Criminal Justice System—Social Influence

Criminal Justice System—Social Influence

This week's discussion will continue the theme of social influence on the criminal justice system. For this assignment you will discuss the role of the community and "social control" in corrections.

Using the South University Online Library or the Internet, research an example of a restorative justice program and describe it for the class. How does it work? What type of offenders does it involve? Is it effective? What is your opinion of the program? Click here to find articles describing restorative justice programs.

What are the aims of restorative justice programs in general? Be sure to emphasize on the victim while answering these questions.

Analyze whether restorative justice programs would be more effective for juvenile offenders than for adults.

Describe the role that "social control" plays in the restorative justice process.

Analyze whether an offender's community and social network can be more effective than the formal system in "correcting" his or her behavior.

Application Process Paper

Write a 350- to 700-word paper detailing sources you would use if applying for a position detailed in any of the criminal justice field job announcements you chose. Include steps you would take in preparation for each phase of the typical employment process based on the design of your flowchart. Include the following in your paper: (Probation Officer or Social Worker)

· Detail the three most important attributes of a successful candidate to a mock interviewer.

· Explain the process strategy for meeting the correctional career challenges based on the job announcements you chose.

· Prepare at least three questions you would ask a mock hypothetical interviewer based on the job announcements you chose.

Format your paper consistent with APA guidelines.

Attach a copy of both announcements or send the link for both job announcements along with your Application Process Flowchart and Application Process Paper.

Application Process Flowchart

Discuss the attributes of successful candidates and application process strategy for meeting correctional career challenges.

Research two job announcements in the correctional field from two different job banks or sources that align with your most desired, corrections-related position upon graduation from this program. (Probation Officer & Social Worker)

Design a 1-page flowchart, using either Microsoft® Visio® or Microsoft® Excel® software that clearly and logically identifies each of the sequential steps you will take to prepare and apply for one of your desired positions. (Probation Officer or Social Worker)

Reference any material used in your flowchart using APA format.

Corporate and Organizational Ethics

The Magazine of Corporate Responsibility (http://business-ethics.com/) is an online periodical published quarterly since 1987 to promote ethical business practices among professionals.

·  Start with an article published in the magazine and use it as a topic for a research paper.

In previous modules, you have been provided with templates that have specific and ordered subject headings. This time the organization of the submission is up to you, and only a basic template is provided. After three modules of work, you are prepared and ready for the challenge. Rise to the occasion and create a flowing and research-forward case that highlights your critical thinking and style.

Relying on a single resource is not adequate at this level of study. As a scholar and professional, you have a responsibility to support research with appropriate attribution. Every new point requires support. Today’s leaders are required to have a broad knowledge base that they continue to develop throughout their careers and lives.

Best And Worst Instructions

In about 2 d/s typed or written pages each, I would like you to write about the worst and best instructions (or directions) you’ve ever received with something you bought. In one document, write about the worst instructions. In another document, write about the best instructions—briefly explain what you liked/disliked. In my own case, the worst instructions I have ever received were for a portable gas grill. By far, the best were for a bookcase from Ikea.  The instructions can be ones you used for assembling furniture, a computer, an appliance etc. It can even be for something like coloring your hair, doing some arts and crafts project.

Visuals include:
Any visuals or graphics used to clarify the instructions. You need to evaluate how effective or useful they are.

Level of detail:
How descriptive or detailed they instructions are. Conversely, this could be poorly detailed or developed.

Courageous Conversations and Common Ground

Courageous Conversations and Common Ground”

After attending the workshop, please take some time to reflect on the experience.

What stood out to you from the experience?

What did you learn?

What can you see yourself using in the future?

Think of one example of how the skills used in the workshop could help you have a productive conversation about a public health topic.

Hospitality Management

The management process comprises of seven basic activities or tasks. Put yourself into your ideal position in the hospitality industry. Define each of the seven (planning, organizing, coordinating, staffing, directing, controlling, and evaluating )and identify an example of how you would participate in each activity. Be specific – use examples and what if scenarios. Use what you have learned in your text, combine it with additional research and logical reasoning.

Submission Instructions: This paper needs to be approximately 750 words and cited using APA format. Refer to the grading rubric and assignment labeling guidelines for specifics.

