Guidelines for Case Assignment – Marketing Decision Making
Word count: 2500 words max, excluding bibliography and appendices (so, say, if you are somewhere between 2300 and 2500 words, the length is ideal. It doesn’t have to be precisely 2500 words or something)
• You do not need to use MeXL: You already have the output in the files.
• Please make use of references in your writing – they may be from academic sources, other media sources such as newspapers. You may also cite practical sources, such as an advertisement, or some CEO’s speech. In other words, you can cite/refer to almost anything as long as it is somehow relevant. Spice up your writing! Differentiate your product!
• You do not need to use all analysis output provided, e.g., multiple versions of the segmentation analysis is provided. Whenever you make such decisions, though, please provide insight into your thought processes (e.g., I chose this because… ? just like in the consulting company interviews).
• Analysis using MEXL has already been carried out for Segmentation, Positioning Analysis and Conjoint analysis. 1. INTRODUCTION TO THE MODULE

Health systems world-wide have challenges and opportunities in deciding how to deliver or mobilizing there sources needed in improving health outcomes. This is there suit of issues around globalization, new ideas about how public sectors should be managed, and increased patient expectations for democracy in influencing the type of care and services, how they should get and where should get the care and services. The “Understanding Health Systems Finance” module is therefore appropriate for health studies undergraduates and professionals seeking new careers or progression within the health sector. The students will be administrators, care providers, policy-makers, and programme managers seeking to understand why some of the strategies used within health systems are developed for the delivery and financing of healthcare. Depending on their work experiences and type of organizations, students are introduced to concepts that are consistent with international commitments to increasing resources for public financing of essential healthcare and services.

2. MODULE AIMS

Because all health systems have the same objective to improve the health of their citizens by guaranteeing protection against cost so fullness, the module provides students with an overview of the common tools, trends and policies used in financing healthcare and across the world.
2.1 It aims at preparing students in understand how these elements are influenced by differences in economic, political, demographic, social and epidemiological contexts of different health systems.
2.2 In addition they are prepared in analyzing to understand how health systems in different countries can learn from each other’s health financing strategies in order to improve health status of their citizens.

6. ASSESSMENT

The Module is worth 15 Credit and comprises ONE ASSESSMENT COMPONENT explained as follows:

6.1 COMPONENT (Only 1): COURSEWORK WRITTEN ASSIGNMENT

(a) Details of the Assessment Question

Critically discuss the possible options for financing the rehabilitation of drug users in order to maximize the relevant service-users’ experience with Mental health rehabilitation services.
Mental health rehabilitation services specialise in working with people whose long term and complex needs cannot be met by general adult mental health services.

Rehabilitation services:
• provide specialist assessment, treatment, interventions and support to help people to recover from their mental health problems and to (re) gain the skills and confidence to live successfully in the community

• always work in partnership with service users and carers, adopting a recovery orientation that places collaboration at the centre of all activities

• work with other agencies that support service users’ recovery and social inclusion, including supported accommodation, education and employment, advocacy and peer support services.

Method of Submission: Through Turnitin on Moodle
The assessment seek to demonstrate achievement of Learning Outcomes (1 – 6) described in the Module Specifications (section 7) included in these guides.
(b) Presentation of the assignment

6.1.1 Submitting onto Turnitin

The Assignment is submitted through Turnitin, an anti-plagiarism software used by the University. A Turnitin Drop Box will be created for this purpose on Moodle at least four weeks before the submission date. Students are encouraged to submit the Assignment before the deadline as late submission may be PENALISED or NOT MARKED. Except when Turnitin is not available due to some technical problems, there are no provisions for extending the deadlines.

FINAL PROJECT PAPER: The final project paper should address the biological study of a specific behavioral or mental phenomenon (normal or pathological) covered in the course materials. You should select a behavioral or mental phenomenon (e.g., language, schizophrenia) and then select a biological strategy (e.g., hormones, neurotransmitters, physiology, imaging). As an example, the theme of your report might be imaging approaches to the study of schizophrenia. Your paper should summarize fundamental issues, questions, and controversies and provide a general overview of the topic. It should also elaborate on your understanding of the brain processes that are revealed through imaging research in schizophrenia. To accomplish this, you will have to use research articles to illustrate relevant points. You may use any of a number of resources to find research articles that deal with your topic, including the library and the Internet.

This paper is not a “commentary” or “editorial” style paper, but rather a formal research paper using scientific references as the basis for your topic. Personal experience, while sometimes relevant, should not be included for this assignment unless these experiences are linked to course concepts and the brain. Also, you should avoid using personal pronouns such as “I” or “myself” in this type of paper. The requirement for the research articles that you select is that they must have appeared in a peer-reviewed (i.e., refereed) scientific journal. The paper will be graded on (1) content and understanding, and (2) how effectively you have communicated your ideas in writing. You will receive a separate grade for each of these elements, weighted equally. Write about any aspect of 19th or early 20th century photography, whether or not we have dealt with it explicitly in the course. However, if you are having trouble coming up with an idea, the following guidelines may be useful:

