PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY

The purpose of this project is for you to prepare a summary report on the issue of productivity, the challenges associated with it, and what remedies need to be undertaken to resolve these issues. For this paper, you should choose one country or region in order to address the topic.
one of the key economic challenges is productivity. This may be defined as output per manhour, per worker, or even what is known as factor productivity (the output relative to the combined effect of capital and labour). Productivity may be affected by many factors, including capital investment, incentives, skills, and the aging workforce and demographic shifts.

The aim of the report is to highlight the issue of productivity in Saudi Arabia. In doing so, there are three aims of the report:

– To discuss the trend in productivity
– To highlight the factors that have contributed to changes to productivity
– To indicate how the trends in productivity have impacted economic performance and competitiveness
– To suggest how you feel the nation or region should best address the issue

The paper you prepare MUST be structured in the following manner, divided in the following 6 sections with appropriate headings:

-Introductory paragraph stating the aim of the paper, how it will be structures, and the conclusion reached.
Summarise the trend in productivity. (15%)
Discuss what factors have contributed to the trend (15%)
-Identify how this trend has impacted economic performance, but most importantly, international competitive position. (30%)
-Make suggestions on what the nation or region should do to address the productivity challenge (15%)
-Conclusion, restating what you have achieved in the paper and why you believe your conclusion is reasonable (5%)

The remaining 20% of the grade will reflect grammar, writing style, sentence structure and clarity. It will also reflect professionalism in its appearance and presentation. This should be prepared as if it is being submitted to a senior executive committee.

Supporting tables, charts, and your references must be included in an appendix, NOT IN THE MAIN BODY OF THE REPORT.

You must include supporting data and facts to back up your arguments. As an example, indicators on changing competitiveness may be supported by indexes of competitive ranking, changing trade patterns and balance of payments. You are expected to know what information is relevant.

You are expected to conduct further research on the issues mentioned in this article. I will be looking for at least 10 article references that must be included in your report.

The report must be 5 pages – no less, 11 font, 1½ spaced. The length does not include cover page or appendixes and references.

Looking at your department and community – is there a vision for the future? Is this vision consistent with the community’s vision for itself? Is the public aware of the vision? Do you agree with that vision?

This is a good conversation to have with your fire department. When I get to work with my local fire department I always talk to them about their goal for the community. The fire departments goal every year is to have more community outreach. This is done by sending out notices with flyers about upcoming fire training. The training is free of course and everyone is welcome to attend no matter what age. The fire department goal is to teach about fire safety to everyone. The fire engines are on display and there are stationed set  up to act out real fire seniors. The fires are controlled and the fire fighters use small fires and have CO2 bottles on stations. They show how to properly use the bottles and also how to call for help. This is good training the fire department does on my fuel terminal with the locals. The kids and parents love it and they can even see the fire engines shoot out water. The event is for the community and the fire department also has other fire fighters from different parts of the city come and talk to the locals. We as the military work with them and we provide food for the community to eat and we mingle to together to build that trust and comradery The locals know that we will be there for them and we also teach them how to exit their homes and what to have with them to protect them in the event of a fire or emergency. We also talk about the dangers of smoke and not being careful when cooking or using fire. This is good for everyone’s safety and we try to have more people come out every year, so far the two years that I have been here have been very successful.

When it comes to looking at the vision of the future for the community, it may differ slightly from what they want comparatively. Since I live in a small town instead of  a newer or bigger city, They want to keep things to a more older style. They still want to live in the past and not advance anything and try to keep the old town feel and live even with the world constantly evolving.

Having a meeting that will change anything that could take away from the feel of being a old quite town can be painful. We want to make advancements that help the community in being safer when it comes to fires and all but most do not wish to listen because they want to think that it may pull away from the old southern town feel. We want to advance our coverage in the area by putting in another sub station from our main one that would help us with the distant area out of the actual town that is still in our district. The problem they are having with it is that the station would be in a part of the horse country as we call it and they think it would just be in the way and that the money for it would be wasted with it being out there.

