For your final project, you will complete an organ system physiology PowerPoint presentation.

_________________________________________________________________________

To begin, you will select an organ system of your choice as the
basis for your final project. You will then research the organ system and provide basic information about the system, using appropriate terminology. Next, you
will describe common diseases that impact the organ system, providing specifics on the causes of the diseases and how they present themselves in the human
body. Finally, you will discuss current treatment and prevention strategies for the identified diseases.
Specifically, you must address the critical elements listed below. Most of the critical elements align with a particular course outcome (shown in brackets).
I. Organ System: To begin, you will select an organ system of your choice and describe the chosen organ system in detail, using appropriate terminology.
You will describe how the organ system functions when it is healthy as well as how it interacts with other organ systems and the rest of the body.
A. Describe the location of the organ system, using appropriate terminology. [BIO-205-01]
B. Describe the functions of the organ system, using appropriate terminology. [BIO-205-01]
C. Describe the fundamental functions of the four basic tissue types in the organ system. [BIO-205-01]
D. Describe how the tissues form developmentally in the organ system. [BIO-205-01]
E. Describe in detail how the chosen organ system interacts with another major organ system. [BIO-205-02]
F. Describe basic hormonal or nervous communication between the organ system that you have chosen and other organ systems. [BIO-205-02]
G. Describe how the organ system contributes to the overall normal functioning of the patient. [BIO-205-02]
II. Disease Analysis: In this section, you will describe diseases most commonly seen in your chosen organ system. You will also use current data and
research information to describe prevention strategies and a treatment plan for the identified diseases.
A. Using current research, describe the clinically significant chronic and infectious disease states of the organ system. [BIO-205-03]
B. Describe the effects of the diseases on the organ systems anatomy and physiology. [BIO-205-01]
C. Describe the effects of the diseases on the interactions of the organ system with other organ systems and the body as a whole. [BIO-205-02]
D. Describe the presentation of the identified diseases. [BIO-205-03]
E. Describe the diagnosis of the identified diseases, supporting your response with research data. [BIO-205-03]
F. Describe the treatment plan for the diseases, supporting your response with research data. [BIO-205-03]
G. Using research data, describe prevention strategies for the diseases. If the diseases are not preventable, explain why. [BIO-205-03]
