THis only has to be about 2 paragraphs in a Microsoft Word document. This weeks discussion for my Organizational Research class is:

1.What do you think about small sample sizes?

2.What are the advantages? and Disadvantages?

3.What about Qualitative vs Quantitative designs?

The teachers provided us with this Abstract: You can apply comments with what she provided us, and you can also discuss the 3 question on ones own. Thank you so much for your help and time.

This work employs a phenomenological approach to investigate how people experience the radical transformation of their work lives caused by reengineering (BPR) processes. The common essences of the experiences of three co-researchers are synthesized into a composite textural-structural description of the reengineering phenomenon. The analysis of the rich, multidimensional information offered by participants reveals that reengineering projects elicit complex experiences involving a multitude of horizons. In particular, the analysis suggests that, by taking the discourse of efficiency to extremes, reengineering ends up by unveiling the conflicts inherent in the arrangements that generally characterize workplace. This proposition goes beyond the traditional belief that the basic reason for resistance in BPR projects is the fear of layoffs or the modification of power arrangements. Indeed, such factors seem to be part of the problem. It is also necessary to understand the imp! ortant role of the crisis that reengineering may generate in individuals’ ongoing process of sense making.

he United States criminal justice system has a court system that is modulated in different parts. The Supreme Court is the highest authoritative court in the United States, and for cases to arrive at this court, they must pass through a variety of courts and have a legitimate consequence toward the nation. You also have state, appellate, and local courts that serve jurisdictions where criminal cases must be trialed and sentenced for fair due process of every citizen that is a suspect. It is vital to understand that certain crimes like fraud can be tried not only in the criminal sections of the criminal justice system but also in the civil, where another set of courts provide judgments over cases that do not have to be criminal but of assets. Please answer the following questions. As you answer each question you must provide support or evidence that will enhance and empirically prove your answers. Academic criminal justice articles or real life criminal justice findings that are not found in journals or other academic sources must be used in supporting your answers. Please use APA style for all cited sources including your resource page. What is the dual court system? Why do we have a dual court system in America? Could the drive toward court unification eventually lead to a monolithic court system? Would such a system be effective? Judges have specific philosophical rationales and sentencing guidelines when providing a judgment over presented facts. If you were a judge, what would be your sentencing goals and philosophical rationales? Why? Can you envision any circumstances that might make your guidelines or sentencing goals change? Why? Provide an example of a situation that might be extremely difficult to judge that could put you as a judge in a situation to change your sentencing goals or philosophical rationales.

. Explain Kohlberg s theory of moral development. What did Carol Gilligan find and why is it a serious problem for the validity of the theory? How do we measure moral development and what are the problems with measurements? Can moral development programs reduce criminality? Discuss the evidence.
2. Define justice. Describe the elements and types of justice for a complete answer. Explain how retributivists and utilitarians justify punsihment. How do they each utilize proportionally in deciding the appropriate amount of punishment? Explain.
3. Describe and define due process. Explain its relation to procedural justice and substantive justice. Discuss the exceptions to the exclusionary rule.
4. What are the two basic justifications for law? Give examples and arguments for each (as well as opposing arguments). What are Feinberg s justifications for law?
5. Describe discretion in law enforcement. Explain how discretion is related to the emergence of ethical issues. In your answer you should utilize the concepts of crime/fighter or public servant and also provide examples of the types of ethical issues that may arise.
6. Discuss the elements of the formal police code and contrast them with the values of the police subculture.

Your next-door neighbor recently began a new job as assistant controller for X Corporation. As her first assignment, she prepared a performance report for January. She was scheduled to present the report to managemnt the next morning, so she brought it home to review. The report was torn up by your dog and you can only read the following data:
X CORPORATION
Direct Direct Variable Fixed
Material Labor Overhead Overhead

standard allowed cost
given actual output……..?……………?……………………….
(? kilograms (2 hours at
$12 per hour) $14 an hour)

Flexible overhead budget………………………………?…..$40,000

Acutal Cost………………..$189,000……….?……….?………?..
(14,000 kilos (8,800 hours
at $13.50 per at?per hour)
kilo)
Direct-material price variance….?
Direct-material quantity variance.$6,000 U
Direct-labor rate variance…………………..$8,800 U
Direct-labor efficiency variance……………..2,800 F
Variable-overhead spending variance……………………$2,640U…….
variable-overhead efficiency variance…………………. 1,200 F……
Fixed-overhead budget variance…………………………………$3250
Fixed-overhead volume variance…………………………………….?

In addition to the fragementary data still legible on the performance report, your neighbor happended to remember the following facts.
-planned porduction of X’s sole product was 500 units more than actual production
-all of the direct material purchased in January was used in production
-There were no beginning or ending inventories
-Variable and fixed overhead are applied on the basis of direct-labor hours. The fixed overhead rate is $4.00 per hour

Reconstruct the following facts:
1.planned production (in units)
2.Actual production (in units)
3.Actual fixed overhead
4.Total standard allowed direct-labor hours
5.actual direc-labor rate
6.standard varable-overhead rate
7.actual variable-overhead rate
8.tandard direct-material quantity per unit
9.direct-material price variance
10.applied fixed overhead
11.fixed-overhead volume variance

Polly purchased a Ford Pinto from Fred s Ford in Farmersville, Florida. It was her first car. She was proud of her purchase and drove it to work and on weekend trips. One Saturday, Polly packed up her Pinto and headed to a state park in Pensacola. As she was driving on Alligator Alley, traffic began to back up. Rodney Roadrage was also on the road, and being an aggressive driver was speeding well above the speed limit. As he talked on his cell phone, Rodney took his eyes off the road and ran into Polly s Pinto. The collision ruptured the gas tank located in the rear of Polly s Pinto. The gas tank exploded and Polly and Rodney Roadrage were seriously injured as a result of the explosion. Polly suffered cuts and abrasions from the broken glass and severe burns from the explosion. Polly was in the hospital for three weeks. Polly comes to your office. She wishes to recover damages for the injuries she sustained. As her attorney what course of action would you recommend to Polly? In discussing your answer please discuss the tort theories of product liability. Which one would you choose and why? Discuss your choice in detail. Please define and discuss the defenses that may be applicable in this product liability case. Your answer must be between two and four pages in length, double spaced, with 12 point Times New Roman font.

