Culturally Relevant Inspiration

A number of important resources supporting the design, development,  implementation, and evaluation of culturally relevant instructional  experiences are available online. Throughout this course, you have had  many opportunities to view a number of such resources. This assignment  encourages you to reflect on the key concepts presented in the course  through the creation of a presentation that you can use in the future to  support your teaching efforts. The goal is to showcase schools or  programs representing what you have learned thus far regarding  culturally relevant practices, creativity, and innovation. A plethora of  options exists as you search for a model school or program. While the  K-12 public school setting may be on the forefront of your mind,  remember there are a variety of learning environments available, such as  charter and private schools, technical programs, post-secondary  education and training programs, schools and programs pertaining to the  military, Sunday schools and other religious schools, and more.  Therefore, expand your search efforts to gain a well-rounded perspective  to share in your presentation. The resource you create can also be  shared with colleagues (as well as the public in general) to advocate  for implementing a more culturally-relevant instructional approach to  professional practice.

A listing of free tools you might choose to use as you develop a  website or presentation is presented in the Instructor Guidance. Each  tool includes its own collection of help files and tutorials to support  your creative endeavor. Similarly, there are numerous web-based tools  that could be utilized to create an interactive presentation, such as  Animoto, Knovio, Prezi, or PowToon. Use your creativity and try  something new!

Review the Week Four Instructor Guidance for detailed assistance  about preparing for and completing this assignment. Next, construct your  assignment to meet the content and written communication expectations  below. You will submit this assignment to two places in our course.  First, submit the Assignment to Waypoint, as usual. Second, submit the  Assignment to Doc Sharing. To access the Doc Sharing tool, select  “Modules” in your left navigation menu. In the “Tools” module, you will  find the Doc Sharing page.

If you are enrolled in the MAED Program, it is imperative that you  keep copies of all assignments completed in this course. You will return  to them for the portfolio that you will create in your final MAED  course. This portfolio is a culminating project that will demonstrate  that you have met program outcomes.

Review this week’s Instructor Guidance for additional information  about completing this assignment. Contact your instructor for  clarifications about this or any assessment in the course before the due  date using the “Ask Your Instructor” forum. Then, also using the  Grading Rubric as a guide for your performance on this assignment,  construct your assignment to meet each of the content and written  communication expectations.

Review your assignment with the Grading Rubric to be sure you have  achieved the distinguished levels of performance for each criterion and  submit the assignment for evaluation no later than Day 7.

Below are general types of ANOVA designs we will be reading about in this module. The differences in methodology are based on experimental design:

  1. One-Way Between-Subjects Design
  2. One-Way Within-Subjects (Repeated-Measures) Design

Debate the advantages and disadvantages of these two types of ANOVA designs with your classmates. Summarize the advantages and disadvantages of each from a statistical and practical perspective, and provide a real world example (one for each design) where each design might be used.

Pick one of your real-world examples and use your real world example to explain in detail, how the example you provided fits the design selected for that example. Make sure to discuss your:

  • Experimental design
  • Sample size
  • Number of variables
  • Number of levels for each variable
  • Why you chose the design you selected (between-subjects or within-subjects design)

Assessment Instructions

Preparation

In this assessment, you will propose a quality improvement (QI) initiative proposal based on a health issue of professional interest to you. The QI initiative proposal will be based on an analysis of dashboard metrics from a health care facility. You have one of two options:

Option 1

If you have access to dashboard metrics related to a QI initiative proposal of interest to you:

Analyze data from the health care facility to identify a health care issue or area of concern. You will need access to reports and data related to care quality and patient safety. If you work in hospital setting, contact the quality management department to obtain the data you need.

You will need to identify basic information about the health care setting, size, and specific type of care delivery related to the topic that you identify. You are expected to abide by HIPAA compliance standards.

Option 2

If you do not have access to a dashboard or metrics related to a QI initiative proposal:

You may use the hospital data set provided in the media piece titled Vila Health: Data Analysis. You will analyze the data to identify a health care issue or area of concern.

You will follow the same instructions and provide the same deliverables as your peers who select Option 1.

Instructions

Analyze dashboard metrics related to the selected issue.

Provide the selected data set in the proposal.

Assess the stability of processes or outcomes.

Delineate any problematic variations or performance failures.

Evaluate QI initiatives on the selected health issue with existing quality indicators from other facilities, government agencies, and non-governmental bodies on quality improvement.

Analyze challenges that meeting prescribed benchmarks can pose for a heath care organization and the interprofessional team.

Outline a QI initiative proposal based on the selected health issue and data analysis.

Identify target areas for improvement.

Define what processes can be modified to improve outcomes.

Propose strategies to improve quality.

Define interprofessional roles and responsibilities as they relate to the QI initiative.

Provide recommendations for effective communication strategies for the interprofessional team to ensure the success of the QI initiative. Briefly reflect on the impact of the proposed initiative on work-life quality of the nursing staff and interprofessional team.

Integrate relevant sources to support arguments, correctly formatting citations and references using current APA style.

Note: Remember, you can submit all, or a portion of, your draft to Smarthinking for feedback, before you submit the final version of your analysis for this assessment. However, be mindful of the turnaround time for receiving feedback, if you plan on using this free service.

The numbered points below correspond to grading criteria in the scoring guide. The bullets below each grading criterion further delineate tasks to fulfill the assessment requirements. Be sure that your Quality Improvement Initiative Evaluation addresses all of the content below. You may also want to read the scoring guide to better understand the performance levels that relate to each grading criterion.

Gang activity is perhaps the most destructive force in America. Community-oriented policing attempts to address some of the issues of gang life and how it impacts the quality of life in the community. For this assignment locate a community-oriented policing program or a sub program within one that is attempting to deal with a gang problem. You might start by looking here for ideas:  https://www.bja.gov/programdetails.aspx?program_id=74.  Find one of the community programs and evaluate its effectiveness. Analyze what has worked and what has not worked. Make suggestions as to what might be an improvement to the program.

Write a 2 page APA style paper.  Only the body of the paper will count toward the word requirement (title page and references are in addition to the 2 pages)
