Chapter 16: Q#1: Looking further into the chapter, theoretical grounds of policy implementation, Buse et al., (2012) argue that policy implementation is the execution of a formulated policy – turning theory into practice.  When turning theory into practice, the authors stated that it was common for certain observations.  What are those observations?  Briefly identify, and provide a brief narrative for each of these observations.

Chapter 16: Q#2: The authors from this case study research regarding public policy implementation continued to state that, the bottom-up approach was developed from the criticism of the top-down approach that mainly focused on what?  Please identify this focus, and provide a brief narrative to support your answer/response.

Chapter 16 – Following the chapter reading, the authors assert that the twentieth century is considered as the century of population explosion and fossil fuels burning, environmental policies and the transition to effective use of renewable energy sources as a priority with a strategic focus on specific countries around the world.  In addition, this move has created several different projects whose main focus is to formulate policies associated with climate change and energy governance.  Many of the policies and projects identified aim to support the energy sources switching between fuels like fossils and nuclear power to renewables like solar, wind, and or water.  Specifically, the chapter provides the foundations of policy implementation, and methods as well as investigations of five policy implementation case studies through a comparative analysis.

Part 1:

Evaluate the literature relating to managing and leading cross-functional virtual project teams in three to four pages. Include issues relating to continuing interaction with multiple departments, across various reporting lines in an organization, and to external parties. In addition, focus on technology information or innovation projects that typically depend on scarce human resources that are scattered across multiple locations, cultures, and time zones.

Part 2:

Synthesize pertinent scholarly literature to improve outcomes for projects in the technology information or innovation and information arenas. Your focus should seek to improve value creation through a combination of time, cost, quality, scope, or similar factors.

Support your paper with at least eight scholarly resources. In addition to these specified resources, you can add further appropriate scholarly resources, including older articles.

Length: 6-8 pages, not including title and reference pages.

As discussed in the lecture, musicians and other artists have often engaged in social commentary in their music and respective art forms. Can music with a socially conscious message have a positive effect or a negative effect? Why? Give an example of a song that has addressed a social issue. How was it received? What role does the performer of the song play in the reception of the song’s message? Do the commercial aspects of the music business affect the role of the artist in terms of social commentary? Why or why not? Does art have the power to change minds?

Original post ( 300words)

Daniel is a 16 year old boy who is an identical twin. He and his brother Jeff are very close and do most things together. While Daniel excels at sports he believe his brother is much better at most everything. Daniel, his brother, and their two sisters live with their parents in the Midwest. Recently Daniel has been feeling more tired than usual. He thought it was because of his schedule and school work, which he is fairly good at. He gets mostly Bs, but his grades have been slipping of late. One day he fainted while getting ready for a game. His coach called his parents to let them know Daniel was taken to the Emergency Room. While there the doctor decided to admit Daniel to the hospital for observation. At the time he was running a slight fever, his breathing was shallow, and he was sweating. He was also very sleepy and his blood pressure was high. He did have some abnormal laboratory work, but his doctor was not too concerned at present. Daniel also stated that he felt achy.

You are assigned to take care of Daniel today and when you walk into his room, his mother and brother Jeff are there. Daniel appears to be sleeping. In your written assignment, respond to the following questions applying the nursing process:

Assessment: What type of objective and subjective data can you collect with what you know? How will you collect these data? What further evidence do you need?

Analysis and Identification of the Problem: What do you believe Daniel’s problem(s) are? What might be the nursing diagnoses? Use the following for identification.

Planning: Identify two goals and one nursing intervention for each, based on your nursing diagnoses.

While you will not be able to implement or evaluate, how well do you think your nursing interventions might help with Daniel’s care.

Write a paper (2,000-2,500 words) in which you apply the concepts of epidemiology and nursing research to a communicable disease. Refer to “Communicable Disease Chain,” “Chain of Infection,” and the CDC website for assistance when completing this assignment.

Epidemiology Paper Requirements

  1. Describe the chosen communicable disease, including causes, symptoms, mode of transmission, complications, treatment, and the demographic of interest (mortality, morbidity, incidence, and prevalence). Is this a reportable disease? If so, provide details about reporting time, whom to report to, etc.
  2. Describe the social determinants of health and explain how those factors contribute to the development of this disease.
  3. Discuss the epidemiologic triangle as it relates to the communicable disease you have selected. Include the host factors, agent factors (presence or absence), and environmental factors. Are there any special considerations or notifications for the community, schools, or general population?
  4. Explain the role of the community health nurse (case finding, reporting, data collection, data analysis, and follow-up) and why demographic data are necessary to the health of the community.
  5. Identify at least one national agency or organization that addresses the communicable disease chosen and describe how the organizations contribute to resolving or reducing the impact of disease.
  6. Discuss a global implication of the disease. How is this addressed in other countries or cultures? Is this disease endemic to a particular area? Provide an example.

As you have experienced through the lecture and video materials for this week, manipulation of the technology of the turntable was used as a compositional tool in creating new sounds. What are some other ways technology is, or has been, used and/or manipulated to create new art forms? Feel free to discuss other musical genres, but you don’t have to limit yourself to music; you can include other arts as well.

Be detailed in your response (200 words minimum)

Discuss the importance of the first day of a course and what instructors should model for their students.

They always say first impressions are what matter the most because they set the tone for the rest of the school year.  The first day of class can be exciting for new students because they meet their new teacher, see who is going to be in their class, and also look at what the course requirements are.  Students want to see a teacher that is excited about learning and teaching them new ideas and concepts.  They do not want to see a teacher who is late to class, unprepared, or unenthusiastic.  If a teacher comes the first day unprepared then students will come to class unprepared.  The first day sets the expectations for future classes.

What should instructors do to prepare for the first day, and what should actually occur on the first day?

Teachers should have a prepared syllabus on the first day of class that outlines class requirements, due dates, and assignments.  They should also have a plan on what they want to do for the first day whether it be introductions or a game to get to know their students.  They need to be organized, and probably should have an introduction prepared that talks about themselves and what they are hoping to get out of the class.  I don’t think the first day should have too much.  I never liked teachers that gave an assignment on the first day, so I probably won’t either.

How should instructors prepare differently for teaching on campus versus teaching online?

I think that on-line teachers might want to be prepared with a video so students have an idea of who they are talking to.  Classroom teachers get to face their students one on one, but on-line teachers do not have that option.  I also think that having a syllabus posted on-line for students to have that outlines the course is very important, although classroom teachers should have one ready to pass out. I also think on-line teachers need to stress the importance of participation because that is really all they have to go on.  Classroom teachers are able to do all kinds of assessments, but on-line teachers really have video chat or written postings.
