Approach Document And Taxonomy Template Draft 1 (Due Day 3)
Before starting this assignment, complete the Week 7 Activity 1. Ensure that the following points are covered relative to your search strategy:

How you will conceptualize a topic to suggest search strategies;
Identify at least ten search terms to use;
Preferred search engines and repositories
How you will adjust the search strategy if you are coming up with too many or too few hits; and
How you will you determine whether or not an article gets included in the final matrix (taxonomy).
Part A: Develop an Approach Document to Search for Gaps in the Literature

Prepare an Approach Document for determining gaps in the literature. Similar to the Approach Documents you developed in Weeks Two and Four, the format for the assignment is equivalent to a recipe in a cookbook. A good recipe is one that anyone can read and replicate what you have done. List numerically, in a step-by-step manner, the actions you will take to search, access, analyze, evaluate and synthesize scholarly literature to identify knowledge gaps. A companion flow chart or PowerPoint, or any combination thereof may help you to visualize the process. Full sentences are not necessary. Word count should not exceed 700 words.

Part B: Implement an Approach to Search for Gaps in the Literature

Follow the steps in your Approach Document and begin your search for articles that you will use to find gaps in the literature. Your goal is to analyze and evaluate articles such that you end up with 5 articles that represent the start of a collection of articles from which information will be synthesized to find gaps in the literature. Analyze each article selected relative to the criteria listed in the Taxonomy Template. Evaluate whether the results of your analysis will be useful for determining gaps across a full body of articles. If the article is deemed by you to be useful, enter the information about the article into the Taxonomy Template. Each article represents a row of information in the template. Enter an article on a new row and entire the required information about the article into the columns across the row. Refer to the Dissertation Field Guide, Table 9-3, for an example of a completed taxonomy template.

Deliverables

Approach document to include a numeric listing, in a step-by-step manner, the actions you will take to search, access, analyze, evaluate and synthesize scholarly literature to identify knowledge gaps;
A Taxonomy Template with a minimum of 5 articles where information about each article is deconstructed and entered into a row and columns in the template.
A one-paragraph discussion of potential gaps that can be identified once another 5 to 10 qualified articles are entered into the template and a synthesis of the information take place.

Total Possible Score: 15.00
Criterion 1
Total: 4.00
Approach Document satisfactorily meets the following criteria:
Describes steps that the student plans to take to identify gaps in the literature. Steps include those needed to
search (including where to search, terms to search, and contingency strategies for dealing with too many or too few results),
access,
analyze ,
evaluate (including strategies for identifying appropriate resources), and
synthesize (steps to deconstruct and synthesize as well as code the results) scholarly literature to identify gaps
Steps described are actionable and reasonable and will likely result in success.
Steps are described such that they could be replicated successfully by someone else.
Description of approach addresses all steps required to identify gaps in the literature. The steps described are adequate but require some modification or revision in order to result in success and replicability.
Description of approach addresses all steps required to identify gaps in the literature. The steps described are adequate but require some modification or revision in order to result in success and replicability.
Description of approach addresses only some of the steps required to identify gaps in the literature.
The steps described are adequate but require some modification or revision in order to result in success.
OR
Description of approach addresses all steps, but three or more steps require major modification or revision in order to result in success and replicability.
Description of approach addresses all steps, but the steps require major modification or revision in order to result in success and replicability.
OR
Description of approach addresses only one or two steps.
Document does not describe any reasonable or actionable that will likely result in success completing the taxonomy template.

Taxonomy Template
Total: 4.00
The Taxonomy Template includes a minimum of 5 articles. Information about each article is deconstructed and entered into a row and columns in the template.
The taxonomy template includes only 4 articles, all of which are deconstructed.
OR
The taxonomy template includes all 5 articles, but the articles are incompletely deconstructed.
The taxonomy template includes only 2 or 3 articles, all of which are deconstructed.
OR
The taxonomy template includes 4 articles, but the articles are incompletely deconstructed.
The taxonomy template includes only 1 article, which is deconstructed.
OR
The taxonomy template includes all 2 or 3articles, but the articles are incompletely deconstructed.
The taxonomy template is not included.

One-Paragraph Discussion
Total: 2.00
Discussion reasonably identifies potential gaps that can be identified once another 5 to 10 qualified articles are entered into the template and a synthesis of the information takes place.
Discussion reasonably identifies potential gaps that can be identified once another 5 to 10 qualified articles are entered into the template and a synthesis of the information takes place, but some obvious gaps are not included
Discussion identifies potential gaps but some of the gaps are not supported by the existing articles.
Discussion is included, but gaps are not relevant to/supported by the articles already identified.
No discussion is included.

Clarity
Total: 5.00
Steps in the process are clearly described, organized, and presented in such a way that a reader could carry out the steps with little to no additional clarification.
Steps in the process are fairly well described, organized, and presented in such a way that a reader could carry out the steps with some clarification.
Steps in the process are described, but are unclear or disorganized, requiring significant clarification to a reader. OR Some steps are very clear, but others require major clarification.
Description of the steps in the process requires major clarification for a reader to be able to understand and carry out the steps.
Steps are not described, organized, or presented in any way that is comprehensible to a reader.
