Professional Development

Your textbook discusses multiple stages of development, starting with formal educational training, then continuing education, and on through practices of supervision and consultation. The stages of development could be compared to those of an apprentice, journeyman, and a master of a trade.

In your initial post to this discussion, identify at least two practices an ethically focused practitioner would engage in for each of these stages of practice. What are some potential challenges a practitioner might encounter at each stage of his or her professional journey? Cite sources from at least one of the professional codes of ethics and from the course text to support your post.

Evaluation and Accountability

Over the past several years, there has been an increasing focus on evidence-based practice and measurable outcomes for clinical interventions. Discuss why these concepts are important to clinical practice.

• What are some of the ethical challenges that exist when there are no clearly defined outcomes?
• How have managed care practices impacted requirements for measurable outcomes? 
• How have managed care practices limited clinical interventions?

Thoroughly discuss the pro’s and Con’s of internal and external recruiting. You should tell (1) why it is important, (2) how it has impacted the workforce, and (3) if that topic has impacted you. 

Need a PowerPoint presentation on the above topic consisting of 40 slides not including the cover slide and the reference slide. Every slide needs to include 100 words in the Notes section.   

You need to use in-text citations. Your in-text citation and your reference (on your reference slide) must be in APA format. 

You are a case manager for a juvenile on probation who has a history of marijuana use, gang involvement, and fighting in school. His teachers have complained that he is sometimes disruptive and disrespectful in class. He is a junior in high school and is also a standout player on the school’s football and basketball teams. Recently, he was charged with selling marijuana on school property. As a case manager for a non-governmental agency (NGO), you have been assigned this case.

Respond to the following in your discussion post:

• Who are the other professionals who might be involved in this client’s treatment team?
• What goals or motivations might each of these professionals have that could pose a challenge to you?
• Identify at least 1 way that you would attempt to overcome each challenge.

In the article from Irawanto (Othman & Sumardi, 2012) the impact of social and political changes in two state owned enterprises in Indonesia are studied. The research seeks to understand how these changes impact the life of both the organization and the employees. 

 

Explain how employees’ participation in the decision-making process of the organization impacts their performance as well as the organization’s performance itself. 

 

Mention two differences that can be seen among employees and the organization after employees’ participation in the decision-making process. 

 

Finally, analyze how culture impacts the employees’ participation in the decision-making process and offer two examples between Indonesia and other countries.

Johnson viewed health as efficient and effective functioning of the system, and as behavioral system balance and stability. Behavioral system balance and stability are demonstrated by observed behavior that is purposeful, orderly, and predictable. Consider a clinical-practice situation that demonstrates Johnson’s model of health. How can the nurse support this theory to return the patient to balance and stability?

In this complex and challenging field, it is easy to take on a workload that is too heavy to allow you to tend to all of your clients’ various needs. This can become daunting for professionals and often results in burnout. By making time for self-care, you can help avoid burnout and ensure resilience. Self-care is an essential responsibility and an important part of your professional life. For this Discussion, as you reflect on self-care strategies, consider how you might use them in your role as a human services professional.
