question

a. What do the highs and lows have in common?

b. If any plateaus what did you do to change the slope?

STudents response

I started my active duty career in the Army National Guard in 2000 and based on my graph, my job satisfaction has ranged between 60-95% up to this point in my career.  Between the years of 2002-2005 my job satisfaction was consistent because I had great leaders and mentors.  Unfortunately, in 2013-2014 it was a complete turnaround because of poor leadership and policy changes which altered negatively the morale of the organization.  Therefore, the commonality between the highs and lows were affected by my unit’s leadership simply put.

The years of 2008-2009 and 2011-2012, are examples of plateaus in the graph and my job satisfaction were high and primarily because I was taking and afforded opportunities to broaden my career and planning long term goals in uniform and as well as the next chapter in my life.  This action resulted in the slope changing.

question

What do you plan to do with your hard-won degree? Set a SMART goal for yourself and then comment on a classmate’s. Add research but doesn’t have to be from a journal.

students response

According to Jay, J. P.H.D (2011) “Goals help us to cut through the clutter of a crowded mind and keep thoughts on the things that matter most. They help us focus. To be effective , you can’t just set random goals the way people do-long lists of wishes that pop up at random and eventually fall away. SMART Goals have helped many people move from vague unattainable goals to clear, specific action. You might want  to use this standard to transform your commitments into powerful goals.” Setting SMART goals seems to be very productive in that it allows us to really be specific in how we are going to accomplish them. I don’t think I have ever used this method and although I know where I want to be in 1 year I never sat down and utilized this.

S- My goal is to become a Manager of Talent Acquisition for Transamerica. I know what it’s like to be a leader as I was a sergeant in the Marine Corps and it gave me satisfaction to be able to develop others and really make an impact on subordinates and my organization. I am at a great organization and would like to hold a leadership role here.

M- I will know that I am getting closer to my goal by being invited and involved with management in future strategic plans for our group. We are currently experiencing growth and it was brought to my attention that there will be opportunities available soon. The awareness my leadership has around my goals to become a manager will allow me to be more involved as I continue to work hard to obtain this.

A-  I feel that I do have the resources and capabilities to reach my goal. I am currently advancing my education in completing my Master’s degree in HR, I am utilizing our Talent Development program and having continuous career development conversations with my mentor. Having the resources available to me on a daily basis will not only give me the first hand insight but it will prepare me for what I will be faced with. Shadowing is huge in our organization and the number one resource to cross training and learning something new, so I do believe this is attainable and realistic.

R- I am willing to do what it takes as my commitment level to my career and my organization has continued to grow. I feel that the culture that I am currently a part of encourages upward growth and development and as I am happy to stay here, I want to continue to advance.

T- A specific target date for me to obtain this goal is January 15th, 2021. I would like to exhaust all my resources in my development as well as complete my degree. Learning processes and the responsibilities of the role is going to be huge for me on order to be ready. I feel like leadership cannot be taught and through my time in the Marine Corps I have adopted those qualities and considered myself to be good at it.

Prompt: You have now read the works of two great intellectuals, Luther and Erasmus, whose

attitudes represent the underpinnings of the Reformation and Counter-Reformation, which led to

the deaths of many Europeans. You have also read the law passed by one polity that actively

avoided state-level violence between Christians from different sects. Briefly explore how these

moral/doctrinal and legal documents could coexist in the same societies. How could secular law

quash religious violence? What would Martin Luther or Erasmus say about this?

After viewing the TED talk about Jessica Jackley (Links to an external site.), share your impressions about her values and story. What does she say about storytelling? What is Kiva and what does it do? Who influenced her? How did she go about helping the poor to help themselves? What were some of the barriers and/or emotions she had to overcome? Please do some research and see if there are any Kiva programs or affiliations in your area or city.

Then discuss the social enterprise you selected from the website listed under Recommended Readings for the week. Why did you select that social enterprise? How is this company or its services/ products adding value to society? What intrigues you about it? Do you see any common themes, patterns, or attributes of the individuals involved in these social enterprises? Do you think the values of this company’s leader(s) and employees are reflected in their mission and workplace dynamics? How can value shape the leadership of a social enterprise or the company itself?

