Developmental Delays

PART 1 Can you help me get started with about 250 words for this part? Please original only.
Three-month-old infants are starting to meet some significant milestones in their development. The story below is about two moms who adore their three-month-old babies. Read the prompt below and discuss what activities the moms could do to maximize their babies’ development.

A friend of yours has a three- month- old infant. She reads to her son everyday while cuddling him. She takes him for walks to the park in his stroller and plays classical music for him while he engages in tummy time. Another friend has a baby the same age and this mom holds him most of the day so that he does not cry. They spend the day snuggling and watching television at home and she talks to her baby throughout the day. Both moms love their babies and want to encourage their development.

Explain what developmental skills are identified within these two situations. Discuss how the home environment influences a baby’s development. How could each friend encourage their baby’s development within their environment?

PART 2 I need about 250 words to work on this.
Consider the following scenario: Jessica is an 18-month-old in your classroom. She is not yet walking and can say two words: “No” and “mama.” She prefers to spend time away from other children and does not express the range of emotions typical of her age group. Her parents insist she is just “shy.” Keep in mind that teachers are not able to diagnose developmental delays, but they can suggest testing. Describe how you would handle this situation. How would you engage her parents in this process? How might her abilities impact your curriculum planning?

Watch Professor Scheub’s video "The Storyteller." Discuss something that you’ve learned about storytellers and/or oral tradition and apply it to one of the works we’ve read in this course (other than The Epic of Son-Jara) that have origins in the oral tradition, or in contrast to a work that has literary origins.
