Order Description
Apply the knowledge of a primary source analysis by examining the primary sources on the topic. You will need to do the background reading from the textbook (Henretta, James A. et. al., America’s History Vol. 2: Since 1865. 8th ed. Boston: Bedford/St. Martin’s, 2014.)
In regular paragraph format, identify the authors, when they were written, the type and purpose of the documents, what can be learned from them, and how the different biases give readers a fuller perspective on the topic. Make sure to include an over-arching THESIS statement that states YOUR conclusions about the topic as a whole, as well as an introductory and concluding paragraphs. It is not necessary to include the part about what other sources a historian can examine, as you will be analyzing multiple sources from multiple perspectives.

Here is your topic: why were Mexicans being restricted in the 1920s and 1930s? We’re these reasons justified?

There are five documents attached that will ALL need to be analyzed for this paper.

Restrictions: this is NOT a research paper. This assignment assesses YOUR ability to analyze, compare, and contrast primary sources from different viewpoints. You are allowed to use the documents and textbook. You are PROHIBITED from using outside material, including outside books, materials from other people, notes or materials from other classes, and other web pages on the Internet. I am NOT looking for a comprehensive history of the subject, but an analysis of the documents provided to you.

Quotations: you should include a minimum of 5 direct quotes for this paper, NOT long block quotes. There is no max on the number of quotes, but don’t use so many that the paper is just a string of quotes. I need to see YOUR ideas in there!

There are actually 4 different documents attached in that one file and that is what you need to analyze, not 5. For context, only use the textbook I stated in the description of my order. The pages are 712-781. Thank you.
