For what product would these factors not influence your purchase decision?

Your journal entry must be at least 200 words. No references or citations are necessary.

1. Explain some of the tips on assessing job candidates. What are five additional tips that you would add? Explain, in detail, why you would add each additional tip.

2. How are strategies translated into action plans for health care organizations?

Your response should be at least 200 words in length.

3.  Describe the idea of “balanced scorecard” in modern health care delivery. How did this idea emerge in U. S. medicine? Do you support this approach to measure health care performance? Why, or why not?

Your response should be at least 500 words in length.

Unit VIII Final Project

Throughout this course, you will be developing what is known as a strategic management action plan (MAP).

When all the strategic planning is done and the written strategic plan document exists, then it is time for management action planning based upon our strategies.

This is where so many health care organizations of all types fall short.

The same level of effort that went into creating the strategic plan needs to continue as we take action, measure progress, and reassess over time.

Management action planning is a step-by-step approach developed to help health care leaders plan the action steps that will lead to positive change for our organizations. The strategic plan sets the direction for us, and our MAPs get the work done, turning strategy into reality. Developing a MAP is a six-step process, and you will actually be practicing this MAP process as you create your course project. Some suggested MAP topics are provided here, and you are certainly free to propose your own topic if you like, perhaps something which truly needs to be addressed in your own organization. You may even find the MAP to be a valuable tool as you lead your own organization. By the time you reach Unit II, you should have determined your topic.

In Units II through VII, you will learn about each step of the six-step process. It is suggest that you work on each part of your MAP during the week it is discussed to ensure that you complete your project on time.

The completed project is due at the end of Unit VIII and should be in one of the following formats: .doc, .docx, .rtf, .pdf, or .txt.

The project should consist of a minimum of five double-spaced pages and should be in APA format.

Remember to cite any outside sources used to avoid plagiarism. Suggested Health Care topics include the following:

 Nursing Recruitment and Retention in Health Care

 Continuing Education Challenges

 Patient Care Technology

 Staff Safety on Duty

 Patient Safety in Hospitals

 Stakeholder Relationships

 Community Education Programs

 Disaster Preparedness

 Medical Director Involvement

 Quality Improvement Program for Health Care

 Patient Satisfaction

In considering healthcare system trade-offs, politics plays a major role. Understanding the strengths and weaknesses of the current Medicaid system in the United States based on individual state policies is important to the political and legal platforms each state faces. As organizations seek to implement HMIS and IT program development, upgrades, and evaluations the organizations must be capable of separating the IT failures, budget overruns, and exogenous changes in enrollment that affect the healthcare system. In a minimum of 250 words, discuss the following:

  • Who is responsible on the state political level to propose legislature to overcome healthcare organizations concerns (trade-off) relating to patient enrollment and budget overruns?
  • What is your state’s responsibility in preparation for healthcare change such as the ACA?
  • How do healthcare leader’s best integrate pre-existing conditions and long-term illness?

Guided Response: Respond to at least two of your classmates’ posts by Day 7. A substantive response is respectful, professional, unique, highlights the key points you have learned, adds your content knowledge, compares and contrasts, provides further research, is topic-related, and is at least five sentences in length.

Understanding the responsibility and concerns of healthcare is important in creating policies that leadership can use to streamline success. If strategic leadership is not realized over time,  healthcare organizations’ political influences may face challenges and create public disinterestedness in health policies.  These issues create restrictions  on the healthcare organization’s ability to meet its financial budget, gain community’s trust and involvement, and secure  political influence(s). This negatively impacts the overall performance of the healthcare organization. The ideas of process innovation, risk taking, health building analysis, and governance greatly impacts “sense-making” for those being led. These ideas bring understanding to the role of governance in the organization. Review the case study “Australian Surgery Indicator Makes the Front Page” in Chapter 15 of your textbook and discuss the following questions in a minimum of 250 words:

  • After your review, do the conclusions you draw from the case justify the headline? Why or why not?
  • Discuss the indications found in Table 15-1 and their effect on the health care organizations efficiency in elective surgery.
  • Evaluate the avoidable rate of canceled surgeries and develop an implementation plan to overcome the concerns.
  • Develop a mini policy to address the issues between the doctors and the organization.

Evidence-based medicine (EBM), previously translational medicine, can be defined as improving care based on empirical research and/or hands-on practice. The EBM’s approach is based on either direct patient care (bottom-up) or an experiment translated into guidelines (top-down).  EBM is used in either in conjunction or as quality assessment tool(s) for continuous quality improvement (CQI). The healthcare leader must utilize the evidence to promote healthcare quality.

  • Explain the process of evidence-based analysis.
  • Highlight the major players and their roles in EBM policy (i.e., government, providers, patients, etc.).
  • Explain the EBM “Levels of Evidence” as defined in your course text.
  • Review the case “Constraints of the ACA on Evidence-Based Medicine.”
  • Provide a written analysis of the case “Constraints of the ACA on Evidence-Based Medicine” in Chapter 9 of your textbook. (Utilize the  “Levels of  Evidence and Grades of  Recommendations” as defined by the University of Minnesota) Clearinghouse.
  • Summarize the policy of EBM in your conclusion.

Healthcare organizations require astute handling of strategy implementation. The processes must be followed with a contingency plan in place for failed strategic objectives leading to the goal.

  • Review the stages of implementation in Chapter 13 of your textbook.
  • Review “340B Drug Pricing Program Oversight” case in your textbook (Chapter 13).
  • Provide a written analysis of the implementation phases that were used/excluded in the “340B Drug Pricing Program Oversight” case.
  • Explain what the literature (external scholarly source) suggest(s) regarding health implementation strategy regarding drug pricing.
  • Conclude with a summary of your research.
