At this stage, you have a solid understanding of the problem the company is facing and you have provided a solution for your client. Now, you want Larson Property Management to accept your project plan. Mr. Larson and Ms. Johnson like your idea and would like you to present your project plan to the executive board.

Use the feedback from your instructor on previous assignments, the textbook, and any other resources provided in the course to create a professional project plan that you will be hypothetically presenting to the Executive Board of Larson Property Management.

Please include the following elements:

  • Table of Contents
  • Executive Summary
  • Organizational Plan and Analysis
  • System Blueprint and Type
  • Recommendation for an HRIS Vendor
  • Project Management Roadmap and Cost Justification
  • Maintenance and Evaluation
  • Conclusion

Do not simply copy and paste Phases 1–5. The previous phases were considered raw data, and now you will be summarizing and finalizing your findings. Use the feedback you received from your instructor to improve your proposal. You want to apply critical thinking to describe the data you have obtained.

The Myth of Lobbyists

Description

Part I: Lobbyists have been part of the U.S. Government system since the early 1800s. Lobbyists play an important role in healthcare, as they are advocates for their interest group. In a 4-5 page paper, analyze two examples of how lobbyists affect healthcare legislation. Conclude your paper with your opinion about whether the actions of lobbyists have a positive or negative effect on healthcare legislation in the United States. Please keep in mind the position and facility you selected. Make sure to include the following:

Discuss the specific interest of the lobbyist in each example.

Discuss in detail some of the ethical issues and moral disputes for each example.

Discuss your position on whether the lobbyists’ actions are positive or negative on healthcare legislation in the United States and support your points with details.

This portion of your assignment will require you to research and examine information from various sources. Use a minimum of five credible sources for your paper, with three being an academic source from the Rasmussen College Online Library (don’t forget to include in-text citations throughout your paper with paraphrasing or quoting)

Make sure to include your APA formatted reference page.

Part II: An agenda can set the tone for a meeting. It’s an important tool to ensure meetings are staying on track and meeting all of the objectives. Create a detailed meeting agenda for a meeting you will hold with your supervisor and fellow department heads discussing your findings (Hint: Microsoft Word has many agenda templates). SkillSurfer in the online tutoring platform offers beginner, intermediate, and advanced tutorials on Microsoft Office products. Make sure to include the following in our agenda:

Explain each example

The majority of the agenda should be focused on whether the actions of lobbyists have a positive or negative effect on healthcare legislation in the United States.

Make sure to use audience specific language and tone in your agenda. Remember, your supervisor and other department heads will be in attendance. Also, make sure to follow proper agenda/business formatting guidelines and make sure document is professional in appearance.

Post a description of the national healthcare issue/stressor of escalating cost,  explain how the healthcare issue of escalating cost may impact your hospital or clinic work setting. Then, describe how your hospital or clinic work setting has responded to the healthcare issue/stressor of escalating cost, including a description of what changes may have been implemented. Be specific and provide examples.

Select two of the scenarios provided below. Analyze the facts in the scenarios and develop appropriate arguments/resolutions and recommendations. Support your responses with appropriate cases, laws and other relevant examples by using at least one scholarly source from the SUO Library in addition to your textbook for each scenario. Do not copy the scenarios into the paper. Cite your sources in APA format on a separate page. Submit the paper to the Submissions Area by the due date assigned.

Scenario I: Employment Law

Carole Smith, an Apostolic Christian, worked as sales associate at Nickels Department Store. One afternoon, during a break, Smith participated in a conversation about God, homosexuality, and same-sex marriages. The next day, an employee told the manager that Smith made inappropriate comments about gays to Casey, a Nickels employee who was gay. Over the next five weeks, Nickels investigated the incident by interviewing and obtaining statements from employees who were present during the conversation. In his statement, Casey reported that Smith pointed her finger and said that God does not accept gays, that gays should not be allowed to marry or have children, and that they will burn in hell. Three employees confirmed Smith’s statements.

Nickels terminated Smith’s employment after concluding she had engaged in serious harassment in violation of its Discrimination and Harassment Prevention Policy. This policy, of which Smith was aware, prohibits employees from engaging in conduct that could reasonably be interpreted as harassment based on an individual’s status, including sexual orientation, and provides that employees who violate the policy will receive “coaching and/or other discipline, up to and including termination.” Nickels has “zero tolerance” for harassment “regardless of whether such conduct rises to the level of unlawful discrimination or harassment” and treats serious harassment as gross misconduct and grounds for immediate termination.

Smith filed suit, alleging her termination for stating that gays should not marry and will go to hell—a belief that she maintains is an aspect of her Apostolic Christian faith—constitutes unlawful discrimination under Title VII. Is she correct?

If Smith posted the same information on her Facebook page but omitted references to the specific employee, would the outcome of her lawsuit for wrongful termination change?

