Games, simulations, and virtual “worlds” provide learners with an opportunity to engage in an immersive and interactive environment that requires knowledge, decision making, and information management skills. Check out the demo versions of games and simulations at LavaMind

(http://www.lavamind.com/index.html) and choose one to play. In your discussion, identify the game you played and answer the following questions about the game:

  • What types of learning outcomes can be achieved through playing the game?
  • Are there particular academic disciplines where the game and/or simulation would be most effective? What about particular learning styles?
  • What support is needed by faculty to integrate the game and/or simulation in their course?
  • Did you learn anything?

The use of games, simulations, and virtual environments is still controversial, as their association with play and fun is often considered non-educational. In addition to answering the above questions, discuss how willing you would be to implement experiential learning in your course. Why or why not?

Opinions concerning the impact of technology on teaching and learning are divided. Review the Visible Knowledge Project  (https://blogs.commons.georgetown.edu/vkp/) blog to see the results of their collaborative project that explored the impact of technology on learning. Then share your opinion about the impact of technology with your classmates by addressing the following questions:

  • Does the use of technology help students achieve learning goals?
  • Does the use of technology change student engagement in learning inside and outside of class?
  • Does the use of technology change teaching behaviors and practices?
  • Does the use of technology improve teaching effectiveness and efficiency?

As the change leader for Delta  Pacific Company (DPC), you know  certain elements need to be in place by leadership for a change to be  successful. DPC wants to change the culture from the more traditional  manufacturing environment to one of a contemporary consulting   environment. Now it’s time for you to help the leaders execute a  successful  change:

  • Determine how leadership impacts the  organizational culture during this change
  • Examine elements that are critical to making this change sustainable
  • Assess the top mistakes leaders make and determine the best way to avoid those mistakes

As the change leader, it is your  responsibility to help ensure a  successful change in the shift of DPC’s  organizational culture. Part of  this includes alerting leadership to how their  own behavior impacts  change and how change can be sustainable.

Conduct academic research and create a plan to present to the CEO  and board in which you complete the following successful change  management plan:

  • Explanation of leadership behaviors that impact organizational change.
  • Description of critical factors that ensures this cultural shift will be sustainable.
  • Examination of the top mistakes leaders make during a change.
  • Explanation of your recommendations as to the best ways the leaders can avoid making those mistakes.
  • Remember that this is a proposal. Make sure to format your  paper properly for your proposal. A proposal is a persuasive document,  so make sure to use proper language and tone. Remember, you are the  change leader, and you are writing to the CEO. So use a tone in your  proposal that is specific to your audience (the CEO).

This assignment consists of two (2) sections: an infrastructure document and a revised Gantt chart or project plan. You must submit both sections as separate files for the completion of this assignment. Label each file name according to the section of the assignment it is written for. Additionally, you may create and / or assume all necessary assumptions needed for the completion of this assignment.

The infrastructure which encompasses the network solution and security considerations is a major consideration for your company. Considering that the company will be expanding from one (1) floor to three (3) floors in the very near future you, as the CIO, are responsible for the design of the infrastructure and security protocols. You have been tasked with designing a network that is stable, redundant, and scalable. In addition, speed and reliability are important considerations. Assumptions should be drawn regarding network usage in relationship to network services and resources. All the established criteria that were set at the onset should be adhered to within your plan. The network solution that is chosen should support the conceived information system and allow for scalability. The network infrastructure will support organizational operations; therefore, a pictorial view of workstations, servers, routers, bridges, gateways, and access points should be used. In addition, access paths for Internet access should be depicted. Additionally, the security of the network should be in the forefront of your design because protecting your data is a primary consideration.

Section 1: Infrastructure Document

  1. Write a four to six (4-6) page infrastructure document in which you:
    • Justify and support the relationship between infrastructure and security as it relates to this data-collection and analysis company.
    • Present the rationale for the logical and physical topographical layout of the planned network.
    • Design a logical and physical topographical layout of the current and planned network through the use of graphical tools in Microsoft Word or Visio, or an open source alternative such as Dia. Note: The graphically depicted solution is not included in the required page length.
    • Illustrate the possible placement of servers including access paths to the Internet, intrusion detection systems (IDS), and firewalls. Note: Facility limitations, workstations, databases, printers, routers, switches, bridges, and access points should be considered in the illustration.
    • Create and describe a comprehensive security policy for this data-collection and analysis company that will:

  • Protect the company infrastructure and assets by applying the principals of confidentiality, integrity, and availability (CIA). Note: CIA is a widely used benchmark for evaluation of information systems security, focusing on the three (3) core goals of confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information.
  • Address ethical aspects related to employee behavior, contractors, password usage, and access to networked resources and information.

Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:

  • This course requires use of new Strayer Writing Standards (SWS). The format is different than other Strayer University courses. Please take a moment to review the SWS documentation for details.
  • Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides; citations and references must follow SWS or school-specific format. Check with your professor for any additional instructions.
  • Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student’s name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date. The cover page and the reference page are not included in the required assignment page length.
  • Include charts or diagrams created in MS Visio or Dia as an appendix of the infrastructure document. All references to these diagrams must be included in the body of the infrastructure document.

Section 2: Revised Project Plan

Use Microsoft Project to:

  1. Update the project plan from Project Deliverable 4: Analytics, Interfaces, and Cloud Technology, with three to five (3-5) new project tasks each consisting of five to ten (5-10) sub-tasks.

The specific course learning outcomes associated with this assignment are:

  • Develop information systems-related activities to maximize the business value within and outside the organization.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of existing and emerging information technologies, the functions of IS, and its impact on the organizational operations.
  • Evaluate the issues and challenges associated with information systems integration.
  • Use technology and information resources to research issues in information systems.
  • Write clearly and concisely about strategic issues and practices in the information systems domain using proper writing mechanics and technical style conventions

Describe one internal and one external method for the dissemination of your EBP project results(the effects of inadequate nurse staffing on patient care). For example, an internal method may be the hospital board, and an external method may be a professional nursing organization. Discuss why it is important to report your results to both of these groups. How will your communication strategies change for each group?

Fundamentally, cancer is a failure of the immune system. Cancer kills because it spreads and disturbs homeostasis. For this assessment, select, research, and then describe a specific type of cancer occurring in either the digestive system or endocrine system. Note: If you choose the digestive system, you may discuss a cancer of the primary digestive system or that of an accessory organ. To select the specific type of cancer you wish to research for this assessment, you are encouraged to refer to the materials linked in the Resources.

In order to complete this assessment, you will need to find high-quality, appropriate, and credible research resources on a specific type of cancer. Resources in the Capella library are recommended because they have been selected for quality and credibility, and are peer-reviewed. If you conduct Internet research outside the library, your resources must be reliable. The “Top 100 List: Health Websites You Can Trust” article, linked in the Resources under the Internet Resources heading, will be of particular help in selecting appropriate sources.

Assessment points will be deducted for citing unreliable sources such as Wikipedia, or other sites based on user-generated content. These sites are not peer-reviewed, and, in the case of Wikipedia, anyone can add an entry or change an entry. Hence, these types of sources should not be cited in college-level research papers. However, you may find Wikipedia useful as a starting point for your Internet research, as Wikipedia entries may provide links to other resources that are reputable and reliable.

Based on your research, write a paper that addresses all of the following:

  • Identify the type of cancer of the endocrine or digestive system that you have researched. Which cancer did you choose, and what part of the body does that cancer affect?
  • What are the biological changes that occur at the level of the cell that result in this type of cancer? What are the biological changes that occur at the level of the major organ as this cancer progresses?
  • What characteristics of cancer cells distinguish them from normal cells?
  • Consider how the disease affects the body as it progresses or spreads. What are some specific aspects of homeostasis that the spreading disease could affect? What self-regulating systems are upset because of this disease?
  • Which therapies are available for treatment for this specific type of cancer? How do these therapies work biologically to treat this type of cancer?
  • What are some lifestyle choices that might aid in prevention or treatment of this type of cancer? How do you incorporate these lifestyle choices in your daily life?
  • How are the biological changes of this cancer, at the level of the cell and organ, similar to and different from changes in other types of cancer?

Formatting Requirements

  • Written communication: Written communication should be free of errors that detract from the overall message.
  • APA formatting: References and citations should be formatted according to APA (6th edition) style and formatting.
  • Font and font size: Times New Roman, 12-point.

Part 1: Post a Response

The 1970s and 1980s brought remarkable changes for the Untied States. The Cold War between the US and its allies versus the Soviet Union and its allies/clients was still the dominant international issue. China was also going to start emerging as a major world power. Nixon was dealing with Vietnam and then Watergate—one of the pivotal scandals of modern history. Reagan would bring a new national spirit, and he would tackle economic problems by deregulation and moderating taxes—and he would be dealing with a very new type of Soviet leadership.

