  1. What problem area would the internet intervention address?
  2. Provide a general description of the proposed internet intervention.
  3. How would the effectiveness of the proposed intervention be tested?
  4. What are any legal and ethical issues related to the proposed intervention? Include the specific APA ethical standard(s) in your response.

  • Why do you continue it? Has there been a time when you have attempted to break this habit?
  • Use the behavioral personality theory to explain why you have this habit.
  • Describe components of social-cognitive theory that explain why the habit formed.
  • Develop a plan that applies operant conditioning to change this habit.
  • Between the behavioral and social-cognitive theories, which one do you find best explains your personality?

Include detailed speaker notes on each slide, along with title and reference slides.

Provide 3 to 4 references.

Format any citations in your presentation according to APA guidelines

      Risk Paper

Write a four-page paper regarding a project, either real or fictitious, where one is able to discuss how risks were identified, ranked, and monitored. The student is also welcome to write about a major purchase or major decision in his or her life, such as buying a new car, buying a new home, or even the decision to return to school to earn a degree. All of these are considered projects or procurement that require some form of formal or informal risk review. Your project and the risks you identify should be significant enough to merit the risk management process. The risks should not just be typical but should actually put the project in jeopardy. You should use a risk register to support the process of identification, ranking, and monitoring. You do need to illustrate the use of your process with actual risks discussed in your project.
