Sunday Homework 4 (10%). Answer course objectives.

The weekly activities generally consist of answering the chapter objectives located near the beginning of each assigned chapter. Make sure to write and enumerate the questions inside quotation marks. Follow that with your original answers not inside quotation marks. At the end of each chapter or the homework, list your references in full (not just a link) and flank each reference by quotation marks. Minimum 150 words per answer (some questions can be completely answered with fewer words).

There are multiple aspects involved with a presentation. Selecting your target audience is a very important part of a presentation. The presentation needs to be appropriate for the audience in order for the learning to be the most effective. Deciding on a target audience for this presentation is a process, but it may be important to recognize our own personal or professional connection to our chosen audience.

Ensuring that a presentation is appropriate for a stated audience might be one of the most important parts of planning a presentation. The audience has to be appropriate for the presentation in order for them to be engaged in the topic. The size of the audience is an important as well as establishing a relationship with your audience. If the audience does not know you, it might be helpful to establish a relationship with them first because this may help them become more interested in yourself as a presenter (Harvard Business Review, 2015).

I am presenting my project at a volunteer fire department in my county. My husband still has a lot of connections to this department even though we are not in the district. Since he was a member there, I have been able to get to know many of the men and women overtime. I picked this location because I know many of the people there and they are a very active station with people of different backgrounds. I know that many of the men and women in this station are interested in health related topics as well as helping others. I think that they will be very engaged in my project topic and it might make them more aware of issues in the community. I know that this audience has both men and women of all ages. I felt that this was very important to me because I would have people from different backgrounds and experience levels. I plan on having a smaller group of people to present to because this will help be really engage my audience. Twenty might be a good amount of people in my audience, however, this could increase. Not only may my presentation be helpful to my audience, but it may also assist them in helping people they interact with during their fire calls. I also plan on focusing my topic on substance abuse, so mentioning signs and symptoms of overdose can be helpful, especially since these individuals see a lot of this.

Selecting an audience for a presentation is challenging. It is important to build a relationship with your audience if you do not already have one. Knowing your audience is also important because this might alter how you give your presentation. I feel that my audience may be more engaged in my presentation because I already have a positive relationship with them. Since I will have a healthcare related topic for my presentation, I feel that my audience is very appropriate for this project.

The topic I have chosen is Mental health.  These are diseases that affects how a person think, feel or relate to other people or to their surroundings. Many people suffer from this or knows someone that suffers from this. It mostly differs from one person to another and range from mild to severe.

Unfortunately, nowadays, many people focus on other things like technology, work or schooling and do not pay much attention to their mental health or that of the people around them. Nowadays, you go to peoples homes, restaurant, playground and other places where people are supposed to be interacting with each other and all you see is people staring at their phones and not taking their time to talk to the people around them to know what they are going through mentally. There are a lot of aspects one has to consider before choosing their target audience. I have to first think about my own knowledge and opinion about mental health. Then later, consider into taking account, the age, gender, interest, education, job, family role and marital status among others of the target audience. Knowing the age, gender and educational level will help in preparing the information for presentation. Knowing their interest will also guide me in selecting the tone for the presentation. The family role or marital status will help decide if a spouse of family member needs to be present during presentation so they can learn more to assist their family member going through this health problem (Clark, 2015).

I have personally experienced loss of very close friends to suicide. They were suffering from depression and all the people around them never took them serious till they actually committed suicide. I witnessed domestic violence in my house growing up, it got to a point I thought it was a normal behavior till it all stopped when the person was diagnosed with bipolar and was put on medication. Most people do not take people who have mental health problems seriously until it is too late and it starts affecting the persons daily activities, family, work, school or even sometimes death. I learned and understood more about mental health when I became a nurse. I connect more to my target audience because we live in the same community and share the same societal values, face the same common problems and I am able to refer them to some of the resources that are available for them in the community.

Revise and edit your draft copy and submit the  final draft of your Research Paper.

Your final draft  should be free of grammatical errors.  Using appropriate transitions, connect your paragraphs with  supporting statements relevant to your central idea to produce a cohesive piece of writing.

Include at least three more reference sources.

You will continue in the design of your proposed model program by demonstrating your understanding of your selected populations challenges, which negatively impact this groups health and well-being. Based on this weeks research, conduct an assessment of the barriers, limitations, and other distinguishing features, as they exist within your community.

1)  Prepare a recap of the model program for your community using the same model program from the assignment attached. As stated, before changes to the potential program can be made as you research and develop the focus of the program.

2)  Analyze and discuss at least three critical barriers that impact the health and well-being of your chosen group; one must be a micro-level (individual) barrier that is financial, one must be a macro-level (community/state) barrier that relates to access and funding for care, and  the third barrier may be one of your choosing.

