Chapter 16: Q#1: Looking further into the chapter, theoretical grounds of policy implementation, Buse et al., (2012) argue that policy implementation is the execution of a formulated policy – turning theory into practice.  When turning theory into practice, the authors stated that it was common for certain observations.  What are those observations?  Briefly identify, and provide a brief narrative for each of these observations. 

 

 

 

Chapter 16: Q#2: The authors from this case study research regarding public policy implementation continued to state that, the bottom-up approach was developed from the criticism of the top-down approach that mainly focused on what?  Please identify this focus, and provide a brief narrative to support your answer/response. 

 

 

 

 

 

Chapter 16 – Following the chapter reading, the authors assert that the twentieth century is considered as the century of population explosion and fossil fuels burning, environmental policies and the transition to effective use of renewable energy sources as a priority with a strategic focus on specific countries around the world.  In addition, this move has created several different projects whose main focus is to formulate policies associated with climate change and energy governance.  Many of the policies and projects identified aim to support the energy sources switching between fuels like fossils and nuclear power to renewables like solar, wind, and or water.  Specifically, the chapter provides the foundations of policy implementation, and methods as well as investigations of five policy implementation case studies through a comparative analysis. 

As discussed in the lecture, musicians and other artists have often engaged in social commentary in their music and respective art forms. Can music with a socially conscious message have a positive effect or a negative effect? Why? Give an example of a song that has addressed a social issue. How was it received? What role does the performer of the song play in the reception of the song’s message? Do the commercial aspects of the music business affect the role of the artist in terms of social commentary? Why or why not? Does art have the power to change minds?

Daniel is a 16 year old boy who is an identical twin. He and his brother Jeff are very close and do most things together. While Daniel excels at sports he believe his brother is much better at most everything. Daniel, his brother, and their two sisters live with their parents in the Midwest. Recently Daniel has been feeling more tired than usual. He thought it was because of his schedule and school work, which he is fairly good at. He gets mostly Bs, but his grades have been slipping of late. One day he fainted while getting ready for a game. His coach called his parents to let them know Daniel was taken to the Emergency Room. While there the doctor decided to admit Daniel to the hospital for observation. At the time he was running a slight fever, his breathing was shallow, and he was sweating. He was also very sleepy and his blood pressure was high. He did have some abnormal laboratory work, but his doctor was not too concerned at present. Daniel also stated that he felt achy.

 

You are assigned to take care of Daniel today and when you walk into his room, his mother and brother Jeff are there. Daniel appears to be sleeping. In your written assignment, respond to the following questions applying the nursing process:

 

Assessment: What type of objective and subjective data can you collect with what you know? How will you collect these data? What further evidence do you need?

 

Analysis and Identification of the Problem: What do you believe Daniel’s problem(s) are? What might be the nursing diagnoses? Use the following for identification.

 

Planning: Identify two goals and one nursing intervention for each, based on your nursing diagnoses.

 

While you will not be able to implement or evaluate, how well do you think your nursing interventions might help with Daniel’s care.

Epidemiology Paper Requirements

2. Describe the social determinants of health and explain how those factors contribute to the development of this disease.
3. Discuss the epidemiologic triangle as it relates to the communicable disease you have selected. Include the host factors, agent factors (presence or absence), and environmental factors. Are there any special considerations or notifications for the community, schools, or general population?
4. Explain the role of the community health nurse (case finding, reporting, data collection, data analysis, and follow-up) and why demographic data are necessary to the health of the community.
5. Identify at least one national agency or organization that addresses the communicable disease chosen and describe how the organizations contribute to resolving or reducing the impact of disease.
6. Discuss a global implication of the disease. How is this addressed in other countries or cultures? Is this disease endemic to a particular area? Provide an example.

Feel free to discuss other musical genres, but you don’t have to limit yourself to music; you can include other arts as well.
