Assignment 1: Multiple Intelligences in Daily Life

 

In this assignment, you will apply a theory of multiple intelligence to your own life by identifying the intelligences you use throughout the day, as well as which intelligences come easily to you and which could be developed further.

 

To prepare

 

Review this week’s Learning Resources on multiple intelligences.

 

Select a theory of multiple intelligences that interests you the most.

 

Track a 24-hour day in your life and, based on the theory you selected, identify which intelligences you applied throughout your day.

 

Think about the intelligences that come easily to you and those that could be developed further.

Submit a 1-to 2-page paper that addresses the following:

 

Briefly describe the theory of multiple intelligence you selected.

 

Using the theory you selected, describe the different intelligences you applied throughout your day.

 

Explain which areas of intelligence come naturally to you and which areas could be further developed and why. Be specific and support your conclusions with scholarly literature

Select one nursing theory and one counseling theory to best guide your practice in psychotherapy.

• Explain why you selected these theories. Support your approach with evidence-based literature.

 

• Develop at least three goals and at least three objectives for the practicum experience in this course.

To begin, select an existing health care system in a small U.S. city preferably in the state where you live. The city should have a population of less than 200,000.

 

Create a 700- to 1,050–word profile of the city you selected along with details like:

 

Map of the city

 

Types and locations of medical services

 

Demographics (population, age, gender, etc.)

 

Income and employment

 

Residential details

 

Include a rationale of why you selected the city, including if you have any prior experience or knowledge about the existing health care system in that city.

 

Cite three reputable references to support your assignment (e.g., trade or industry publications, government or agency websites, scholarly works, or other sources of similar quality).

Discussion 2: Cultural Aspects of Attachment

 

To prepare for this Discussion

 

Review the articles found in the Learning Resources (and any additional articles you might have located in the Walden Library) related to attachment and consider the cross-cultural aspects of attachment.

 

Select two different cultures examined in the articles or in literature you have located in the Walden Library.

 

Think about how views on attachment are similar and different in these two cultures. Consider whether the differences in attachment have any bearing on an infant’s well-being in either culture.

 

Describe the two cultures you selected. Then, explain the similarities and differences in attachment in these two cultures. Include whether the differences might impact infants’ well-being in the two cultures and why or why not. Be specific.

To complete this Assignment, write a 2- to 4-page paper addressing the following:

 

Summarize your results from the Life Expectancy Calculator assessment and analyze your initial reactions to those results.

 

Describe at least three modifiable risk factors that may impact your life expectancy. Describe strategies you could use to address these factors and improve your daily health practices.

 

Explain which social determinants of health might be contributing to your personal risk factors.

 

Formulate one long-term SMART goal and one short-term SMART goal that you think will increase your life expectancy and reduce your risk of contracting preventable diseases. Explain how you will hold yourself accountable for the realization of those goals and how you will track your progress.

 

Support your work with specific citations from this week’s Learning Resources and additional scholarly sources, as appropriate.

Write an essay describing the following three issues in addressing terrorism: 

 

1.  The importance of intelligence-gathering to counter-terrorism. 

 

2.  The role of the military in a long-term counter-terrorism effort.

 

3.  How social media has changed the way we counter terror in the modern era.

Examine the strategic planning process. Imagine that your organization is planning to build a pediatric clinic in your local community. Review the pediatric clinics in your neighborhood.

 

Determine one external factor and one internal factor that you should consider in the strategic planning of your clinic.

 

Determine three reasons why strategic plans fail. Recommend a strategy to overcome each of the reasons you identified and include concepts from the weekly reading in the textbook or from peer-reviewed journal articles. 

 

Many of you are probably familiar with Boston’s Children’s Hospital. As we explore strategic planning this week, and you share your example with us, I want you to visit the website of Boston’s Children’s Hospital. Think about how they developed a strategic plan to serve the community and what would be some factors that helped them achieve the ranking of number one on the best children’s honor roll.

Post a brief summary of the program that you selected. Recommend a program evaluation model that would answer a question relevant to the program. Explain the potential benefits of the program evaluation that you proposed (both process and outcome). Identify 2–3 concerns that stakeholders might have about your proposed evaluation and how you would address those concerns. Then explain 2–3 concerns that stakeholders may have about your proposed program evaluation and how you would address those concerns.

 

Create a guide to project closure. Discuss the key steps that project managers and teams must carry out in the course of closing the project, and, in addition, identify and describe the categories of project termination.

 

Your essay must be at least three pages in length, not counting your title and reference pages. All sources used, including the textbook, must be referenced. Paraphrased and quoted material must have accompanying citations. All references and citations used must be in APA style.

Week 1 – Assignment 

Organizational Culture Analysis

Symbols of culture are called artifacts. Artifacts are the most visible and accessible level of culture. These include behaviors, stories, rituals (everyday practices that are repeated frequently), and symbols (e.g., company logos, company colors). For example, the president of a company volunteering at Habitat for Humanity is an artifact of culture. An example of symbols as an artifact of culture is Ashford University’s shield that serves as our logo and is printed on transcripts, diplomas and letterhead paper. Submit a two- to three-page paper (excluding the title and reference pages) describing the culture of either your current or past place of employment.

Your paper should provide examples of and address each of the following topics:

1. Observable artifacts

2. Espoused values (These are what organizational members say they value, like ethical practice.)

3. Enacted values (These are reflected in the way individuals actually behave.)

In addition, describe how each item listed above impacts the values and culture of the organization.

 

Your paper must use a minimum of two scholarly sources, in addition to the textbook. Your paper must also follow the APA Style guide.