3)  Discuss at least one proposed solution for each barrier. Your solution for the micro barrier must include an analysis of various potential funding options (both independent and integrated). Your solution for the macro barrier must include an analysis of financing resources for health care.

4)  Research and analyze the regulatory, legal, ethical, and accreditation requirements and issues for the service(s) offered in your proposed program.  Discuss how each will impact the management of the program.

Your assignment should be a minimum of three pages in length (excluding title and reference pages) and should include a minimum of three scholarly sources cited according to APA.

2/8/20 @9am Eastern w/ plag report

Respond to one of the question prompts below with a paper at least three pages, double-spaced. The claims made in your paper should be supported through careful engagement with the text. I welcome you to contact me if you have any questions or if you would like any assistance. You will need to submit an electronic copy and bring a paper copy to class for submission.

  1. The Euthyphro can be examined from both the search for definitions, and as the struggle between two forms of life; the philosophical and the sophistical/pious.  Why do you think, bearing these two aspects of the text in mind, that the text has an inconclusive ending?  There are several issues that you will want to bear in mind:  How do Socrates and Euthyphro represent different forms of living?  Is Socrates questioning fair?  Does Euthyphros inability to adequately respond to Socrates reflect the weaknesses of the sophistical/pious life?
  2. Socrates claims that the unexamined life is not worth living.  Reconstruct his argument in support of this claim.  First, explain what Socrates thinks is valuable about life. Then explain what the value of examination is. In a paragraph, develop a criticism of one part of Socratess argument.

Discussion Question Chapter 1(3&4), Chapter 3(2), and Chapter 4(2) Chapter 5 (3&4), and Discussion Question Chapter 6 (3&4)

1. As noted in the chapter, research found that firm effects are more important than industry effects. What does this mean? Can you think of situations where this might not be true? Explain.

2. Choose an industry with a clear leader, and then examine the differences between the leader and one or two of the other competitors in the industry. How do the strategies differ? What has the leader done differently? Or what different things has the leader done?

3. How do the five competitive forces in Porters model affect the average profitability of the industry? For example, in what way might weak forces increase industry profits, and in what way do strong forces reduce industry profits? Identify an industry in which many of the competitors seem to be having financial performance problems. Which of the five forces seems to be strongest?

4. a. Conduct a value chain analysis for McDonalds. What are its primary activities? What are its support activities? Identify the activities that add the most value for the customer. Why? Which activities help McDonalds to contain cost? Why?

b. In the past few years, McDonalds has made a lot of changes to its menu, adding more healthy choices and more higher-priced items, such as those offered in McCaf (e.g., premium roast coffee, frapp, and fruit smoothies), and has also enhanced its in-restaurant services (e.g., free, unlimited Wi-Fi; upgraded interiors). Did McDonalds new prioritiesin terms of a broader, healthier menu and an improved in-restaurant experiencerequire changes to its traditional value chain activities? If so, how? Try to be as specific as possible in comparing the McDonalds from the recent past (focusing on low-cost burgers) to the McDonalds of today.

5. Interface, Inc., is discussed in Strategy Highlight 5.1. It may seem unusual for a business- to-business carpet company to be using a triple-bottom-line approach for its strategy. What other industries do you think could productively use this approach? How would it change customers perceptions if it did?

6. The chapter highlights several firms that are developing business models around a sharing economy. The idea being that assets not currently in use by their owners (cars, car seats, homes, rooms, etc.) can be rented to (shared with) others. What other industries can you think of that can be disrupted by this new business model? Where do you see excess space or other assets that could perhaps be utilized more efficiently?

7. In Chapter 4, we discussed the internal value chain activities a firm can perform in its business model (see Exhibit 4.8). The value chain priorities can be quite different for firms taking different business strategies. Create examples of value chains for three firms: one using cost leadership, another using differentiation, and a third using value innovation business-level strategy.

8. The chapter notes there are key differences between economies of scale and learning effects. Let us put that into practice with a brief example. A company such as Intel has a complex design and manufacturing process. For instance, one fabrication line for semiconductors typically costs more than $1.5 billion to build. Yet the industry also has high human costs for research and development (R&D) departments. Semiconductor firms spend an average of 17 percent of revenues on R&D. For comparison the automobile industry spends a mere 3 percent of sales on R&D.44 Thus Intels management must be concerned with both scale of production and learning curves. When do you think managers should be more concerned with large-scale production runs, and when do you think they should be most concerned with practices that would foster or hinder the hiring, training, and retention of key employees?