Discuss lessons in leadership with the examples of President Nixon and President Reagan:

Choose and discuss (in a full paragraph or two) one of the following two topics related to the 1960s and 1970s, especially to the terms of Presidents Nixon and Reagan.

  1. Discuss lessons in leadership with the examples of President Nixon and President Reagan:
    • Identify a leadership example from President Nixon’s handling of the Watergate issue, and another example from Reagan’s presidency.
    • Give two lessons in leadership—one from each example. They can be positive lessons or negative lessons (good things to do; things not to do, etc). Discuss how these lessons can apply to those in business or politics or some other realm.
    • Identify the source(s) where you read about these issues.
  2. Discuss Presidents Nixon and Reagan as Cold Warriors:
    • Identify a strategy or policy from the Nixon presidency that related to the Cold War, and another from the Reagan presidency.
    • In hindsight, describe your views of each approach and how effective (or not) each approach was.
    • Identify the source(s) where you read these issues.

Discuss lessons in leadership with examples of President Nixon and President Reagan.*

NIXON.

Image is everything, however effectiveness in good leadership skills goes even farther. It is almost a reasonably good idea to never let the left hand know, what the right hand is doing, as so was President #37, Richard Nixon. I remembered him on a black and white television screen, as always being so defensive, however always advocating a policy in one form or another. He seemed to be striving to do the right thing for the American people, however he was his own worst enemy. . He was very ambitious, highly intelligent, and wanted nothing more than to prove himself a good leader. I can remember some parts of  the Vietnam War, because at that time, my parents had 5 children, I was 11 years old and my 1 and only brother which was the eldest, was 22 years old, and was in college, my parents were afraid he might have to leave college to join the military, however in 1973, Nixon withdrew the last U.S. soldiers from South Vietnam, ending the military draft that same year, to prevent the possibility of further U.S. intervention in Vietnam. One of his leadership skills had Americans concerned as well as his own political party and other politicians. One  (Example ) bad leadership quality, President Nixon, campaign advisor, Anna Chennault, at his bequest, established a back channel communication with  the South Vietnamese to prolong the Vietnam War, until Nixon was in office for the second term of his presidency. This action placed his on ambition ahead of the lives of  American servicemen, so that he could be the one to negotiate an end to the conflict. I feel that, that was not a good leadership skill position to place America in. It was a risk that caused thousands of lives to perish, and hundreds more missing in action. This is not to say that he was not an effective leader, he was just a bad role model, in this particular leadership skill, during that time, because he did accomplish many great things for the American people, that still affects our lives today.

Reagan.

Ronald Reagan # 40

Ronald Reagan was a public figure well before he was a political figure. I recall him as an impressionable actor on black and white television screens in a lot of western movies, in particular the Death Valley Days episodes, that ran weekly, of course they were reruns, but my parents liked watching western films and other serial shows. I was 19 years old when President Reagan took office, he was the oldest president to date to become president in 1981 at the age of 73. He served two terms, and he was a showmen, statesman, and a political leader for years. I believe that President Reagan had good leadership qualities, in many of foreign and domestic affairs. One (example) of good leadership skills was when President Reagan, while skillfully dealing with Congress, he obtained legislation to stimulate economic growth, curb inflation, and increased employment, and strengthened our national defense. In 1986, he also obtained an overhaul of the income tax code, which eliminated many deductions and exempt millions of people with low incomes.

* Identify  leadership examples from Nixon handling the Watergate issue, and another example from Reagan’s presidency *

President Nixon is best know for the scandal of Watergate. Watergate scandal was a scandal during and after the 1972 Presidential Election. Richard Nixon (Republican) was running against Democrat George McGovern,.The scandal brought to light wire tapes, secret papers that were stolen, Nixon was involved in a cover up, and possibly had hired the men to brake into the Watergate offices, he soon later resigned as president of the U.S. President Ronald Reagan was remembered for his great speech in Berlin in June 1987 to the country and to the Soviet Union, when he said ” Mr. Gorbachev, ” Tear down this wall”.

* Discuss how these lessons can apply to those in business or politics or some other realm.*

I can only hope that when in business and or politics the people that are placed in these positions carry themselves with dignity, fidelity, and integrity. If we can not be honorable in the profession that has been afforded to us, why would we want to risk so much. There can not be enough money and power in the world to risk ones life, or the lives of others. When we do bad things, everyone suffers, and the effects last for generations to come. America has suffered a lot, and has lost much more for democracy, and do we have to continue on the path of destruction, and risk other lives, to be right, or even a super power?
