This work employs a phenomenological approach to investigate how people experience the radical transformation of their work lives caused by reengineering (BPR) processes. The common essences of the experiences of three co-researchers are synthesized into a composite textural-structural description of the reengineering phenomenon. The analysis of the rich, multidimensional information offered by participants reveals that reengineering projects elicit complex experiences involving a multitude of horizons. In particular, the analysis suggests that, by taking the discourse of efficiency to extremes, reengineering ends up by unveiling the conflicts inherent in the arrangements that generally characterize workplace. This proposition goes beyond the traditional belief that the basic reason for resistance in BPR projects is the fear of layoffs or the modification of power arrangements. Indeed, such factors seem to be part of the problem. It is also necessary to understand the imp! ortant role of the crisis that reengineering may generate in individuals’ ongoing process of sense making.

he United States criminal justice system has a court system that is modulated in different parts. The Supreme Court is the highest authoritative court in the United States, and for cases to arrive at this court, they must pass through a variety of courts and have a legitimate consequence toward the nation. You also have state, appellate, and local courts that serve jurisdictions where criminal cases must be trialed and sentenced for fair due process of every citizen that is a suspect. It is vital to understand that certain crimes like fraud can be tried not only in the criminal sections of the criminal justice system but also in the civil, where another set of courts provide judgments over cases that do not have to be criminal but of assets. Ajax Fuels, Inc., is developing a new additive for airplane fuels. The additive is a mixture of three ingredients: A, B, and C.

For proper performance, the total amount of additive (amount of A + amount of B + amount of C) must be at least 10 ounces per gallon of fuel. However, because of safety reason, the amount of additive must not exceed 15 ounces per gallon of fuel. The mix or blend of the three ingredients is critical. At least 1 ounce of ingredient A must be used for every ounce of ingredient B, and the amount of ingredient C must be greater than or equal to one half the amount of ingredient A.

If the costs per ounce for ingredients A, B, and C are $ 0.10, $0.03 and $ 0.09, respectively, find the minimum-cost mixture of A, B, and C for each gallon of airplane fuel.

The operating model of an organization is more important as the organization grows larger and diversifies into multiple businesses. An example may be a healthcare organization that consists of multiple hospitals and clinics. The two primary concepts to think about when evaluating the operating model of this business are standardization and integration. An organization might allow the hospitals and clinics to run autonomously, in terms of deciding what technology they will use, or how they will purchase supplies, so that they basically function as independent businesses that just happen to have a common owner. This organization would have low standardization and integration. Another organization might integrate all of the records of the different hospitals and clinics into a single Electronic Medical Record. They may manage the the human resource, payroll, purchasing, and inventory activities of all of the hospitals and clinics in the same Enterprise Resource Planning system.