Scenario II: Professional Torts

Medical malpractice is negligence committed by a physician or a pharmacist. Present an actual case of medical malpractice filed in your state court system or in the federal district court in your state. You must read the actual case and not an article about the case. You may find the case by first reading the article by researching the South University Online Library or a scholarly source on the Internet, but you will need to read and cite the actual case to receive credit.

Accordingly, respond to the following questions:

Summarize the facts of the case.

Provide your state’s law or regulation relating to malpractice by physicians or pharmacists.

Discuss the outcome of the case.

Explain whether you agree with the verdict. Why or why not?

Scenario III: Agency, Employment and Torts

Brenda Byars, on her way to a business meeting and in a hurry, stopped at a Radio Shack to pick up a new car charger for her smartphone. There was a long line at one of the checkout counters, but a cashier, Phyllis Richmond, opened another counter and began loading the cash drawer. Byars told Richmond that she was in a hurry and asked Richmond to work faster. Instead, Richmond slowed her pace. At this point, Byars hit Richmond.

It is not clear whether Byars hit Richmond intentionally or, in an attempt to retrieve the car charger, hit her inadvertently. In response, Richmond grabbed Byars by the hair and hit her repeatedly in the back of the head, while Byars screamed for help. Management personnel separated the two women and questioned them about the incident. Richmond was terminated immediately for violating the store’s no-fighting policy. Byars sued Radio Shack, alleging that the store was liable for the tort (assault and battery) committed by its employee.

Under what doctrine  might Radio Shack be held liable for the tort committed by Richmond?

What is the key factor in determining whether Radio Shack is liable under this doctrine?

How is Radio Shack’s potential liability affected by whether Richmond’s behavior constituted an intentional tort or a tort of negligence?

Suppose that when Richmond applied for the job at Radio Shack, she disclosed in her application that she had previously been convicted of felony assault and battery. Nevertheless, Radio Shack hired Richmond as a cashier. How might this fact affect Radio Shack’s liability for Richmond’s actions?

Choose one type of fire: wildland, motor vehicle, and marine. Discuss the investigation process for such as it would relate to arson.

Wildland fires are different because of the environment. There are 2 phases in which the fire spreads. The first part is, heat transfers which causes the fire to spread from low vegetation. Second part is higher vegetation which would be tree branches. As the fire increases the heats tempature and size, increases and spreads rapidly and laterally.

Fire investigators must be trained in wildfire investigation to fully understand how the process works. If the investigator has no training and is not certified as a wildland firefighter then they need to be trained.

For safety reasons two investigators are assigned to the incident. At all times they need to operate under the direction of the incident management system and stay in constant  contact with the fire suppression units at the scene.

The investigators need to become familiar with the “fireline handbook” and follow the standard firefighting orders and watch-out situations.

They are required to use their personal protective equipment (PPE) that was issued to them. This is because using the correct PPE’s can save their lives if the conditions from the fire suddenly change.

Monitor radio’s,weather and your surroundings and have strategies and tactics in place incase you have to get out of your location. Re-evaluate your escape route constantly.  Have a back up plan and watch for air drops from planes flying in the area.

Fire investigators should be using a methodical approach to wildland arson fires. Doing it this way can uncover new evidence fir analizing process. The scientific method is an organized way to process the scene. There are 7 steps to follow.

1. Recognize the need

2. Define the problem

3. Collect data

4. Analyze data

5. Develop a hypothesis

6. Test the hypothesis

7. Select the final hypothesis

#2

Arson is possibly the oldest and most iconic role of any Fire Prevention Officer.  We typically think of arson in large commercial buildings or forest fires. But, arson occurs quite commonly in motor vehicles as well.  Like all other types of fire investigation, but specifically proving arson, requires consistent practice and a series of steps.

The investigation like all others begins at the point of ignition.  Fire with a single point of ignition will travel up and out with a pattern that is visible.  It is important to note that if fires burn the entire vehicle for an excessive amount of time these patterns would be difficult or impossible to see.

The iconic car arson is a stolen vehicle dumped in a field and torched with gasoline.  While not always the case, incendiaries are used and can be identified as a burn pattern of its own. A lack or origin point and several patterns of progression from a larger area may indicate incendiaries.  It is also important to look for electronics or items of value that have been removed. It can be beneficial to cross reference these findings with the owner depending on the situation. Furthermore, it can be beneficial to check to see if the vehicle’s gas lines and/or caps were in place at the time.  Tampering of these lines may be indicative of arson.

In summary, these stand alone pieces of evidence do not land a conviction.  It is essential to have a suspect and proof of a specifics actions taken. Additionally, all other methods of ignition must be ruled out.

Do you believe a firm must have a firm grasp of the concepts of differential cost, opportunity cost and sunk cost to be effective in making business decisions? Please be sure that your first post talks about these three different types of costs.  Consider giving examples – especially if you have examples within your own employment experience.  Or – you can look for some online resources that offer you some other facets of this topic to discuss so that it isn’t just a rehash of the textbook. Don’t forget to cite any resources that you use
