Assume that today is May 31, 2012, and Table A2.4 (in the exercise) contains the tracking information for the project up till now. Enter this information into your saved baseline file, and prepare a 1-page status report for the POM + project.

 

Your status report should address the following questions:

 

• How is the project progressing in terms of cost and schedule?
• What activities have gone well? What activities have not gone well?
• What do the PCIB and PCIC indicate in terms of how much of the project has been accomplished to date?
• What is the forecasted cost at completion (EACf)? What is the predicted VACf?
• Report and interpret the TCPI for the project at this point in time.
• What is the estimated date of completion?
• How well is the project doing in terms of its priorities?

 

Present the above information in a form worthy of consideration by top management.

 

Include printouts of an Earned Value table and a Tracking Gantt Chart.

• Select an audience of learners (nursing students, nursing staff, or patients) that you are interested in teaching.
• Reflect on the diverse learning needs of this specific audience and select one to further investigate for your Discussion*.

Reflect on the examples and non-examples of action verbs. Then, consider the action verbs that you might select to address the identified learning need.
• Review the Crafting Learning Objectives document, which is located in this week’s Learning Resources. Then, craft at least two learning objectives—relevant to the learning need that you identified, which follow the format required of the Nursing Education specialization.
• Consider learning activities that might align to these learning objectives. For example, if the learning objective is to demonstrate the ability to accurately take a patient’s blood pressure, the activity should involve students practicing the process of blood pressure readings; if the learning objective is to compare learning theories, the activity may include a small group discussion.
• Consider how each activity could be used to meaningfully assess student, staff, or patient learning.
• Keeping the audience and learning need in mind, create a description of a learning activity that aligns to the objectives.

 

* Select an audience and learning need about which you are genuinely interested. You will keep this focus (audience, learning need, learning objectives) and expand on it over the next three Discussions.

 

By Day 3

 

Post the audience and learning need that you have selected. Describe the learning activity that you might use to address this need and identify at least two appropriate learning objectives. Explain how each objective aligns to the learning activity, as well as how each objective can be used to meaningfully assess student, staff, or patient learning. Justify your response with references to this week’s Learning Resources and current literature.

Journal Article Research and Analysis

 

Strategic compensation is a component of the human resource system. Organizations must determine the importance of many factors when choosing compensation and benefits. Write a three-to-five page essay (not including the title and reference pages) that summarizes the impact and effect of compensation within an organization. Your paper should be written in a scholarly third-person tone; it should be in APA format. In addition to the introduction and conclusion, your paper should address the following:

 

1. Examine how organizations determine the relative importance of compensable factors. 
2. Evaluate how compensation strategies tie into underlying corporate values.
3. Analyze an example which demonstrates how an organization’s compensation and benefits programs have been utilized to obtain corporate strategic goals.

Document A: The 18th Amendment (Modified)

 

 

Context: The US Senate passed the 18th Amendment on December 18, 1917. It was ratified on January 16, 1919, after 36 states approved it. The 18th Amendment, and the enforcement laws accompanying it, established Prohibition of alcohol in the United States. Several states already had Prohibition laws before this amendment. It was eventually repealed by the 21st Amendment on December 5, 1933. It is the only amendment that has ever been completely repealed.

 

 

Section 1. After one year from the ratification of this article the manufacture, sale, transportation, importation or exportation of intoxicating liquors in the United States and all its territory is hereby prohibited.

 

 

Section 2. The Congress and the States shall both have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.

 

 

Section 3. This article shall have no power unless it shall have been ratified as an amendment to the Constitution by the legislatures of the States, as provided in the Constitution, within seven years from the date of the submission to the States by the Congress.
