Genetically modified food (GMO) sources are being produced for public consumption. Consequently a number of safety concerns have been raised. There are benefits to GMO use including: higher yields for crops, increased size of meat-source animals, resistance to disease and herbicides by food source plants and animals, and even improvement in the environment.

Consider how humans have learned to alter the genetic state of other organisms and how this technology has evolved. Think of some specific examples in which genetically modified foods and organisms have been introduced and utilized.
