3. Please do not describe what is happening in the organisation. You must evaluate. Evaluate the theory in the context of the organisation. What alternative models or theories might facilitate practice in the organisation?

4. You will not be expected to provide a background briefing to the organisation, but you might provide examples from a case study organisation, or an organisation of your choice, to explore and emphasise the direction and validity of your paper. Be careful about using company or industry specific jargon. You have to help the reader understand the story you are putting together. This is not saying don’t use jargon but ensure you tell the reader what it means.

5. the completed paper will not be less than 700 words and not more than 800 words, excluding headers, sub-headers and reference page. Get to the point – please do not waffle (do not write in a vague or wordy manner). You do not have time and space to do anything other than focus. It is expected that you will use somewhere between 6 – 9 different academic sources on the paper. Not more than two (2) of your references can be web based (www) sources. Harvard style referencing protocols must be followed.

6. The purpose of this assessment is to test your ability to critically evaluate a given scenario and to apply relevant concepts, models and theories (appropriately) to the particular topic under discussion. You will need to demonstrate a clear and applied response to the approach and / or options and not simply describe what has happened or is happening. Link the theories you use together. Show what the relevance and relationship of these theories are and how they fit together (or do not as the case may be). This is as much about joined up thinking and whether you can make connections that may gave you alternative answers.

7. Your answer must include reference to a number of relevant authors, how they see these issues and how you interpret their position and apply it within an organisational context. Get your referencing correct. Use Harvard.

8. Improved grades will be awarded for demonstration of relevant wider reading . Remember the key is the strategic management of human resources and your analysis must view the evaluation from this perspective.

9. This work must not simply be a brain-dump of everything you know. Demonstrate that you can critically evaluate. And remember; keep focused on the question.

10. All work will be written in THIRD (3rd) Person.
