Read Chapter 8 “MENTAL HEALTH AND WELL-BEING” from the Impacts of Climate Change on Human Health report  and Chapter 15 from “the Basics Health”. Write an essay and response to the following questions: what are the effects of climate change on mental health and well-being? What should people do to improve mental health from a climate change perspective? Will extreme heat health decrease the risks for people who have mental issues? What are other environmental factors could impair your health?

The outcome should be an essay not a list of bullet points. The essay should be written in 12-font, Times New Roman. It should be at least 4 pages long with at least 3 citations, APA style.

Choose an organization that you would like to discuss in this week’s discussion board forum. Make sure that you choose an organization that no one has yet posted on in this week’s forum. The organization can be one of your favorites as a consumer, or it might be an organization where you had a poor consumer experience. It could be any organization you are interested in. Once you have chosen the organization you wish to discuss, go to their website, locate the page where the board of directors is listed, and post a link to it in your discussion board post.

Do you feel that the composition of the organization’s board of directors incorporates enough diversity and inclusion? Why or why not?

Do you think demographics should be considered when board appointments are made? For the organization you examined in your post, would you have any recommendations next time the board has a vacancy and a new board member will be appointed? How would you approach this situation?

With the major emphasis in downsizing and restructuring health care to be financially successful, issues of quality nursing care come up frequently.  One common issue related to quality nursing care is medication errors.

In a downsized work environment, medication errors may increase due to limited staffing with licensed nursing personnel.  Often staffing is just enough to be adequate or slightly below what is necessary for safe and quality patient care.

You are a nursing supervisor, and you want to research a medication that was omitted during a change of shift period.  What questions are you going to ask?  Who will you look to for information?  How will I know if a medication error is a result of a nursing colleague’s mistake or a result of an understaffed nursing unit?

Ensure you are upholding professional and respectful communication with your peers and instructors. Please respond to your other classmates posts as required by the discussion board policies.

Two peer responses are required with correct APA format and one references for each response.

Examining Exemplary Leaders in Managing Diversity The purpose of this assignment is to examine the significance of authentic leadership commitment when managing diversity. Begin by selecting ONE (1) of the past or present organization leaders listed below as the topic for your essay: Ajay Banga, Mastercard Kenneth Chenault, American Express Carlos Ghosn, Nissan Motor Company Indra Nooyi, PepsiCo Meg Whitman, Hewlett Packard (HP) For this assignment, write a minimum 750-word essay (approximately three pages). Incorporate at least three sources to support the ideas you present in your essay. These sources may be drawn from the unit lesson or required reading, but at least one of the three sources must be another article or e-book from the Waldorf Online Library, which you will locate independently. Include an introduction as well as the following elements in your essay. Please use headings that correspond to these elements: Leader’s Background: What is the professional background of this leader? Is there any personal information or experience that led to his or her passion for managing diversity? Former Status of Diversity in the Organization: Describe the status of the organization before the leader became a part of the organization. What role did diversity play before this leader came onboard? Leader’s Approach to Diversity and Inclusion: What is the leader’s perspective or philosophy on diversity management? What were the diversity-related goals implemented by the leader? How does the leader put that philosophy into practice as his or her approach to diversity management? Which strategies did the leader implement to transform the way in which the organization managed diversity? Leader’s Diversity Management Outcomes: What is the current status of the organization, in terms of diversity and inclusion? How did this leader impact the organization’s overall success? Conclusion: Summarize the points you presented in your paper, and provide any concluding remarks. Your paper should be in APA style, be sure to cite all your sources, and follow Waldorf’s Academic Integrity Policy.

Assignment – Week 5

Client Intake

Selecting an assessment to use with a client can be an important part of a counselor’s work. A first step in selecting an assessment is often to research options using the Mental Measurements Yearbook. For this Assignment, you will identify a mental health issue, and then research assessments that may help in diagnosing a client.

You will create a self-recorded video directed at your client to explain the rationale for assessing him or her, and you will describe how the assessment you selected will accomplish this.

To Prepare:

· Locate the appropriate Client Intake Form for your state: https://www.apadivisions.org/division-31/publications/records/intake.aspx

· Select 1 of the 3 clients from exercise 3.3 in your textbook.

· Select an appropriate issue to assess that you determine may assist in diagnosing this client, such as suicide, addiction, trauma, depression, anxiety, relationship satisfaction, or other issue.

· Determine which assessment to administer to the client you have selected.