• This course is organized into weekly themes, which combine specific historical movements and events with questions or problems about the nature of photography in 19th century art and visual culture. You may wish to begin by focusing on a particular week and its texts. Think about what problems these texts pose and how you might address those problems.
• After you have a general idea of what issues you want to address, you will need to focus in on a particular topic. Your topic may be the work of a particular photographer, a certain period in a photographer’s career, an artistic movement, or a cultural phenomenon. Do not feel you must limit yourself to the work of a single artist. However, do pick a topic that is reasonable in scope. If you have questions about the scope of your topic, please come talk to me about it before the proposal pitch session.
• Remember that your paper must demonstrate original research so before you settle on a topic you will want to do some preliminary research to make sure that there has been something written on the topic it already.
• Don’t forget to look at images! This assignment is designed to build on your work with visual analysis, and photographs should be an integral part of your paper. Be sure to spend time looking at images as you research your paper so that you can incorporate visual evidence effectively into the final product.
• As always, your paper must construct a thesis. This means that while research is important and you must demonstrate an expanded understanding of your topic beyond what we have discussed in class, you must also make and defend an argument.
• Finally, remember also that writing a research paper is a long and involved process and it will be much more pleasant if you choose a topic that engages and excites you. If you have any doubts about your topic, or are having trouble coming up with a topic, come talk to me.

Research:
• Start early! You cannot write a research paper in a week. You need time to track down sources, read and digest the material, and formulate your thoughts.
• While you are free to use any of the readings assigned for this class, these readings do not count as research. Papers must use an absolute minimum of 3 substantive outside sources.
• Ideal sources will be either books with a significant textual component (not a 5 page
• curator’s introduction in an exhibition catalogue) or essays from an academic journal or anthology. Sources must be cited properly. The citation format may be MLA or Chicago but must be consistent throughout the paper.

My sport is Rugby

The second assignment will involve an evaluation of the potential nutrition requirements for a chosen sport. This will involve completion of a 1500 word essay report covering aspects of energy demands for the chosen sport, review of the literature on potential macronutrient distributions during training, and selected micronutrient demands. The report should summarise an example meal plan (2 days) providing guidelines for nutritional intake specific to the sport.

At the beginning of semester 1 you will be asked to consider two sports that you are interested in. One of these will be randomly selected by the module leader. Over the course of semester 1, whilst you learn more about macro and micronutrients, you should undertake a basic literature review of the nutritional demands for rugby, which will form the basis of your sports nutrition report. The following marking criteria will be used for this assignment:
Title page/ Introduction (5%) – adhering to the checklist for this assignment (which should be submitted as a front page when you submit to Turnitin, and respective boxes ticked), you should provide a clear title page for your report clearly identifying which sport you are reviewing. You should also provide a brief introduction to the general importance of nutrition for this sport both in terms of training and performance. Suggested word count: 100 words.

Overview of chosen sport (15%) – in this section, making reference to scientific and textbook literature, you should provide a clear insight into the energy demands of the selected sport in relation to caloric needs. The focus here should be more on training demands than specific performance ie: day to day training demands instead of single match play or competition. Suggested word count: 300 words.
Section 1: Macronutrient distribution (30%) – in this section you should provide a concise account of the macronutrient demands of your sport with reference to pertinent literature (journals, textbooks). You could provide recommendations for general nutritional intake (daily calories, carbohydrates, fats, proteins, hydration) at selected points of the annual training season for your selected sport as example. You should pay particular attention to macronutrient amounts (including units) when presenting recommendations. Suggested word count: 500 words.
Section 2: Micronutrient needs (30%) – this section should comprise a concise evaluation of the importance of 2 selected micronutrients in relation to your sport. You should provide a brief evidence-based rationale for both micronutrients in relation to the training demands of that sport. You should pay particular attention to micronutrient amounts in relation to reference nutrient intakes. Suggested word count: 500 words.
Section 3: Example meal plan (10%) – in this section you should provide an example menu plan for a 2 day period based on your findings from the previous sections. This should include key foods (with amounts) to demonstrate your understanding of nutritional needs pertinent to your selected sport. For both days, provide a simple table underneath each meal plan to demonstrate the total intake of calories, carbohydrates, fats and proteins in relation to your previous recommendations from section 1. Suggest producing this as a table – not included in word count.
Summary (5%) – in this section provide a short summary of the nutritional needs for your selected sport based on your evidence-based findings. This should focus on training demands mainly, but could make reference to performance needs as well. Suggested word count: 100 words.
References/ word count (5%) – you will be graded on both range of literature references (ie: wide variety and current references) and concise writing skills. You should provide a word count for the essay (reference list not included in word count) which should be presented before the reference list.
Your report should be word processed in font arial (size 11), 1.5 spaced, justified margins. It is imperative that personal tense is avoided throughout. All references used must be correctly sourced in the reference list at the end of your work. The maximum word limit for the report is 1500 words (with suggested word counts for each section provided above).

You may receive extra credit by reviewing an article that fits the methodological focus of this course. The grade
on this assignment, if completed, will be counted as an additional homework. (That means there would be ten
total, of which still only three are dropped, leaving seven rather than six. It does not mean an additional “lowest
grade” is dropped, or that another assignment is replaced.)
Instructions
Select an article which explores and attempts to answer a methodological question. (If you select something that
addresses an empirical or theoretical question, you will not receive the extra credit, so don’t waste your time. I
recommend that you run the article, or at least a citation and abstract, by me for approval in advance.) Typically,
this will mean that there is an independent variable which is a methodological choice, such as about something
you’ve learned, read, or studied in this course.
You will find some sociology journals, such as the American Journal of Sociology, in CSUN’s library. However,
you are strongly encouraged to consider journals such as Sociological Methodology, Studies in Qualitative
Methodology, Political Methodology, or Political Analysis, in which almost every article will fit.
Read the article with the questions below in mind. Write an annotation and/or review of at least 300 words, which
answers at least some of the questions below, and include a complete citation for the article.
