Global Health (PBH.350)
Global Policy Brief Presentations / Paper Directions and Rubric

Directions: Each student or group will selected a problem in global health. It can be a problem that we discussed in class or something that we did not go over.

The paper should be 2 pages (double-spaced) long for each person working in the group. For example, if there are two people in the group, the paper should be between 4 to 6 pages. Presentations lengths will be assigned before the presentations.

Both the presentation and the paper should contain the following elements:

  1. Problem: Describe the global health problem you are proposing to confront. This section should answer the following questions:

    1. What is the problem?

    2. What are factors known to cause the problem?

    3. Where is the problem most prevalent?

    4. Has the prevalence of the problem changed over time? If so, what is believed to have impacted this changing prevalence?

  2. Existing Interventions: Describe what has been done to deal with the problem. This section should include:

    1. A description of interventions that have been tried.

    2. A description of where and when these interventions have been tried.

    3. An assessment of how effective these interventions have been. I encourage you to look for critical reviews of the intervention

  3. Proposed intervention: Based on your understanding of your chosen health problem you should propose a new strategy to confront the problem. This proposed strategy does not need to be completely original, but it should be something that has not been tested on a large scale to deal with your chosen health problem. For this section, you should:

    1. Describe your intervention.

    2. Explain when, where, and how it will be implemented.

    3. Propose how the intervention will be evaluated.

Topic 2: Discussion Question 1

Explain the difference between summative assessment and formative assessment. When and how should teachers use each type of assessment? Provide two specific examples.

Topic 2: Discussion Question 2

Teachers can perform quick formative assessments during a lesson and the students feedback can determine what they do not understand, what to modify, and what can lead to follow-up questions. How would you use feedback from students during pre- and formative assessments to inform instructional decisions?

Part 1: Pre-Assessment Using Non-Standardized Assessments

Begin this assignment by pre-assessing a small group of students as a continuation of your clinical field experience in Topic 4. In this field experience, you were asked to select a developmentally appropriate and engaging technology-based assessment that was implemented with your identified small group. After assessing the children, write a 250-500 word summary of the experience. Describe the academic area you assessed, the
assessment tool used, the results of the pre-assessment, and your considerations regarding differentiation (why you did or did not differentiate the assessment.) When recording the assessment results, keep the information confidential and use pseudonyms for the students.

Part 2: Design and Deliver a Lesson

In your Topic 5 field experience you were asked to design and deliver a lesson. Reflecting on your experience, you identified differentiations you would make to your lesson, assessment, and/or assessment procedures in the future. Revise and complete your lesson plan to reflect these differentiations.

Part 3 : Analyze Post-Assessment Data and Communicate the Assessment Results

After delivering the lesson and post-assessment, begin analyzing the pre- and post-assessment data. Select one student with exceptionalities to provide additional assistance at home. Write a 250-500-word letter to send home to the family of this student that provides feedback regarding his or her performance. This letter should include information regarding the assessment data and suggest a research-based at-home activity that the parents can facilitate to support their childs development in the domain area. In addition provide the family a rationale as to why that specific activity is appropriate for meeting their childs needs, including how the activity supports the childs transition for the next grade level.

Submit the pre-assessment summary, the revised lesson plan, the post-assessment data, the family letter, and the rationale as one deliverable.

While APA style format is not required for the body of this assignment, solid academic writing is expected, and in-text citations and references should be presented using APA documentation guidelines, which can be found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.

MILH565 History of Peacekeeping – 1988 to present

Week 6 Forum

At the beginning of the 21st century, the UN ordered a serious examination of the peacekeeping efforts of the 1990s and suggested reforms in the so-called Brahimi Report which we will examine

These years also saw peacekeeping operations in Burundi, Chad, Cote d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of the Congo Eritrea and Ethiopia, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Sudan, and Syria Such a number of commitments meant that, UN Peacekeepers were stretched incredibly thin and were taking on increasingly diverse missions These missions required them to develop new strategies to accomplish missions unstable environments with an ever-changing list of requirements and expectations

In this forum we should discuss the types of reforms recommended, and how they played out in the peacekeeping operations of the past decade  What new challenges did they face? Were they successful?

Each module, beginning now in Module Two, you are assigned two articles to read, found in each module’s resources.  Critique these articles. They are uploaded below along with rubric. Answer questions under main eleents along with critiquing these articles.

An in-depth understanding of developmental milestones in infants and toddlers will help families and educators collaborate to promote healthy cognitive, social, emotional, physical, and language development in young children.

For this assignment, you will create a digital handout for each of the ages listed (birth to 12 months; 13-24 months; 25-36 months; and 37-48 months) that could be emailed to families. The handouts should be professionally presented and visually appealing.

In each handout, you will explain developmental milestones children should achieve at each of the following ages. The handouts must include:

  • Description of cognitive, social, emotional, physical, and language development characteristics and needs of a child at that age
  • Description of at least one milestone in each developmental area
  • Explanation of the long-term importance of each milestone
  • Two strategies families can use to help their children with development

Support your handouts with 3-5 scholarly references.

While APA format is not required for the body of this assignment, solid academic writing is expected, and in-text citations and references should be presented using documentation guidelines, which can be found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.

The social and emotional development of young children includes four components: Trust and emotional security, self-awareness, self-regulation, and relationships with other children. Identify 3-5 books that could be used with young children to promote these four components. List activities that could be used in conjunction with the books to support young childrens social and emotional development. Each candidates post should include books that have not been shared by other classmates.

The cognitive development of young children includes four components: Exploration and discovery, memory, problem solving, and imitation and symbolic play. Young babies enter the world ready to learn and begin immediately to acquire and process new information. Based on this understanding, identify the importance of promoting cognitive development for infants and toddlers and note indicators and examples of behaviors for the four components listed above at each of the three stages: Young infant (birth to 8 months), older infant (6-18 months), and toddler (15-36 months).

Follow the instructions on each practice sheet and submit for Professor input via attachment to this assignment.

Please submit assignments via Blackboard by Monday, January 13 at 11:59pm.

Week 12 Discussion

Chapter 12 discusses continuing the “scholarly conversation.” After reviewing this Chapter, comment on this concept from the perspective of what it means to you post-LIB100, as you continue to move forward both scholastically and professionally. Consider the following in your comment:

  • What does the term, “scholarly conversation” mean to you?
  • How successful do you feel you were in creating new information with your Semester Project? Why, or why not?
  • How do you see yourself as a current and continuing information creator, not just an information consumer?

As always, be sure to post one primary post and comment on at least two of your colleagues’ posts to receive full participation credit in this week’s Forum.

Please have all your postings to the Forum complete by Monday, January 13 at 11:59pm.
