What differences were there in organizations a century ago, compared to today’s organizations? What are the current trends in formal organizations? o Review the characteristics in the Summing Up table on p. 121 in the text, and describe how each of the characteristics for formal organizations will need to evolve or change in Micah’s organization to become more open and flexible. For example, how will activities or relationships need to change? o Locate 3 to 5 articles or case studies in the Online Library that discuss future trends in formal organizations and predict whether these trends are likely to take place in the future. Explain your reasoning for each of the predictions. o Make an overall prediction based on your research results: how are formal organizations, such as Micah’s, likely to evolve in the future? • Format the paper according to APA style, and submit it as an attachmen

The purpose of this assignment is to apply basic terminology and processes, and expected course of care associated with the circumstances of a designated patient population by demonstrating the cyclical process of assessment, plan, intervention, and evaluation of child life services. (CLC1d; CLC1a)
To begin, choose a case study from the age group you wish to work with. Each case study includes a patient profile and questions and answers for you to consider. As you read through the case study and questions and answers, take note of key variables in the CCLS Caring Process document. Remember, the purpose of the CCLS Caring Process is to identify the Child Life service needs of your patient and his or her family, and to find solutions to those needs. Use the CCLS Caring Process document as a way to organize and identify your patient’s needs and to plan his or her Child Life care. You will submit your CCLS Caring Process document for evaluation by your instructor.
Be sure to read the course lesson (‘Lesson’ tab) on the Caring Process before starting this assignment. The Caring Process needs to include:
Assessment Data: 3 paragraphs of objective information
Decode the variables: About one paragraph for each of the different domains. Include subjective observations from the information presented.
Planning and implementation:
Planning should include at least three child life related goals. Use the SMART Goal format for each goal.
The implementation should correspond with each goal (planning). The implementation will be the specific steps taken to achieve each goal.
According to sociologist C. Wright Mills, people often believe that their private lives can only be explained in terms of their personal successes and failures. Individuals fail to see the links between their own lives and the larger society around them. The process of interpreting your individual life in the context of your community or the society in which you live is called sociological imagination.
- Choose 1 of the following social problems:
- Being unemployed and the impact of unemployment on the individual and society
- Being an alcoholic and the broader impact of alcoholism on the individual and society
- Being a drug addict and the broader impact of drug addiction on the individual and society
- Being an unmarried pregnant teenager and the impact that unmarried teen pregnancy has on the individual and society
- Being a homeless person and the broader issue of poverty in society
- Using your sociological imagination, discuss the connection between the individual experience and the social impact of the social problem that you chose.
Write a 1,050- to 1,400-word paper on diversity in the workplace and its implications for human resource development.
Address a time at your workplace you experienced or observed organizational discrimination. Include the following:
- A brief description of the event and the work environment the discrimination occurred (Omit identifying demographic information and use fictitious names as needed.)
- Federal and state legislation that supports fair workplace practices
- The responsibilities of human resource managers and their implications concerning race, culture, age, gender, sexual orientation, spiritual or religious beliefs, and disabilities
- How risk management strategies support equity within the workplace
- Why issues of diversity within the workplace are paramount for human service workers and for management of human service organizations
- How this experience or observation may influence issues of diversity within your dream organization for Week Five’s Learning Team Presentation
- How this would apply to the development and management aspects of human resources
We have two readings on immigration, ch. 9 and the chapters from Kosel.
Migration obviously happens whether we “like” it or not–if not, humans wouldn’t be spread out all over the earth. People moving around is the original migration, happening first hundreds of thousands of years ago. Only in the last few hundred years has the idea that it can and should be limited come to be. (Even in the first hundred years or so of US history, there were virtually no efforts to “control” migration in any meaningful way, until the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882).
So while people moving around is much older than the contemporary state system, it is often seen as a threat to it; one that they try to, if not stop, at least control from time to time.
Let’s kick off this discussion with a consideration of what the benefits and drawbacks of migration, especially from poor countries to rich ones, actually are. Based on the readings, what are the biggest advantages and drawbacks? Which are greater, from the perspective of overall human development, in your view?
Using the Argosy University online library resources and the Internet, research the differences in culture and nonverbal communication. Every culture has a different understanding of what is appropriate nonverbal communication. In the United States, eye contact is a sign of attention or respect. In other cultures, eye contact is seen as rude and disrespectful. In this assignment, you will compare and contrast how a different culture you interact with in your daily life may interpret nonverbal communication differently than what is “culturally acceptable” in the United States. Make sure to take into account nonverbal gestures such as appearance, tone, space, eye contact, gestures, etc.
Based on your research and your personal experience, answer the following questions:
- Explain why you picked the different culture that you are researching. How do you interact with that culture on a regular basis?
- Compare and contrast the different cultures. Describe the similarities and differences in the way they both nonverbally communicate.
- As the world becomes more global and cultures intersect, describe and analyze at least two ways you can use your findings in your daily life to help you be a more culturally competent communicator.
Write a 2-page paper in Word format (not counting title and reference pages). Apply APA standards for writing style to your work.
Society shapes life stages and individual experiences of aging. Americans place high value on a sense of individual achievement and responsibility, and so it is often difficult for us to embrace the notion that our destinies are not completely the product of our individual actions and choices. In our society it is very popular to focus on individual attitudes, the power of positive thinking, and individual responsibility. Is it really so simple? Is personal attitude all that matters? Or are there related social forces that do have an impact on whether we can find a job and how young we can possibly feel?
Based on research and personal experiences, for your initial discussion post address the following:
- To what extent do you as a human service and public service leader feel constrained by age norms and life course expectations? How aware are you and your friends of your expectations?
- Do you think that the stages of human development in the family in later life are possible to achieve only when we are old? Why or why not?
- How does our society use age? Why does chronological age make any difference whatsoever in our lives?
Support your discussion with references to the current literature in the field.
As tolerances grow for the personal possession and use of marijuana, there is a need for purposeful and well-grounded discussions on the impact the relaxation of criminal sanctions involving marijuana may have. Do laws prohibiting the growing, manufacturing, harvesting, processing, transporting, sale, distribution, possession and/or use of marijuana in any quantity reflect the socio-political values of the community; whether that community is a local town/city, a state, or the nation? Do these laws keep us safe? If prohibitions against marijuana are lifted, what’s next?
For the Final Project the student will compose a three-part position paper addressing the pros and cons of marijuana tolerance.
- Part 1- How are the initial relaxations of the laws against marijuana an indication of a growing tolerance that should be fully adopted? All current restrictions against marijuana should be rescinded.
- Part 2 – How are the initial relaxations of the laws against marijuana compromising the safety, security and “quality of life” in American communities? Prohibitions that have been modified should be re-enacted to their former restrictive level.
- Part 3 – What impact will Part 1 and Part 2 have on the current prohibitions on other controlled dangerous substances (e.g., heroin, cocaine, meth-amphetamines, etc.)?
