As we have discussed in LCS 121, many people today consider the practice of reading to be under threat. Both Orwell’s “Politics and the English Language” and Carr’s “Is Google Making Us Stupid?” deal, in part, with these concerns about declines in literacy. In a short argumentative paper, and supporting your argument with scholarly research, weigh in on this topic. Is technology, as some writers think, having an adverse effect on how people think? Or is it—as many others believe—leading to breakthroughs in intelligence and innovation?  (counter argument)- a one para claim

  • Your paper should include a Works Cited page (which does not count towards the page total) and the citations should be in MLA format.
  • Your paper should be titled, and include the number of the question you are answering in the upper left hand corner (along with name, date, and class information).
  • You may use scholarly material already read in class, but these sources do not count towards your two outside sources mentioned above.