Search the Walden Library for the Mental Measurements Yearbook (MMY) as follows:

· In the Walden Library, select Databases A-Z on the home page.

· Select “M” from the alphabetic menu.

· Select Mental Measurements Yearbook with Tests in Print from the options.

· Find an assessment that you think is a good one to recommend to your ‘client’

· Review the Kaltura Uploader link found in the navigation of the classroom for helpful guidelines for creating and uploading your video for this Assignment. (Note: Please be mindful of the technical requirements needed when creating your video.)

Assignment:

  • Create a 1 – 2 minute      self-recorded video addressing your client
  • To help you address your      comments to your client, you may want to use an object to represent the      client, such as stuffed toy or photograph. This object should be outside      the video frame.
  • In the video, explain to your      client these three things:
    • why you want to assess him or       her
    • which assessment you would       like to administer, and
    • what the assessment will       provide for the client

National Counselor Exam Preparation

There are two primary types of credentials in the counseling profession:

  • Licenses or Certifications      issued by a state licensing board (e.g.,      Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed School Counselor, Licensed      Professional Clinical Counselor, State Certified School Counselor, State      Certified Counselor, State Board Certified TeleMental Health Provider)
  • Certifications issue by a      national certifying board (e.g.,      Nationally Certified Counselor, Nationally Certified School      Counselor)

Both types of credentials are important; most counselors hold both a state licenses and/or state certification and a national certification. For example, most school counselors earn state credentials (either a state license or state certification depending on the state requirements) first and become national certified counselors (NCC) after practicing. Most clinical mental health counseling students, on the other hand, often become NCCs while in field experience and then gain state licensure or state certification after fulfilling state required post-graduate hours.

The requirements for each credential vary by state and counseling setting, but ultimately most credentials require an exam such as a National Counselor Exam (NCE), the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE), or a state board created exam.

The study materials in this class address some of the core content of the NCE, which is part of the requirement for becoming a NCC. Although the resources are outlined for the NCE, they are useful to supplement any and all credentialing exams as the NCE assesses foundational counseling knowledge.

Communication is used to inform, to persuade and to analyze. In this assignment, you will persuade the reader of your point of view by supporting a thesis with objective facts and credible evidence.

In the week 2 forum, you selected your topic for this paper. You will take a stance on this issue and support your stance with credible evidence in your body paragraphs.

For this assignment, you have traditional and creative options. Choose what will challenge your writing and what would be appropriate for your topic and field:

  • Traditional 5 paragraph essay with 1 paragraph introduction, 3 body paragraphs, and 1 paragraph conclusion.
  • Op-ed newspaper article.
  • Blog post.
  • Letter/proposal to stakeholders.
  • Press release.
  • Letter to the editor.
  • Presidential address.
  • Election speech (written only).
  • Application for a position related to the topic.
  • Defense attorney’s opening statement.
  • Case brief.
  • Advocacy statement.
  • Call to action paper.

Guidelines:

In order to persuade the audience to accept the position you are advocating in this paper, you will use different kinds of appeals:

  • ethos (which involves the credibility of the speaker, writer, or authority being cited);
  • logos (which involves facts, statistics, and logic); and
  • pathos (which involves emotions).

A good persuasive argument uses credible sources, objective evidence, and emotional “hooks” to make use of logos, ethos, and pathos respectively.

Be sure your thesis statement is very clear.  It should be a single complete sentence, including both a subject and a predicate, that combine to make claim. Example: “The USA should be more competitive in establishing a presence on Mars.”

Your introduction paragraph should include a “hook” to grab the reader’s attention.  The thesis statement is typically seen in the first paragraph. Your body paragraphs will support the thesis. You should use credible sources and cite them according to the style of your discipline. Your conclusion should reiterate the strongest points from your paper and give the audience something to consider, moving forward.

Requirements:

  • PURPOSE:   To persuade
  • AUDIENCE:   The applicable audience for the type of document you’ve chosen to write.
  • LENGTH:   500 – 750 words (Times New Roman font)
  • SOURCES:   A minimum of 3 with at least 1 from the library, and at least 1 from a professional journal or organization
  • FORMAT:   The citation style that is appropriate for your discipline
  • SUBMIT:   In ASSIGNMENTS submit your essay by uploading your Word file

Use only third person (he/she/they) for a more professional tone. Avoid first person (I, my, us, we) and second person (you and your) in your essay.
