Topic 7 DQ 2

Should executives receive bonuses if the organization is underperforming? The response may seem apparent, but if you think they should not, would you apply the same standard to your position (assuming you are not an executive)? That is, should you receive a bonus or pay increase only when your company is doing well, even though you do not have a direct impact on the company’s bottom line? Provide an explanation for your response. Support your response with APA cited reference(s).

The benchmark assesses the following competency:

4.2 Communicate therapeutically with patients.

The RN to BSN program meets the requirements for clinical competencies as defined by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN), using nontraditional experiences for practicing nurses. These experiences come in the form of direct and indirect care experiences in which licensed nursing students engage in learning within the context of their hospital organization, specific care discipline, and local communities.

Data Analysis Project 1

For this project each student will learn and demonstrate competency in researching economics; that is, creatively designing a research question, locating pertinent and credible data to support an answer, and presenting results in a professional and articulate manner. The skill set practiced in this project is highly valued in business and government occupations. Follow these steps to complete the project:

1. Using the data covered in the Demography and Housing slides, generate five research questions to study (e.g. “Have home prices in the U.S. increased since 2010?”, “What is the racial composition of U.S. males?”). You are to create two research questions from Demography, two from Housing, and one from either category. You are to use at least 3 different data sources (e.g. census, CDC, NAR, etc.) in the overall project.

2. Excel File: For each research question create an Excel sheet with your data set and one graph. You are to use each of the following graphs once in the overall project:

ü Bar chart (horizontal or vertical)

ü Pie chart

ü Histogram

ü Frequency table

ü Scatterplot (lined or unlined)

3. PowerPoint Presentation: For each question, create a PowerPoint slide containing one graph, up to three bullet points (optional), and hyperlinks to your data source website (make sure the links work and ). The PowerPoint should also contain an introduction slide (e.g. name, project #, and class).

4. Submission: Upload the Excel and PowerPoint file into the link provided in Blackboard by the due date (no e-mailed copies).

5. Grading: Project grade is weighted 50/50 for Excel/PowerPoint; however, both must be submitted to receive a score. Excel graphs must be derived from the data input in Excel.  The PowerPoint is graded subjectively as a presentation to your fellow classmates so cosmetics, spelling, character size, color, creativity all matter.

6. Academic Integrity: Do not copy graphs from websites nor replicate another student’s work.

Your Project Sponsor has approved your project proposal and has asked you to come up with a proposal for the execution, control, and closure for the project.

Instructions:

For this assignment, you will provide a four to six (4-6) page paper, in which you must:

  1. Provide a brief summary of your chosen project.
  2. Identify and discuss your project’s greatest challenges (at least three) and provide a recommendation for addressing each of the challenges.
  3. Examine how you manage your project performance via Earned Value Management (EVM). Identify at least three key EVM metrics you will use for your project.

Put together a Powerpoint presentation about a new product you have invented (any new product you prefer) and submit it to this link.

Include slides on all of the 4 P’s. Product, Place/Distribution, Promotion and Price
Include a slide on your target market.
Include a slide on your main competitors.

Include what company you would have produce your product and what is the mission statement of that company.

Include a slide citing your sources in MLA format.  You will be graded on the extent and quality of the research you did for this presentation.  The Marketing Plan Outline and Marketing Plan Example provided in the first week of this course will assist you with this assignment.

The more organized detail you provide in your slide presentation the better chance your professor will have to evaluate your understanding of the marketing ideas and concepts in the text.

Demand function specifies other factors that management will often consider, including the design and packaging of products, the amount and distribution of the firm’s advertising budget, the size of the sales force, promotional expenditures, the time period of adjustment for any price changes, and taxes or subsidies. For this discussion forum, consider your favorite consumer product (e.g. cell phone, car, cereal, restaurant, hair gel, etc.) and describe the variables that might be part of the demand function (i.e. substitute good, complementary good, income level, advertisement, consumer preference, etc.) for this product. How would you describe the elasticity of demand for this product – is it highly or somewhat elastic or inelastic? Why?

 CODY POST

My name is Cody Ater and I am from a small farming village in Ohio. I am finishing my Bachelor’s in Computer Science currently. I live with two cats, a dog, multiple fish in our aquarium, and my fiance Brandon. I recently began an internship with a company in the city to gain some experience and knowledge (and hopefully networking!) to future my career opportunities.

The topic I read about was

“Role of earthquake motions in triggering a ‘surprise’ tsunami”

Summary: In September, 2018 tsunami that struck Sulawesi, Indonesia that left scientists scrambling to understand what caused the incident. The initial shock and confusion was caused by the fact that the earthquake that took place before the tsunami “primarily offset the ground horizontally” (Gauss Centre for Supercomputing, 2019), which was contradictory to the precedent of tsunamis being caused by vertical displacement instead. A new implementation of supercomputing models has shed more light on what caused this tsunami to take place in such a short period of time, as well as information about the factors that can lead to them.

Questions:
How can this new information be used to improve the way that similarly situated fault lines are alerted and prepared for the speed of an upcoming earthquake, or the potential for a tsunami following close after?

With the successful application of this new supercomputer model for earthquakes and tsunamis, how can this application be altered and applied to other fault line setups around the world?

JESSIE POST

My name is Jessie. I have a beautiful 2 year old daughter who is the one motivating me to do better and get my degree. I currently live in South Carolina in a small town right outside of Charlotte, NC. (We are far enough inland that I should not be affected by the hurricane so no worries there.) I just recently moved here from Tennessee to get a better job in a bigger city. My goals for taking this course are to learn to let curiosity take over and want to learn more about everything.

Questions about the eruptions:

Is there any way we can accurately monitor the fault lines for us to know about eruptions and earthquakes in advanced?

What are we to expect with the eruption happening under the ice? Is the ice going to stop the lava and the lava be a river under the ice, or is the lava going to erupt straight up through the ice?

School readiness impaired in preschoolers with ADHD symptoms

https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2019/07/190722085826.htm

Just because a child has reached a certain age does not mean that he/she is ready for school. Toddlers already have ADHD like symptoms (that is just toddler behavior), but not all of them grow out of this phase and are ready to transition into a classroom setting at such a young age.

Is it something that is happening at home that does not have him/her ready for a classroom situation?

Does his/her parents childhood correlate with his/hers? It behavior genetic or learned?