Reservoir Compartmentalization by Using Geochemical analysis

1. Topic: Reservoir Compartmentalization Assessment by Using Geochemical analysis
2. Define the background to the problem you are tackling; preferably state a question or hypothesis of some sort.
o Problem: Reservoir compartmentalization: refers to the presence of fluid flow barriers between two fluid sampling points.
o Significant variation of fluid type in the field: the oils in the field are mainly waxy black oils ranging between 20 and 31°API gravity.
o Question or hypothesis: Example:
 How to detect reservoir compartmentalization using geochemical analysis?
 Why is there a significant variation of fluid types in different compartments?
 Are the oils in the same continuous reservoir or do they belong to separate reservoir compartments?
 How do the findings from the Jawdah field reservoir compartmentalization assessment impact reservoir exploration globally?
3. Explain the relevance and importance of what you intend to do; explain why anyone should actually care about the work you are planning to do. Justify the work you are planning to do. Do not simply assume that the reader considers your work to be important; persuade them that it is important.
o Example: As the production of oil becomes more expensive, the importance of developing advanced techniques to minimize uncertainties during extraction of hydrocarbon is vital. Analysing the faults and fluid behaviour within a single reservoir is also essential during appraisal and production phases, as faults can have a significant impact in developing a field, whereby the fluid quality play a key role in the production rate. However, faults can cause reservoir compartmentalization in a field, which be challenging to detect with limited data and analysis. The oil industry around the globe are currently investigating best approaches in predicting and identifying the implication of reservoir compartmentalization on fluid flow all over the field lifetime.

4. Define what you actually intend to do (give the work-plan) to solve the problem.
o The materials used in this research include 24 oil samples of around 10 ml from the Gharif and Al Khlata formations in the Jawdah field.
o 3 geochemical analysis will be used to interpret the 24 oil samples
 SARA analysis :(saturates, aromatics, resins, asphaltenes)
 Reservoir oil fingerprinting (ROF): is a combination of analytical and interpretive techniques that utilizes the "fingerprint" of oils to determine whether they are part of the same reservoir compartment.
 Biomarker analysis
o Two software’s will be utilized to interpret the generated data from the given 3 techniques.
 Xcalibur software
 Petrel software

5. Explain the type of results that you will produce.
o Whole-oil Gas chromatographic
o Whole oil bulk composition
o Oil Chemical composition
o Whole Oil Carbon Isotope Analysis
o Concertation of saturates, aromatics, resins and asphaltenes and plots illustrating ( saturated hydrocarbons vs aromatic hydrocarbons)
o Biodegradation rate
6. Explain how you will interpret the results.
o By integrating the newly generated data in order to understand and validate reservoir compartmentalization in Jawdah field using the following outcomes:
 Gas chromatography measurements on whole oils will be utilized for quantifying major saturated and aromatic compounds.
 Oil type (origin of the oil)
 Charge history
 Source-oil correlation
 Hydrocarbon thermal maturity
 Biodegradation
o Principle component analysis (PCA) will be used to screen peak height ratios, for the use in the oil correlations and to identify groups of similar oils.
o Comparing the data with 4 PVT reports from 4 wells across the Jawdah field.
7. Explain what training will be required.
o Example: Reservoir compartmentalization is consequently a key ambiguity that must be precisely measured throughout the assessment of oil reservoirs in the mandate to circumvent unanticipated compartmentalization at the fluid production stage. The training is mandatory for the capability to rationalize, visualize and describe the variety of fluid composition across the field willingness to advance the understanding of reservoir compartmentalization. Hence, training for analyzing data from biomarkers and oil fingerprinting is needed to provide an additional positive outlook of reservoir connectivity.

Anthropometry

Only those participants who had full sets of data reported in the way instructed are included in this excel sheet. Any data which was handed in but was not appropriate has not been included. Missing data make it very difficult for data collection and are aspects which we should always try to avoid. Please try and make sure you follow instructions as well as possible.

Overall, as a group, we tend to see more female data. This time round we only had 2 male participant's data. Generally, the nutrition programme tends to recruit more females so not easy to do gender comparisons.
