Spend quality time responding to the following questions in your own words.

  1. Describe warranty requirements and explain the three common types of warranties.
  2. If your purchase does not come with a written warranty, is it still covered by an implied warranty? What if the product is marked “as is”? Do all states permit “as is” sales?
  3. Describe what product liability means and explain negligence and misrepresentation.
  4. Describe strict product liability and company liability. Please provide a company example pertaining to product liability.

ABIS audit

An initial ABIS audit shows that many areas of the lab are not prepared to conduct extensive computer forensic evidence collection. You have been asked to prepare a set of recommendations on how to handle the following areas and related problems:

  • Technology: Should we outsource any applications/functions? What new technology applications are required to accommodate e-business?

The aforementioned questions are intended to get you started, but consider other challenges within each area that could be addressed.

Individual Portion:

Each member of the team should research one of the topics from the assignment description and make several key recommendations for his or her area. Apply your learning in technology coursework, personal experience, and Internet research to make recommendations in each of these areas. Where you do not have sufficient background information from the case study, you may make assumptions—as long as they are stated and supported.

Legal & Ethical Implications Of Business Formation

Students will be expected to post their first initial discussion board posting by Friday of each week. Discussion posts will be graded and late submissions will be assigned a late penalty in accordance with the late penalty policy found in the syllabus. NOTE: All submission posting times are based on midnight Central Time.

Students are expected to post their responses to peers by Tuesday. NOTE: All submission posting times are based on midnight Central Time.

Primary Task Response: Within the Discussion Board area, write 400–600 words that respond to the following questions with your thoughts, ideas, and comments. This will be the foundation for future discussions by your classmates. Be substantive and clear, and use examples to reinforce your ideas.

Part 1 (Post this response in the main U5 DB thread “Unit 5 Discussion Board”)

Businesses created in the United States are required to comply with U.S. laws and must act ethically. Recall that the law creates a minimum amount of behavior obligatory by businesses in humanity, whereas ethics requires more. Ethics is a major consideration in examining the actions of managers and the function of business organizations. An ethically minded business focuses on the following:

  • Integrity: Focusing on the character of the individuals involved in the decision or action
  • Consequences: Focusing on good and bad decisions
  • Duties, obligations, and principles: Focusing on fairness, justice, and respect for individuals and property

As the manager of your restaurant, you want to have a clear understanding of how to handle ethical issues that arise. You conduct some research and discover there are six steps to ethical decision making. List, explain, and give an example of the six steps of ethical decision making that businesses can follow. Then, choose a business that you believe acts ethically and is socially responsible. Once you select a business, provide examples of how your company is acting with social responsibility.

Part 2 (Post this response in the appropriate topic within U5 DB)

You decide that your restaurant is going to be socially responsible by implementing a corporate social responsibility plan. Under this plan, your restaurant is going to perform a series of fundraisers, donate leftover goods to homeless shelters, purchase only locally grown produce, and so on. Based on the first initial of your last name, complete the following:

  • First initial M–Z: Provide an argument that supports the decision to implement the corporate social responsibility plan for the restaurant. Provide research, legal terminology, and cite a legal case to support your argument. Submit your position by posting in the Unit 5 Debate Forum under the FOR topic.
  • First initial A–L: Provide an argument against implementing the decision to implement the corporate social responsibility plan for the restaurant. Provide research, legal terminology, and cite a legal case to support your argument. Submit your position by posting in the Unit 5 Debate Forum under the AGAINST topic.

Population Genetics and Human Evolution Complete the following discussions: The Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium states that allele frequencies remain constant across generations unless certain influences are introduced, such as nonrandom matings or mutations. Describe the Hardy-Weinberg principle. Are there influences that deviate from the principle? If so, what are they? If no, why? Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) profiling is a tool used in forensic investigation and paternity testing. This technique is often used by forensic scientists to identify individuals on the basis of their DNA profiles. How is DNA profiling performed? What are some of the novel uses of DNA profiling, other than those described in your textbook? Sickle-cell disease is an example of balanced polymorphism as carriers of this disease are protected against malaria. Describe an example of balanced polymorphism, other than sickle-cell disease, glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency, phenylketonuria (PKU), prior protein mutation, cystic fibrosis (CF), and Smith-Lemli-Opitz syndrome (SLOS). Genetic ancestry testing is becoming popular as more and more people are trying to trace their ancestry. Two different types of tests are generally offered, mitochondrial DNA, which traces maternal lineages, and Y chromosome testing, which traces paternal lineages. Does genetic ancestry testing provide a complete picture of a person’s heritage? If so, how? If not, why not?

Summative Discussion Board

Review and reflect on the knowledge you have gained from this course.  Based on your review and reflection, write at least 3 paragraphs on the  following:

  • What were the most compelling topics learned in this course?
  • How did participating in discussions help your understanding of  the subject matter? Is anything still unclear that could be clarified?
  • What approaches could have yielded additional valuable information?
  • The main post should include at least 1 reference to research sources, and all sources should be cited using APA format.

Responses to Other Students: Respond to at least 2  of your fellow classmates with at least a 100-word reply about his or  her Primary Task Response regarding items you found to be compelling and  enlightening. To help you with your discussion, please consider the  following questions:

IT 401 Individual Project 5

The final step in developing the Consultant’s Analysis Report on  Enterprise Systems is to provide an analysis of the costs and benefits  of the system and offer your final conclusions and recommendations to  the client. Sufficient information should be available in the report  sections prepared in previous weeks to allow final review of the  required resources and assign costs to the project. The benefits to the  client can then be compared to the costs and your conclusions given. You  will also further refine the plan to produce the final draft version  for the project. Updates may be based on peer and instructor feedback.

The following are the project deliverables:

  • Update the Consultant’s Analysis Report on Enterprise Systems title page with a new date and project name.
  • Update the previously completed sections based on your instructor’s feedback.
  • Include the following new content:
    • Final Analysis
      • Summarize the resource requirements for the system required for  implementation. These resources should include development costs if the  system is internally developed or acquisition costs if it is an  externally developed system.
      • Assign costs to all resources.
      • Identify short- and long-term benefits to the organization in financial terms.
      • Compare and contrast the costs and benefits.
      • Provide conclusions and recommendations to the client.
  • Consultant’s Analysis Report on Enterprise Systems final draft:
    • Review the entire document for any changes and improvements that you would like to make.
    • Ensure this final version of the document is sufficiently detailed to meet the requirements of the assignment.
    • Any previous instructor feedback should be addressed with the appropriate changes.
  • Be sure to update your table of contents before submission.
  • Name the document “yourname_IT401_IP5.doc.”

In a 2 page Microsoft Word document, create a work sheet by answering the Questions for Research and Discussion provided for the case study

  • 7. Explain why the increased prevalence of sickle cell disease among African Americans actually has more to do with the environment than skin color or other phenotypes used to define races.
  • 8. List other examples of balanced polymorphism.
  • 9. Identify a population group with a high prevalence of sickle cell disease other than Africans.
  • 10. List six genetic diseases that are more common among Ashkenazi Jews than among other population groups.
