Principles and Power in Leadership

This course has major project assignments that will be due in Weeks 3 and 5. It will take more than a week’s effort to adequately complete them. Plan time to start the research and other work for those assignments earlier than the week in which they are due.

Using the famous leader you chose in Week 1, you will evaluate the leader based on course concepts covered in the last two weeks.

  • Summarize the key details about your chosen leader.
    • Who is s/he?
    • What is the organization?
    • What are one or two important points you have learned so far in your study of the leader?
    • This section of your paper should only be 1 or 2 paragraphs.
  • Analyze the leader’s alignment to the four universal principles: integrity, responsibility, compassion, and forgiveness, citing examples and research to support your assessment. In essence, how did the leader demonstrate (or not demonstrate) those principles in his or her leadership practice?
  • Analyze the different bases of power this leader used, citing examples and research to support your assessment. In essence, how did this leader demonstrate use of power and which bases of power did s/he use to influence others?
  • Analyze the demonstrated beliefs of this leader, citing examples and research to support your assessment. In essence, what did the leader appear to believe about:
    • people inside the organization,
    • people outside the organization,
    • power,
    • processes and policies,
    • profit (or other relevant outcomes).
  • Analyze how this leader affected the culture of his or her organization, citing examples and research to support your assessment. In essence,
    • How did this leader’s attitudes and actions affect followers?
    • Which behaviors had a strong effect on followers?
    • Was this leader credible? Based on what evidence?
    • How did this leader’s attitudes and actions influence the organization’s ethical practices?
    • Was the leader an ethical leader? Based on what evidence?

Gastrointestinal (GI) and hepatobiliary disorders affect the structure and function of the GI tract. Many of these disorders often have similar symptoms, such as abdominal pain, cramping, constipation, nausea, bloating, and fatigue. Since multiple disorders can be tied to the same symptoms, it is important for advanced practice nurses to carefully evaluate patients and prescribe a treatment that targets the cause rather than the symptom. 

 

Once the underlying cause is identified, an appropriate drug therapy plan can be recommended based on medical history and individual patient factors. In this Assignment, you examine a case study of a patient who presents with symptoms of a possible GI/hepatobiliary disorder, and you design an appropriate drug therapy plan.

Review the case study assigned by your Instructor for this Assignment

 

Reflect on the patient’s symptoms, medical history, and drugs currently prescribed.

 

Think about a possible diagnosis for the patient. Consider whether the patient has a disorder related to the gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary system or whether the symptoms are the result of a disorder from another system or other factors, such as pregnancy, drugs, or a psychological disorder.

 

Consider an appropriate drug therapy plan based on the patient’s history, diagnosis, and drugs currently prescribed.

 

 

 

ASSIGNMENT: 

 

The case assignment for this week is as follows: 

 

Patient HL comes into the clinic with the following symptoms: nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. The patient has a history of drug abuse and possible Hepatitis C. HL is currently taking the following prescription drugs:

• Synthroid 100 mcg daily

• Nifedipine 30 mg daily • Prednisone 10 mg daily

 

 

 

Write a 1-page paper that addresses the following:

 

Explain your diagnosis for the patient, including your rationale for the diagnosis.

 

Describe an appropriate drug therapy plan based on the patient’s history, diagnosis, and drugs currently prescribed.

 

Justify why you would recommend this drug therapy plan for this patient. Be specific and provide examples.

This article details the diagnosis and management of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease. Review this article to gain an understanding of the underlying pathophysiology as well as the suggested pharmacotherapeutics that might be recommended to treat this disorder.

 

First,  think about your individual health and health risks, by considering what genetic diseases or problems are prevalent in your family.  Do you  have a predisposition to breast cancer, diabetes, hypertension or any other disease? You may consider your own health risks or those of other individuals such as a family member or friend. Then, in a paper of 750–1,000 words, address the following:

Part I: Evaluating Risk for Disease

  • What genetic diseases or problems did you identify to be potential issues?
  • Choose one of these diseases and provide an introduction of the disease, including the reason why this would be considered to be a genetic/inherited disease?
  •  Discuss the major signs/symptoms of the disorder. Research the mode of inheritance for your chosen disease and provide a thorough discussion of the mode of inheritance. If you are not able to find a specific mode of inheritance, provide a hypothesis for the mode of inheritance. Explain your reasoning thoroughly.
  • What information would help an individual who has been recently diagnosed with the disease?
  • What would you say to a family member who is also at risk for developing the disease? What should they know about passing this disease trait to their children?

Select an artifact or image created in 1000–1300 C.E. using the textbook or other academic resource, such as a museum or library website. Purpose of Assignment 

All products/services go through a life cycle of NPI (new product introduction), growth, maturity, and decline. These various stages affect the marketing strategy and promotional efforts for a particular product or service. you will incorporate a product strategy that addresses at least 3 areas of the product life cycle. The primary objective of this assignment is to allow you to demonstrate an understanding of the factors that can affect the launch of a product or service.
