The Diversity Movement

The diversity movement suggests that there is strength in our  differences and that our differences enhance each other. At the same  time, the movement insists that our differences should not have  economic, social, or political consequences. We are entitled to the same  access to resources and opportunities regardless of our differences.  The human suffering from Hurricane Katrina and the images of victims has  stimulated the debate about differential access to resources.

Read the report Women in the Wake of the Storm: Examining the Post-Katrina Realities of the Women of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast. On the basis of your reading, create a report, answering the following:

• Discuss the prominent dimensions of diversity revealed as a result of the Hurricane Katrina disaster.
• Discuss factors that specifically influenced women's vulnerability  to Hurricane Katrina. While answering, consider the primary dimensions  mentioned in the lectures as well as the secondary dimensions such as  parental and marital status, income, educational level, military  experience, geographic location, work background, and religious beliefs.

Eldercare In Public Health Law

Many laws, policies, and initiatives in public health are developed to try to create more equity in access to healthcare or to decrease the disparities that some people experience. It is difficult to determine when one population has received sufficient attention and another population should replace them at the forefront of advocacy and/or attention. The neurological system affects all parts and functions of the body through nerve stimulation. Nerves also control the sensation and perception of pain. While pain can be described in a variety of ways, it is essentially labeled according to its duration and source. As an advanced practice nurse evaluating a patient, you need to consider the following questions: Does the pain quickly come and go, or is it persistent and ongoing? Does the pain arise at the source of injury or in another location? In this Discussion, you compare three common types of pain—acute, chronic, and referred.

· Review this week’s media presentation on the neurological system, as well as Chapter 14 in the Huether andMcCance text.

· Identify the pathophysiology of acute, chronic, and referred pain. Consider the similarities and differences between these three types of pain.

PICOT: Diabetes Management In Hispanic Community

Describe the significance of the evidence-based project that can be implemented in the primary care setting. "Gung Ho" movie essay

2. Read the review of Gung Ho posted by Roger Ebert after its original debut in 1986.
Embedded in his review, as well as in the criticisms of others, is the idea that cultural characteristics displayed in
Gung Ho are at times notably superficial and exaggerated.Similar criticism has
been levied at other films depicting cultural differences as well.
In your opinion, does cultural stereotyping and/or exaggerating cultural differences in cinema or
other forms of mass media have serious implications for individuals’ understanding of culture?

During our class section on “cultural values in organizational behavior,” one area that was discussed in judging differences between cultures/countries was that of “crosstab models” for capturing differences. A sample crosstab model was also included in the slides. A similar model also appears in the assigned reading for class on that day.
