Write a thesis-driven rhetorical analysis essay in which you examine the rhetorical effectiveness of the speech.
Purpose

Rhetorical analysis is a common writing assignment given to college students. Different teachers call it different things, but students are often asked to read an article, chapter, or another piece of writing and analyze it. Therefore, this assignment is intended to give you practice writing an analysis so that you can receive feedback that will help you as you write rhetorical analyses in your future college career.
Audience

For this assignment, your audience is a college instructor. Your goal is to write a rhetorical analysis that would receive an A grade.
Format

Follow the guidelines for a rhetorical analysis found in Chapter 8 of your text. You may consult the Organization Plan for a Rhetorical Analysis found on page 169 and the sample rhetorical analysis on pages 170 to 174 for ideas about how to organize your paper. Be sure to use MLA format and include a Works Cited.
