Assignment Purpose:

In the first four weeks of this class the students have examined the difference between leadership in the 20th and 21st century. They have examined the need for leaders to develop leadership styles and presence as a way to help build followers. Also, the need to build trust for relationship building in the organization was examined. Globalization movement in the industry was the final discussion topic which examines the unique leadership challenges in the 21st century.

For this assignment, students will research several business leaders to discover their views on leadership skills needed for the 21st century. The purpose of this assignment is to have the students demonstrate their understanding of the challenges and skills needed for the 21st century leader.

Assignment Instructions:

Step 1: Review the assignment instructions carefully.

Step 2: Review the grading rubric for the assignment carefully.

Step 3: Choose a large, medium and small size companies to examine. Pick leaders from each company. Submit your choices of leaders for approval by the Professor in the discussion area – Week 2.

Step 4: In completing the paper, research prominent business leaders and their views on the leadership skills needed for the 21st century. Respond to the following items:
•Select at least one large corporation (fortune 500 company) leader, one medium sized (other public companies), and one small business (any company with one million dollar revenue) leader and compare and contrast their viewpoints.
•In separate paragraphs, describe each leaders view on 21st century leadership using primary source video or written interviews on their opinions of 21st century leadership (Refrain from providing a biography or a discussion of the businesses they lead).
•Evaluate the remarks of the leaders with respect to leadership styles, skills, and business landscape of the future.
•Compare each leader’s views and contrast them with the reading for weeks 1-4.

NOTE: In the case of personal interviews with business leaders, the questions must be cleared with the professor ahead of time and added to the paper as appendices.

Step 5: Write down or highlight key facts from the interviews. Consider making an outline to capture key points in the paper.

Step 6: Create a Word or Rich Text Format (RTF) document that is double-spaced, 12-point font. The final product will be between 4-5 pages in length excluding the title page and the reference page.

Step 7: Follow this format:
•Title page with title, your name, the course, the instructor’s name;
•Introduction paragraph (must induce a description of the leaders chosen). The introductory paragraph is the first paragraph of the paper but is typically written after writing the body of the paper. View this website to learn how to write an introductory paragraph: http://retiredlecturers.com/faculty/donelan/intro.html;
•Body part addressing the items from step # 4.
•Summary paragraph. A summary paragraph restates the main idea(s) of the paper. Make sure to leave a reader with a sense that the paper is complete. The summary paragraph is the last paragraph of a paper.

Step 8: In writing a formal paper it should be done in the third person. What this means is that there are no words such as “I, me, my, we, or us” (first person writing), nor is there use of “you or your” (second person writing). If uncertain how to write in the third person, view this link: http://www.quickanddirtytips.com/education/grammar/first-second-and-third-person

Step 9: In writing this assignment, students are asked to support the reasoning using in-text citations and a reference list. A reference within a reference list cannot exist without an associated in-text citation and vice versa. View the sample APA paper under Week 1 content.

Step 10: In writing this assignment, students are expected to paraphrase and not use direct quotes. Learn to paraphrase by reviewing this link: http://retiredlecturers.com Using the grading rubric as a comparison, read through the paper to ensure all required elements are presented.

Step 12: Proofread the paper for spelling and grammatical issues, and third person writing.
•Use the spell and grammar check in Word as a first measure;
•Have someone who has excellent English skills to proof the paper;
•Consider submitting the paper to the Effective Writing Center (EWC). The EWC will provide 4-6 areas that may need improvement.

Step 13: Submit the paper in the Assignment Folder.

The paper should be at least 6 pages(3,000 words) with the diagram and OSI model – everything explained thoroughly.

The final project for AIT 620 Business Data Communications was developed to assure the course objectives have been achieved by all students in the course.

Students will explain, in detail, how data is transferred to and from an Internet-enable device at their home to towson.edu. The project requires each student to detail protocols, media, optimization schemes, software, and hardware on both the home device and towson.edu that produce a smooth exchange of information.

For your project, you should create the graphic (TCP IP Example) using the OSI Reference Model. The diagram should identify the protocol used at each layer of the OSI model on both the transmitting (you) and receiving end (www.towson.edu). You should create a separate diagram to illustrate each “node” (appliance/router/satelite/microwave/switch) during the request. This second diagram should illustrate what physical items (nodes) were instrumental in assisting your request. Please use the results of tracert/traceroute to support the nodes in your diagram. You will most likely need to assume and make educated guesses to determine what nodes were utilized.

For this project, you must consider all of the following.

