Understanding myself from the anthropological perspective
Since CULTURE is the focus of ANTHROPOLOGY, define and discuss its influence in determining who you are and how you think and behave. Discuss culture as a concept by describing examples from your own life. Try to create a contemporary definition of your culture and place in it based on your reading. Think about the diversity of cultures you are exposed to at Wright, in Chicago, or in the US. Show how ANTHROPOLOGY has attempted to guide our cultural understanding. How has and will culture shape your personality and identity throughout your life cycle. Insert specific descriptions or representative activities, tradition, and modes of communication that reflect the values of your group. Describe what you see as your family, your household, relationships, and the kinds of behavior involved. Discuss some of the ways you differ culturally from your parents. Describe aspects of your family microculture (language, traditions, and lifestyles) you intend to maintain. Show that you understand how Anthropology is both similar and different to Psychology and Sociology.
