Create Project Charter

Project Guidelines

For this Course Project, you may choose a project that is of interest to you, or you may choose one to assist you in your senior project. When selecting a project, avoid picking one that is either too big or too small. For example, do not decide to build a new stadium for your local sports team (too big) or to plant your summer garden (too small). Projects may vary from a few hundred thousand dollars to a few million dollars. Projects should last somewhere between six months and two years. Be sure your selection is an actual project and not routine work. Pick a project you have some experience with. Do not pick a topic such as a construction project unless you understand construction well.

I suggest you negotiate with your instructor this week until the two of you agree on a reasonable project for this Course Project. Do not begin work on a project charter until the instructor has approved your project idea. Good luck and have fun!

Obtain one or two stalks of celery.  Use a sharp knife and slice cleanly across the bottom of the celery stalk. Repeat the process at least once on another stalk. Place the cut stalks into a glass. Add water and red food coloring solution to the glass, at least one inch deep of solution. Place the glass and stalks in a sunny spot, and check back periodically.

Once the red color has risen at least half-way up the stalk, place one of these stalks on a plate or cutting board and slice as thin a slice as you can across the stalk base.  Place this small slice on a clean plate and observe the slide with a magnifying glass. Do you see any cells? Make a sketch below of what you see.

Label the oldest and the youngest xylem in the picture of a woody stem cross section of the woody dicot Tilia shown in the drop and drag activity. The inner rings are the oldest of the sample with the outer rings are the youngest. The oldest rings of xylem are generally filled with resins and metabolic wastes and are consequently no longer important in transport within the plant. This heartwood is often the most aromatic and beautiful wood of a tree.

ROOTS: Examine the photograph of a prepared slide of the root cross section. Notice that the section is circular in outline since it was cut across the root.  The vascular tissue of the root is concentrated in a single vascular bundle or stele in the center of the root.

Scenario You and your partner Steve have been on the force for some time now in fact it’s because of Steve you’re even on the force because he helped you study and ace some tough classes and test while in the academy. One day the two of you are assigned the night shift together it is there that the two of you while in the process of reminiscing about olden days and cop stories .Steve confines in you that he has a serious lack of sleep due to dealing with his son whose sick and as a result has had little to no sleep and wants to know if you can cover the calls on the radio while he take a 10 – 15 time nap. You in turn due so and use this time to take care of some pending paperwork. As the night sure passes you get a call of a disturbance .You wake up Steve to alert him who jumps up out his sleep to the call and as he gets ready to pull off forgets the amount of space behind him and hits a yellow pole causing minor damage however this is Steve’s eight accident and he has already been warned.