A diagram of the OSI model and the utilized protocols to handle the request from your internet-enabled device to towson.edu

Include all of the communications protocols used in the process
A diagram of the nodes used to coordinating your request to the destination (www.towson.edu)

Explain the various communications signals (digital/analog) and media (guided/unguided) used in the process in your writeup

List the multiplexing and modulation techniques

Realize that natively, some media/signals utilize multiplexing/modulation
This should be included in your write-up – Example: Ethernet and WiFi perform….????… type of multiplexing/modulation

List all of the hardware/software used to perform the task which should support your node diagram

The following commands may be helpful: ping, nslookup, whois, tracecrt/traceroute

Use tracert or traceroute to determine the most likely path to towson.edu
If using the iPhone consider the Ping – Manage Engine [https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/manageengine-ping-tool/id460362949?mt=8]

Identify two nodes in the explained process for your scenario, outline an improvement implemented in each and the impact to the communication. (5 its)

The submission must be at least 6 pages double-space, at least 3000 words, and include all of the above information and the following:
Network Diagram using Visio

OSI model applied to the protocols used in the processing of information transmission

Every page under 6 will be a 10 point deduction up to 15 points – Max 2.5 pages of visuals

There is a 3000 word minimum so explain all diagrams, lists, and nodes thoroughly- (2500 – 2999 words [-5], 2000-2499 words [-10], <2000 words [-15]

NOTES FROM MY PROFESSOR:

Here is the topic for the term paper:

What Would a Satisfactory Moral Theory Be Like? – Chapter 13 in the textbook

Papers should be argumentative. Carefully study the chapter and summarize it in your own words. Your essays should be clear and concise. If you are unsure how to start writing, you can begin with a brief description of the chapter and explain Rachel’s answer to this question. The body of your paper should then develop an argument that supports your view. You are welcome to agree or disagree with the author’s position…just be sure to either support or criticize that position with reasons and an argument. Sum up the ideas presented in the paper in a clear conclusion.

College-level writing requires skill and should represent a high level of critical thinking. Do not write a ‘one-sitting, informal, stream-consciousness type’ paper (it shouldn’t read like a casual email to a friend). Make sure your ideas are clear and well-supported. Ask yourself if you are making any unwarranted assumptions.

You are welcome to use sources outside of the textbook to inform or enhance your writing, but a minimum number of references is not required. Just be sure to avoid any form of plagiarism and be sure to note your sources. Also, feel free to speak in the first person. You should be expressing your opinions on these matters, but be sure to back them up with good reasons/arguments when you do. Anyone can offer up a list of opinions or how they ‘feel’ about something, so please avoid doing that! And of course, if you have any questions along the way, just ask. =

The research paper for your term project is due this week. Your term project research paper may address any topic covered in this course that is of interest to you as long as you include the following.

Frame your topic as a business problem/challenge
Discuss how marketing research is used to identify and exploit business opportunities
Examine the role of ethics incorporating concepts from the field of marketing and psychology
Discuss how combining marketing and psychology perspectives/methods would contribute to the resolution of the problem/challenge
Justify the importance of the problem/challenge in a social or global context
Include a limited quantitative discussion and analysis of the business problem/challenge (be sure to incorporate accurate calculations, estimates, risk analyses or quantitative evaluations of the problem/challenge)
Appraise the sources of information utilized in the assignment.

Course material:
McDaniel, C., & Gates, R. (2016). Marketing Research Essentials, 9th Edition (9th ed.). John Wiley & Sons. Retrieved November 12, 2016.

Find a published white tailed deer management plan online.

Then, prepare a 10 page analysis paper (text must be 10 pages, cover sheet and Lit Cited sections do not count), that 1) summarizes the management plan, 2) provides a critique or review of the plan, and 3) outlines your recommendations and student learning points for this assignment.

This analysis of the plan REQUIRES that you support your recommendations and conclusions about the feasibility of the actions presented in the plan with published literature. At least 5 published journal articles (not web resources) must be used to demonstrate that you have a scientific foundation for your conclusions.

Some questions to think about as you write your student learning point: What do you think of the management approach? What have you learned about wildlife management this semester? Be sure to use proper APA format and citation style.

Tell me something interesting and enlightening that you learned!

Suggested Outline:
I. Introduction
II. Description of the Management Plan, species and habitats covered, etc.

For the proposal, I was thinking to establish some program to implement gardens to teach organic farming in El Camino Real high school (Woodland Hills, CA) Specifically, for students grades 10-12th. Informing knowledge of organic farming would promote consumption of vegetables and fruits for adolescents.

Other topics can also be used for the proposal if there are better, concrete topics to write about. Keep in mind that it has to relate to Food inc. If no topic is found, this topic can be used for this proposal.