We are trying to align their thoughts with ours. It does make it a bit of a pain but a lot of the community is behind us and our vision versus some of the ones on the board for the town. This helping push it but it is still a struggle to try and push it even when it is to help the community and make a reach to the furthest parts of our district.

Choose an Ethnic Group living in America (but not your own group) and right no more than a ten-page report detailing the following:

A) When and why did a substantial number of the Ethnic Group come to America?

B) Where did they settle in the United States and Why in that particular area?

C) What distinguishes the group from other ethnic groups?

D) How well has the ethnic group integrated into American life and to what extent have they tried to keep their own identity?

E) How has the indigenous population of America accepted this particular Ethnic Group?

You should use at least five (5) sources. One of your sources should be a book on the topic.

You must have a Title Page and bibliography of all sources used. You must use notations when quoting or paraphrasing.

Read the material on the problem for this assignment in the Assignment and in Lesson Four and write a 5 page paper on how you would handle this problem and what groups you would enlist to assist you. (This problem is adapted from an actual situation that occurred in Long Island, New York, New York.)

For the past week the local regional newspaper has been running a series of articles attacking all the fire departments in the county commenting on their extravagant practices and wasteful use of public funds.  Comparing the departments to the Metro department to the west of the county all sorts of strange comparisons have been made by the reporter.  Looking at the comments on your department, one of them is that you have a “million dollar beer and jacket fund,” and another is that you as Chief have installed a “the Cadillac of workout gyms,” neither of which is trues, you realize that this series will impact the community’s impressions of the department as you realize that the department has been drifting away from the community during your tenure.  In a discussion with other Chief Officers impacted by the article you find out that the article series was approved by the paper due to the comments made by a fire chief after an incident at the paper when a staff member died because the request for an ambulance was delayed to respond to the injury and the reporter who volunteered for the article series was jilted by a local volunteer firefighter who said she would settle the score.  You do have a gym but it is part of the department’s physical fitness program and meets all standards, and there is no million dollar fund for anything.  With all of this knowledge what do you do to rebuild the community trust and insure that the truth gets out?

Diversity Research Assignment

You will research diversity competent practice with a diverse and disadvantaged and/or oppressed population (your definition of this can be broad – e.g., some groups that could be considered include those with developmental or other physical/mental challenges; sexual or ethnic minorities; older adults; men, because they often aren’t a focus of practice). The goal of this assignment is to assist you in using the social work literature to identify techniques and strategies supported by research in working with diverse groups.

What you need to do:

1. Locate one journal article, book, or professional paper that describes some aspect of social work practice addressing your chosen population. You might begin by looking at the bibliography for the text. In addition, you can consult the computerized databases in the library (e.g., PsycINFO, Social Sciences Abstracts).

2. Read the article and identify one technique or strategy that the author(s) suggests will be helpful in working with this population.

3. Prepare a brief, two to three page, written summary of the technique and a critique of the author’s research. In your review, address the following (5 points each):

a. What does the author suggest are the main clinical or other issues facing this population?

b. Describe the approach suggested by the author(s). Include comments on the extent to which the approach allows for consumers to determine their own goals and options and make their own decisions.

c. Does the author cite any research or study that supports his/her suggestions?

d. What are some of the limitations to using this approach, particularly for this population (e.g., Is it appropriate? Does is limit empowerment, person-directedness in achieving goals, solutions, etc.? Might it reinforce stereotypes/oppression? Is it an evidence-based approach?)?

e. Are there any ethical considerations in using this approach?

f. Would you be comfortable using this approach? Why or why not? Include in this any critique you might have of the approach based on your knowledge of the population, research methods, theory, etc., or any values conflicts you might have personally.

g. What did you learn about this population? Did what you learn change any previously held beliefs, values, ideas, stereotypes, etc. about this population? How?

h. Be sure to include a full citation for the article you used.
