There are 7 drug categories – Stimulants, Depressants, Hallucinogens, Inhalants, Narcotics, Steroids, Cannabis. Each category impacts brain function and behavior, has particular ways of ingestion, and creates a certain reaction within the body.   

 

For this Assignment, you compare substances within two of the seven drug categories.

 

 

 

Submit a 2- to 3-page paper that addresses the following:

 

• Choose two drug categories. For each drug category:
  • Identify the drugs that belong to that category
  • Briefly discuss the history of substance use and social response related to the drug category (e.g., how were the substances created, when did people start to use these types of substances, how or in what ways did these substance affect society).
  • Identify how the drugs are administered (e.g., inhalation, injection, orally, nasally) in this category.
  • Discuss how substances in the category impact the brain including which neurotransmitters (brain chemicals) that are affected.  
  • Explain the physical impact the substances in this category may have on the body.  
• Compare the similarities and differences between the drug categories.
• Explain any differences in treatment approaches for the two different drug categories, and why it is important to understand the different drug categories as a social worker.

 Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) provides integration of the management, sales, manufacturing, accounting, and inventory areas. The implementation of ERP systems involves changes in the core business functions to streamline the business processes. Go to SAP.com and review the SAP Portfolio of products. Select a solution that is of interest to you. Discuss how this SAP solution works within an organization and the benefit of a firm implementing such a solution. What are some of the disadvantages? Who are some of the competitors in the ERP area for SAP?  

You are working as an Operations Manager for a growing company. The company has plans to develop several new products over the next five years and is currently hiring new graduates to help with this endeavor. These graduates have either Marketing or Engineering degrees, and may not have taken any operations classes. You have been asked by the Vice President of Human Resources to develop one of the modules for their training. Be sure the training keeps your audience in mind. You may use any medium that you choose, including written, visual, audio, or a combination of media. The goal is to deliver a self-driven training.

 

Develop a module that will allow the new hire to gain an understanding of the impact of product design on operations and supply chain strategy. The module should be a length of either 700 to 1,050 words.

The National Association of Social Workers (NASW) specifies the ethics and values of the profession in their Code of Ethics. Section 6.04 of the Code of Ethics (1999) states:

 

Social workers should engage in social and political action that seeks to ensure that all people have equal access to the resources, employment, services, and opportunities they require to meet their basic human needs and to develop fully. With the requirement of social and political action among social workers, there is little political activity among clinical social workers. Why? What barriers exist that prevent social workers from fulfilling this ethical obligation?

 

What does it mean to be a macro social worker? A micro social worker? Do these differentiations have any real meaning? If not, why is this language used when referring to the social work profession?

 

In this Discussion, you will look at the obligation of social workers to engage in political action in their practice and discuss why there appear to be different perceptions of the responsibility for political action among social work professionals.
