Journal 10 Conversational Sociology

By now, we have covered fundamentals of the study of Society: Culture, scientific analysis, class, race, gender, institutions, interactions and a lot more. You have shown up, paid attention, contributed to the learning environment and read the book that goes into many more avenues of detail. Go you!

Now what to do with it? Most of you have decided to major in Sociology, become researchers, teachers, demographers, public affairs workers, etc. But some of you might just have been able to enhance your ability and skill set for jobs working with other humans. All of you can now hold a good conversation on a current topic related to something sociological. And EVERYTHING can be tied to the sociological realm.

For your last journal, Choose 1-3 headline stories from todays news from these online outlets:

CNN

Reuters
NPR
Write what the headline is, who wrote the story, and the URL. Summarize the story, and then dissect it for sociological elements based on what you have learned. Use as many terms as you can and relate it to other items or ideas as you like. Use your informed ability to critically analyze the news for sociological content.
