Please describe the elements that characterize the concept of the early modern witch. How is the early modern concept of the witch different from concepts of witchcraft in pagan societies (Greek, Nordic)? Which social, political, and ideological changes account for this transformation? Which aspects of pagan mythology were integrated into the early modern concept of witchcraft?

Some guidelines:
Avoid empty generalizations and vague statements. Make sure you convey information that isn’t trite.
These are some examples of what you should NOT do:
- Throughout history mankind has been fascinated with the witch.
- The witch rides on a broom, has a pointy hat, and a really long nose.
- Witches are creatures of fiction and of history.
Don’t repeat the same argument over and over again.
Make sure the wording is correct.
Have somebody check your grammar:
- No sentence fragments
- Use active voice
- Avoid long and convoluted sentences
- Consistency (don’t start with singular and continue with plural, e.g., when a witch is executed, they suffer a lot)
- Make sure you use the right word in the right context (e.g., “the concept of the devil as all powerful imbues the idea of the witch”: imbues with what?)
- A man who (not “that”)
- Consistent use of present or past tense: don’t write “witches are accused of entering a pact with the devil. They were executed.”
-