In clinical settings, advanced practice nurses often encounter patients with blood disorders such as anemia. Consider the case of a 17-year-old girl who is rushed to the emergency room after suddenly fainting. The girl’s mother reports that her daughter has had difficulty concentrating for the past week frequently becomes dizzy, and has not been eating normally due to digestion problems. The mother also informs the nurse that their family has a history of anemia. With the family history of anemia, it appears that this is the likely diagnosis. However, in order to properly diagnose and treat the patient, not only must her symptoms and family history be considered, but also factors such as gender, ethnicity, age, and behavior. This poses the question: How do patient factors impact the incidence and prevalence of different types of anemia?

To Prepare

  • Review Chapter 21 in the Huether and McCance text. Reflect on the pathophysiological mechanisms of iron deficiency anemia.
  • Select one of the following types of anemia: pernicious anemia, folate deficiency anemia, sideroblastic anemia, chronic inflammation anemia, or post-hemorrhagic anemia. Identify the pathophysiological mechanisms of the anemia you selected.
  • Consider the similarities and differences between iron deficiency anemia and the type of anemia you selected.
  • Reflect on how patient factors such as genetics, gender, ethnicity, age, and behavior might impact these anemic disorders.
  • APA citation 3 to 4 references within 5 years

Clearly, diagnosis is a critical aspect of healthcare. However, the ultimate purpose of a diagnosis is the development and application of a series of treatments or protocols. Isolated recognition of a health issue does little to resolve it.

Instructions and Guidelines for the Project

For the statistics project, you address some questions that interest you with the statistical methodology you learned.  Student will choose the research question; decide how to collect data; and do the analyses.  The questions can address almost any topic (subject to my approval), including topics in economics, psychology, sociology, natural science, medicine, public policy, sports, law, etc.

The project requires you to synthesize all the material from the course.  Hence, it’s one of the best ways to solidify your understanding of statistical methods and to demonstrate your competency.

 – The first phase will be your project proposal – a single page summary of your intended study and project goals with a project title.

– The last phase will be your final report, that will cover all the steps in a given final report format provided below.  This phase will also include your 20-min project presentation (recorded).

Three topics to choose from:

· Does eating Breakfast increase test scores

· Are men better drivers than women

· Does exercising at night affect your quality of sleep

Or you can make up one.

Project proposal

You should submit a one page proposal describing what you plan to do. Be as specific as possible, describing what question you want to investigate and generally how you plan to obtain data. The instructor will return the proposals to you with comments.  Your proposal should address the following questions:

* What is the topic of your project?

* What are the main issues or problems you plan to address?

* What are your plans for obtaining background information (if needed) about your project?

* Describe the data that you plan on using or collecting, including the variables measured. You don’t have to give a detailed version of your data collection design; you will hand in detailed design plans on the design due date given above.

* What questions and/or concerns do you have about your project?

It is important to be thoughtful about, and provide an adequate description of, the methods and design of the study.  Report on the possible biases associated with your data collection.  You also need to be realistic in planning your research design: can you carry out what you have planned within a reasonable time period and investment of your own energy? The quality of the final product is what counts, not just the amount of perspiration that went into it!  Finally, you should make use of the concepts and methods learned in this course, and not just general knowledge, in planning and completing this type of project.

Practical Advice: It is often easier to collect accurate experimental data than accurate survey data. Nonresponse tends to be less of an issue with projects based on experiments than with those based on surveys.  I strongly encourage you to consider experiments as opposed to surveys.  For those who want to do surveys, consider using students in dorms or certain courses as target populations.  Make every effort to get a random sample, and try to keep track of the characteristics of non-respondents.  You will have nonresponse; your project won’t be penalized for nonresponse as long as you document it and hypothesize how it might affect your results.

  • n your initial post,  Explain market segmentation variables and use a company as an example for that type of segmentation. Explain what variables were used by your mentor company (chosen during your Week 2 Global Marketing Plan Part 1) for segmenting the market and
  • each.
  • Analyze your mentor company’s targeting and positioning strategy in the region you chose.
    • To support your answer, go to your company’s Twitteraccount and find and post a copy or provide the link to at least two tweets in your initial post that reflect your company’s targeting and positioning strategies.

Your initial discussion post should be 250 words and must reflect at least two theories or frameworks discussed in the text (do not forget in-text citations). Cite your textbook and any other sources used to support your ideas. You may refer to Ashford University Writing Center’s APA Style resource.

Why did the United States become more involved in Vietnam when many policymakers knew little of the country? In other words, how did the tiny country of Vietnam become the center of the Cold War? Explain at least one modern issue in foreign policy that is similar to the origins of Vietnam (War on Terror, ISIS, Syria, or any other event in the news).
