If you have a microphone at home (these can be purchase at any local computer store inexpensively), perform an Internet search and find a free download of a trial version of a voice-capture dictation system. Dictate and use the system to transcribe a “mockвЂк patient report as a physician would on your computer screen (you can find reports in your HIM1000 (Green) lab manual.

 

How would you compare the speed of this report to the older method of dictating and waiting for a transcriptionist to obtain the dictation and then type the report. What do you find the pros and cons to be? What free trial version did you use?
