Please respond to the following:

  • How might an integrated social media strategy, which leverages all three (3) media types (visual, video, and text), create more consistent and stable marketing results?
  • How do you think an integrated social media strategy will align to your projected target market? Why do you think a business should use an integrated social media strategy? Justify and defend your response.

Discuss the existing tension between development and the environment. Development brings economic growth as well as social and environmental changes. To a developing country, economic growth may be of a higher priority than the consequences to the long-term health of its citizens or its environment. On the other hand, poverty can also harm the environment such as how searching for land to farm contributes to deforestation.

Do wealthy nations using the labor of developing nations have responsibilities to the people and environment of that country? Why or why not? Be sure to use examples of existing companies to support your response.

Imagine you’ve been promoted to a management position and you are tasked with developing your new team. In this assignment you will create a writeup that depicts the different elements that need to be addressed as you assemble your team.

Write a five pages paper in which you:

  1. Explain how you could create a diverse team of employees with different strengths. Use scenarios to convey your idea.
  2. Discuss methods you would adopt to improve team dynamics and employee behaviors.
  3. Describe two (2) management techniques you would implement to ensure that your new team aligns to your company’s mission.

Note: This activity has multiple parts. Make sure you submit each part for credit. You can answer all the prompts in the same file.

Part 1: Definitions

Sometimes it can be difficult to keep the various theories of creativity straight.  For this assignment, create a collage, concept map, or other type of graphic organizer to help you remember the theories and see the connections/overlaps among them.  You might make one for each set of theories or try to incorporate all of them into one complex graphic.  Instead of listing the theorists into categories, use images or phrases to help you remember them.  (Source:  Starko, Creativty in the Classroom, p. 67).

Please submit the following:

  • A picture of your graphic organizer. Or, if you did the organizer electronically to begin with, submit the file with the organizer.
  • A description of your thought process leading to how you grouped the theories together and/or chose specific images for particular theories.

Part 2:  Self-Actualization

Take the self-actualization test on p. 17 of your book and score it.  What do you make of the results of your self-actualization test?   What are your strengths?   How might you improve on some of Maslow’s traits listed on page three?

Note:  You do not need to turn in the answers to your Self-actualization test–just your answers to the reflection questions.

Part 3: Flow

Csikszentmihalyi (for those who are interested, this is actually pronounced Chick-sent-me-high) defines the concept of flow as involving oneself so intently in an activity that one notices nothing else–not time, hunger, fatigue, anxiety–but the activity itself.  Have you ever had that experience where you are so engrossed in an activity that when you finally look up at the clock you notice that hours have gone by, it’s way past your bedtime, and you have forgotten to eat dinner?  This may sound nerdy to some of you, but for me, logic puzzles do it.  I could sit and do these puzzles for hours without any conscious awareness of my surrounding environment or physical needs such as eating or sleeping.   Davis likens the flow experience to self-actualization and creativity because it is in these peak experiences everything comes together:  pure enjoyment, dedication, motivation, and heightened use of abilities.

For your reflection, please answer the following: If this is as good as it gets, why don’t we engage in these peak experiences more often? What do you think prevents some of us from experiencing flow regularly?

Purpose of Assignment

The Case Study focuses on CVP (Cost-Volume-Profit), break-even, and margin of safety analyses which allows students to experience working through a business scenario and applying these tools in managerial decision making.

Resources

  • Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)

Scenario: Mary Willis is the advertising manager for Bargain Shoe Store. She is currently working on a major promotional campaign. Her ideas include the installation of a new lighting system and increased display space that will add $24,000 in fixed costs to the $270,000 in fixed costs currently spent. In addition, Mary is proposing a 5% price decrease ($40 to $38) will produce a 20% increase in sales volume (20,000 to 24,000). Variable costs will remain at $24 per pair of shoes. Management is impressed with Mary’s ideas but concerned about the effects these changes will have on the break-even point and the margin of safety.

Assignment Steps

Complete the following:

  • Compute the current break-even point in units, and compare it to the break-even point in units if Mary’s ideas are used.
  • Compute the margin of safety ratio for current operations and after Mary’s changes are introduced (Round to nearest full percent).
  • Prepare a CVP (Cost-Volume-Profit) income statement for current operations and after Mary’s changes are introduced.

Prepare a maximum 500-word informal memo to management addressing Mary’s suggested changes.

  • Explain whether Mary’s changes should be adopted. Why or why not? Analyze the above information (three bullet points above) and use this information to support your suggestion.

USE the memo template provided in week 1.

Show your work in Excel.

Complete calculations/computations using Excel.

There are two parts to this activity; Please complete both, and you can submit your responses in the same file.

Part 1:  Blocks and Barriers Scavenger Hunt

I would like you to go on a scavenger hunt looking for 12 blocks and barriers to creativity that you notice in your environment.  Make a chart of each of the categories of blocks we have discussed (Habit and Learning, Rules and Traditions, Perceptual, Cultural, Emotional, and Resources) and describe examples you have noted from your environment that illustrate each one.  Maybe you catch yourself thinking “I can’t do that–I’ll probably get it wrong.”  List it under emotional blocks.  You might watch a television show and hear the main character in reaction to his son wanting to take a dance class say, “That’s not for boys to do.  He needs to be playing football.”  Label that as a cultural block.  Find yourself in need of a specific ingredient for a recipe that you are out of?  Do you rush to the supermarket to get it rather than improvise with something else?  Label that as a perceptual block.  Do you hand out an assignment to your students with the guidelines so clearly established that there isn’t any room for them to add their own personal touch?  Label that as a Rules and Traditions.  Etc. Etc.

Ideally, I would like you to find two examples from each of the categories we discussed.  However, if you cannot find examples from each, feel free to add more examples to other categories, so you will still end up with 12 total examples.
*You need to turn this activity in with your reflection.  Please make sure they are saved on the same document.

Part 2: Environment

Describe an environment you know well (your classroom, workplace, home, etc.) in terms of how you think it influences creativity based on what we’ve read about blocks and barriers and the environment (press).  In your description, discuss the following:

  • Physical space:  What about the physical space either inhibits or encourages creativity?
  • Psychological space:   How does the environment influence psychological well being (for example, influence on stress, anxiety, acceptance of making mistakes, and risk taking)?
  • What could you change about the environment to make it more conducive to creative thinking?

In the essay, please state and explain what you take to be the ethical issues involved, and tell me your stand on these issues.  Defend your own positions and also use and explain which ethical theory or theories you would use to defend your views.

The Essay is a Reflection Essay of 3-5 pages, in APA format.

Select ONE ARTICLE from the following links and summarize the reading in your own words. Your summary should be 2-3 paragraphs in length and uploaded as a TEXT DOCUMENT.

What is most important is that you use YOUR OWN WORDS to summarize the news article. It is essential that you do not copy text directly from the Internet. Plagiarism is unacceptable. You can easily avoid this by rephrasing the contents and summarizing it using your own words.
