In this essay, you should explain as clearly as possible the assigned arguments, paying attention to links in the reasoning chain.  At this point, do not attempt to criticize the arguments, just explain them and make connections as necessary between points in the argument.  Additionally, you should note how the arguments are similar to each other, and where they differ.  You will find that there are instances in both Mattsons Ivy League Stripper and in Morrisons Bluest Eye that are helpful illustrations of the assigned positions.

Topic :  Marilyn Fryes depiction of structures of oppression (the birdcage analogy) and Peggy McIntoshs depiction of skin-color privilege

Directions:

Based upon the appropriate prompt above, write an exposition of the assigned arguments.  The length of the paper should be about five to seven pages, but be more concerned about content than length.  Use normal font sizes (10 to 12 point), regular 1 margins, and double-space your text.  (The exception being block quotations which are those which take up three or more lines of text.  These should be single spaced and indented by 1 from the running text.)  Cite the text when you paraphrase or quote from it.
