You will be required to write a 5-7 page paper in APA format (i.e., 12 point font, 1 inch margins, double spaced, etc.). You will choose a developmental theorist, such as Freud, Erickson, Piaget, etc., and reflect on your personal development as it relates to their developmental stages. (Example: Freud’s oral, anal, phallic, latency, and genital stages of development). You will need to email me by 5pm on September 27, 2016 of your chosen developmental theorist. Write a brief introduction about the theorist you have chosen and briefly describe their developmental stages. Compare and contrast your chosen theorist’s theory with at least 2 other theorists. Then answer the following questions: Did you meet this theorist’s developmental stages? If not, consider how, if at all, that impacted you. What stage are you in? How do you know what stage you’re in? Do you agree with the theorist’s stages? If not, what would you change and why? Please do not limit yourself to the questions provided in this paragraph. This exercise is meant to connect you with the material we are discussing, so feel free to expand. Papers over 10 pages in length will not be accepted. A reference list is not required unless you use resources other than your text book.
What I sent to my professor on who I was writing about: “After consideration, I chose to write about Freud, Erikson, and Piaget.
Freud had a very different outlook on development. He believed in a psychosexual developmental theory. Therefore, he believed every stage of development had to do with sexual outlook. An example being oral stage and anal stage.
Erikson believed in the psychosocial developmental theory, meaning social interactions and experiences socially are the driving role in development. With eight stages, starting at infancy and ending with death, the individual must get through conflict in each stage to continue to grow developmentally.
Piaget’s outlook was a cognitive developmental theory that would explain the thought process an individual has as well as mental states. It gave a view as to how the thought process affects the individual developmentally and psychologically.”
