Management
Poor Bob! He sits all day in his cubicle at work, quietly snacking on Oreo cookies, enjoying the leisurely pace of his regular workday, dreaming of becoming the company owner some day. At 2pm, his calm day is shattered when his boss (who doesn’t like Oreo’s, much preferring the chocolaty taste of a Snickers bar), comes to Bob’s workstation and says, “hey, Bob, you went to New Mexico once, didn’t you? You know something about traveling to foreign locations, then…right?” Bob, perplexed, stares at his boss, wondering “How did you get that position, anyway?”…but answers, “yes, I know something about international travel. What do you need?”
“Well,” Bob’s boss says, “we got two orders, one from Argentina and one from someplace called Bulgaria…I’ve never heard of Bulgaria…say, have you, Bob?” Bob, still wondering why this person has to be his boss, says “well, what do you want me to do with the orders?” Bob’s boss says… “Ship ‘em…now!”
Bob looks at the two orders and discovers the one to Bulgaria is for USD1,000. The one to Argentina is for USD25,000. The Argentina order is VERY LARGE and takes lots of space. The Bulgaria order is small, maybe 3 boxes in total. Now, Bob is no dummy (hey, smart people like Oreos, too!),so he knows he is going to have to do some research to get the orders shipped correctly AND PAID FOR!
Using the terminology below, how would you advise Bob to proceed? Be sure to explain yourself thoroughly, using all the terms. Bob really appreciates your help, and he hopes to be able to buy more Oreos when he gets a great be “Thank you” from his boss for completing this task.