Background:
The Denver facility produces a wide variety of liquid chemicals.
Raw materials arrive at the Denver facility by railroad tank car.
Most shipments made in single or multiple compartment semi-trailer tankers.

Scenario:
Problems with delivered product quality
roduction systems appear to be out of control at times
Too many (non-Carbide) vehicles driving through plant.
Appears that drivers are not fully aware or observant of proper safety measures
Neighborhood residents and police complaining of trucks blocking the streets in
front of the plant.
Road blockages are normally short lived but consistently occur in the morning and late afternoons.
Automotive customers require that laboratory testing report on each SKU accompany each shipment. Denver facility is slow in producing lab reports.
Noncompliant trucks leaving Denver facility with lab reports stating that the products are non-compliant.
Plant transportation operations group (dispatching and scheduling) does not know when trucks will arrive at the gate.
20% of trucks arrive with no advance notice and with no order on file, but with purchase order in hand.
Denver periodically runs out of products without warning.
Denver facility has requested funds for new truck scales, but the need was not justified on a cost/benefit basis.

Problem:

Ajax Fuels, Inc., is developing a new additive for airplane fuels. The additive is a mixture of three ingredients: A, B, and C.

For proper performance, the total amount of additive (amount of A + amount of B + amount of C) must be at least 10 ounces per gallon of fuel. However, because of safety reason, the amount of additive must not exceed 15 ounces per gallon of fuel. The mix or blend of the three ingredients is critical. At least 1 ounce of ingredient A must be used for every ounce of ingredient B, and the amount of ingredient C must be greater than or equal to one half the amount of ingredient A.

If the costs per ounce for ingredients A, B, and C are $ 0.10, $0.03 and $ 0.09, respectively, find the minimum-cost mixture of A, B, and C for each gallon of airplane fuel.

Formulate the problem and solve it on a computer either by using the Microsoft’s Excel. You need to submit the formulation as well as the computer output.

The Fast Shop Market has a single checkout counter and one employee to serve customers. An average of 24 customers arrives each hour with a Poisson distribution (and therefore, exponentially distributed interarrival times). Customer checkout times are exponentially distributed with a mean of 2 minutes. Customers are checked out according to their order line.

a) Calculate the average length of the checkout line and the average time (minutes) that customers spend waiting in line prior to checkout.

b) The owner of Fast Shop is considering adding a “bagger” to speed up the checkout process. Experiments show that 40 customers can be served per hour with a bagger (exponentially distributed). Recalculate the average length of the checkout line and the average time (minutes) that customers spend waiting in queue for service.

c) The bagger will cost the store employee $300 per week. The national office has done research that indicates that for each additional minute the average customer waits in line costs a Fast Shop store $150 per week in lost sales. Is the bagger worth her/his wages?

d) Suppose that Fast Shop finds that in addition to reducing mean processing times, the use of a bagger also reduces the standard deviation of checkout times by 50%. By what percent will customer in-line waiting times be reduced?

For a business organization to sustain its operations over an extended period of time, it is necessary to maintain proper management over its cash flow. For each of the following scenarios, describe in detail the practices you would recommend: Scenario 1: Over the past five years, your organization has experienced increasingly negative cash flow, requiring the business to take out a line of credit through a local bank to supplement cash shortfalls. Describe, in detail, the practices you would recommend to improve cash flow. Consider credit policies, collections, product pricing, and accounting processes, for example. Be sure to consider options for operating, financing, and investing activities, in your answer. Scenario 2: Over the past three years, your business organization has experienced positive cash flow, in excess of the expectations of company management. Describe, in detail, your recommendations for bringing cash flow in line with management s expectations. Be sure to consider options for operating, financing, and investing activities, in your answer.

The operating model of an organization is more important as the organization grows larger and diversifies into multiple businesses. An example may be a healthcare organization that consists of multiple hospitals and clinics. The two primary concepts to think about when evaluating the operating model of this business are standardization and integration. An organization might allow the hospitals and clinics to run autonomously, in terms of deciding what technology they will use, or how they will purchase supplies, so that they basically function as independent businesses that just happen to have a common owner. This organization would have low standardization and integration. Another organization might integrate all of the records of the different hospitals and clinics into a single Electronic Medical Record. They may manage the the human resource, payroll, purchasing, and inventory activities of all of the hospitals and clinics in the same Enterprise Resource Planning system. If the organization documents all of the hospitals and clinics health care activities using these kinds of integrated technology, then they would be considered to be high on the integration and standardization scale. A chart on page 29 of the text that demonstrates these concepts and evaluates the particular operating model that is the result of how these kinds of activities are shared or are independent between components of the business. After considering the existing structure of your project organization, identify an operating model for your organization. Write a short paper in which you do the following: Describe the chosen operating model in terms of business process integration. Describe the chosen operating model in terms of business process standardization. Compare the selected organization to the sample organizations using the chosen operating model in terms of business process integration. Compare the selected organization to the sample organizations using the chosen operating model in terms of business process standardization. Describe the chosen operating model in terms of the financial benefits available to the organization as a result of the selection. Explain your rationale for the selected operating model. Follow APA style and formatting guidelines for references and citations, and create a document that is clearly written and free of grammatical errors
